San Julian Beach

Fantastic experience: Dreamy, hidden, not too hard to get to - our 2yo managed to walk so it really isn't that hard. A perfect place tonget away from overcrowded toursit spots.

Positive experience: A small hidden beach, but with free parking ten minutes away by walking, and you can spend a night there if you're traveling with a van or a caravan. At the end of August, on a cloudy day, it wasn't crowded at all.

Negative experience: Many waves bring dirt and seaweed to the shore, dog feces on the sand, if you get careless the waves can take you to the rocks and it can be dangerous.

Negative experience: We went because Maps gave the information that it was suitable for dogs, but we found a rather ambiguous and contradictory sign. It was a beautiful little cove, to get there was a difficult stretch of road and then you had to walk down a significant slope. When we went there were a lot of people and it's a small place. Disappointing.

Fantastic experience: It is a wild cove, without services, which is a little difficult to access. You have to climb a hill and then go down to the beach, with a fairly steep slope. Be careful with Google Maps, because the directions are wrong. At the fork, turn right. The left is the way back.

Fantastic experience: Great beach. Great views. Being hidden there are usually fewer people compared to others around. The nearby rocks are an excellent place to search for crabs. It is advisable to go at low tide. It is accessed by a steep path that can take about 10 or 15 minutes.

Fantastic experience: Fine sandy beach, surrounded by cliffs. To access the beach from the car park, you have to go down a steep slope and then some stairs. It's a small, uncrowded and quiet beach. You can also bring your dog. Despite the difficulty in accessing it, it is worth visiting.

Fantastic experience: Very beautiful beach. Free parking at the top and then walked down. It wasn’t hard but I recommend wearing sports shoes instead of flip flops. The hill is steep but doable, perhaps not if you have mobility issues. Attached a photo of the worst part of the hill.

Fantastic experience: Really a very nice beach. Probably not so crowded either, as (as it seemed to me) it is mostly only used by a few locals. The detour from the main road is also worthwhile with a loaded tour bike. A bit sweaty, but you can cool off in the sea there.

Negative experience: They recommended it to me as a dog-friendly beach but I returned with a fine from the Guardia Civil, there are several prohibitions on entry that you have to be aware of to see it. Expensive beach day...

Fantastic experience: I don't know how to explain it. I like marine environments. I love the sea, but I hate the beach. However, I'm in love with this one... Every time I go to Laredo, I end up taking the hiking route that reaches it and that shares a stretch with the Camino de Santiago. In the end I end up going down to it and enjoying such a beautiful place. It's not guarded. Still, people come down to it and take a bath. You have to be careful with hangovers and strong waves. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes (preferably for hiking), water, some food, etc. And above all, enjoy the landscape...!

Fantastic experience: I witnessed this beautiful playa whilst walking the Camino Del Norte. It was the highlight of my experience and I was just in love instantly. When I get married, it will be here, it was so beautiful.

Fantastic experience: An incredible beach. Impressive views, but the problem is its access, but good otherwise it wouldn't be so splendid. I recommend going down with comfortable shoes to make it easier. On the other hand, some cliffs, tranquility, water and an impressive landscape. It's worth seeing and enjoying. There are no showers there, but you don't have to. The sand is easy to remove (more or less).

Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove hidden between cliffs, in the town of Liendo. Small free parking is available. Sandy beach next to unique rock formations. Access area to the beach, by dirt road and quite steep. Not recommended for very young children or baby or disabled seats. Prohibition of camping and/or spending the night in tents, motorhomes, or camper vans. Beautiful views from the highest area of access to the beach. Highly recommended. A somewhat dangerous beach, when there is a lot of waves due to a hangover.

Fantastic experience: We arrived at this viewpoint by chance, since we were taking a roadtrip from Bilbao to Gijón for the day and we needed a first stop to rest. Looking at Google Maps landmarks, this place looked beautiful. And that's how it was: the photos don't do it justice. It's one of the most beautiful landscapes we saw on our month-long trip across the peninsula. Because the best thing is when you arrive at a place without expectations and you are surprised. The vegetation, the morning mist (it was around 9 AM) and the color of the Cantabrian Sea invite you to stay and disconnect from everything.

There is no type of restaurant or beach bar so we recommend bringing food. In short, a spectacular beach to spend the day and enjoy the waves and the landscape.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove with no buildings in sight. Between cliffs and meadows. It's small. It is usually not very crowded because access is not accessible to everyone. There is quite a difference in altitude from the parking lot to the sand, although the road is practically completely paved. After a day of beach activity, climbing can be difficult, but it can be done. There are no showers or security (lifeguards). In the area there are goats who are very used to people.

Positive experience: Very nice beach, although access is difficult. I visited it in January, so no problem. I imagine that in summer it must be an odyssey to be able to get a place in the parking lot.
