Verdicio Beach

Information

Verdicio Beach, located near Cabo Peñas, is a stunning destination famous for its wide sandy shores and beautiful dunes, making it a popular spot for surfers. Visitors have praised the spectacular sunsets, especially during low tide when the crowd diminishes.

However, the beach can get quite crowded during peak times and may be considered unsafe for those accustomed to Mediterranean beaches. Access to the beach is challenging, with poor road conditions and a need for caution while driving.

Pros:

  • Beautiful scenery and sunsets
  • Large parking spaces with a fee of 3€
  • Close to chiringuitos for food and drinks
  • Options for families with sandy areas and tide pools
  • A variety of activities including surfing

Cons:

  • Crowded during weekends
  • Access roads in poor condition
  • Limited amenities if not a customer at the chiringuitos
  • Some reviews indicate disappointing service at local bars

Negative experience: The conservation is non-existent. Access is impossible, the road, if you can call it that, has potholes that haven't been repaired in years. Tremendous neglect.

Fantastic experience: It's a wild beach, the mountain drops down to the sea, a place to relax the mind. It has 2 quite acceptable beach bars with incredible views, even with performances in the summer. The last stretch to access the beach is a tricky peak but it's short and can be crossed safely. Large area for parking.

Positive experience: Very spacious beach, with coarse sand. Area with quite a slope to the sea that ensures there is always sandy space available even during high tide. Quite a few waves, with designated swimming areas to share the space with surfers safely. There are foot wash areas and two beach bars nearby. There are restrooms in the paid parking lot, when we went they were unclogging them so I don't know what their condition is. A good option for going with kids: there is a sandy area and another with rocks.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic beach. Even at high tide, there is still sand, and at low tide, some very beautiful rocky areas are revealed. There is plenty of parking. When we visited, there was a beach bar with reasonable prices and generous snacks at very reasonable rates.

Negative experience: The beach and the surroundings are very beautiful. That said, the access road to the beach is like something from a third-world country, with more holes than an Emmental cheese, it's a disgrace. There are two beach bars; the one further back, when I asked a question out of pure courtesy, responded to me rudely, and the one closest to the beach charged me an excessive amount for a tiny beer. And when I asked if I could please get some olives or something to snack on, he said yes, but for a price. It's a shame that these things continue to happen in Spain in the 21st century, but that's how it is. Nevertheless, the beach and the surroundings are lovely.

Positive experience: Beautiful beach, surrounded by incredible scenery and with beautiful views. It is a wide beach, but as the hours go by, the tide rises. We had to move spots about 3 times. And then out of the whole beach, only a small part was open for swimming because the sea looks a bit dangerous. The good thing is that there are lifeguards. The only downside is that there are no restrooms, and those at the beach bar are exclusive for customers. They should put restrooms given the amount of people that visit there.

Iker Timeless 3 months ago

JOSE ESPINAR 3 months ago

Ana Cantelar 3 months ago

Fantastic experience: One of the best beaches I've been to. Parking is easy. There are some estates where the owner has set it up as parking lots and for only €3 (cars) or €6 (vans/campers) you can park your car all day. The restrooms cost €0.50, but you get a free ticket if you've purchased something from the beach bars. The sea is rough but it is wonderful. We loved it.
