The Platgeta
Information
La Platgeta, located in Calella de Palafrugell, is a picturesque little beach renowned for its crystal-clear waters and inviting atmosphere. The charming village is a delightful spot for families and offers stunning views, making it an ideal destination for relaxation and leisure.
However, during the summer months, the area experiences massive tourist crowds, which can detract from the tranquil experience. Visitors have noted that finding a parking spot can be a challenge and that the once-peaceful beaches are now filled with umbrellas and loungers. This influx has resulted in increased prices at local restaurants, which now cater to a more tourist-oriented clientele.
Despite these challenges, many appreciate the beautiful environment and the ambiance of La Platgeta. Visitors have highlighted the exceptional clarity of the water, the pleasant temperature, and the overall aesthetic of the surroundings. Culinary options are available nearby, allowing guests to enjoy local flavors. The beach is also well-regarded for its cleanliness and the variety of small hidden coves.
To fully appreciate La Platgeta, consider visiting in the offseason when the crowds thin out and the area’s charm can be enjoyed more fully.

Negative experience: Calella de Palafrugell: Between Beauty and Commercialization Calella de Palafrugell, with its picturesque port and crystal-clear coves, has been a refuge for those seeking an escape from the tourist overcrowding for years. However, its natural charm has turned it into an increasingly popular destination, resulting in a series of consequences that are transforming this corner of the Costa Brava. One of the most evident problems is **tourist overcrowding**. During the summer months, the narrow streets of Calella are crowded with visitors, making it difficult to enjoy the tranquility and authenticity that characterized this village. The previously lonely beaches are now filled with umbrellas and sun loungers, and finding a parking spot has become an odyssey. This growing influx of tourists has had a direct impact on **prices**. Restaurants that once offered local cuisine at affordable prices have now raised their rates considerably. It is not uncommon to find simple dishes at exorbitant prices that personally make me laugh, which has driven away many regular visitors and made it difficult for residents to access local gastronomy. Prices for the rich of Europe. The **loss of identity** is another concerning aspect. The proliferation of souvenir shops, ice cream parlors, and fast-food restaurants has homogenized the urban landscape, blurring Calella's personality. Traditional buildings are becoming increasingly surrounded by modern structures that are poorly integrated into the environment. It is understandable that the people of Calella want to benefit from tourism, but it is essential to find a balance between economic development and the preservation of natural and cultural heritage. Measures need to be implemented to regulate the flow of visitors, promote more sustainable tourism, and protect the natural environment. If you look out to sea, you will see about two hundred vessels destroying the seabed with their anchors. In conclusion, Calella de Palafrugell is at a turning point. Its natural beauty and charm have made it a tourist magnet, but overcrowding and price hikes threaten to distort its essence. It is time to reflect on the current tourism model and seek alternatives that allow enjoyment of this place without jeopardizing its future. What do you think about this situation?

Fantastic experience: Calella de Palafrugell is undoubtedly the jewel of the Costa Brava. And the platgeta is my favorite cove. Crystal clear water, coarse sand. The type that doesn't stick to you or leave you battered like a croquette. The downside is that being a small cove, it gets super crowded in the summer. Better to go in the fall.
Fantastic experience: Lovely sandy beach, it goes shallow for a long way so the temperature is very pleasant.
Fantastic experience: You have been discovering Costa Brava and finally you reached the crown jewel of Baix Emporda, this one the old songs talk about. Fantastic experience: Small beach with coarse, pebble-like sand. Beautiful water and adjacent scenery. Get here early, like 9am to get a spot close to the water. It stays busy all day. Oh, if you’re American, be aware folks (of all ages) are frequently sunbathing topless. That being said, no age restriction as we saw families with little toddlers up through older folks. At night, past 10pm, it seems like a favorite spot for teens to hang out with friends.

Positive experience: + sus aguas cristalinas son las que hacen que no quieras dejar de ir - en verano suele haber bastante gente y sobre todo ahora es difícil respetar las medidas de seguridad contra el covid19, pero así están todas las playas de la zona.

Fantastic experience: Cala grande y amplia.

Fantastic experience: A wonderful village, a true visual poetry with its own charm. Where the sailor's charm of the past is still preserved, a careful and wonderful charm with a coastline full of coves. Calella de Palafrugell is not only famous for being and holding the essence of a village on the Costa Brava where tradition, culture, and art come together. Its Havaneras festivals are famous, where it's almost impossible to find a spot, as well as the famous Cap Roig festival that enlivens the summer nights with concerts by top figures in contemporary and timeless music on the summer nights of the Costa Brava, undoubtedly a reference village for its gastronomy.

Fantastic experience: You have been discovering Costa Brava and finally you reached the crown jewel of Baix Emporda, this one the old songs talk about. No place for disappointment, Calella is spectacular, cosy to the extreme, perfect mix of an ancient fishermen village and a mediterranean bay. The sand, the colors of the wooden boats lying on the beach, the timid scattered rocks, the smell of fideua. Costa Brava's best definition is Calella.

Fantastic experience: Without a doubt one of the best places in Catalonia. I'd live there, it's the dream magnificent views and lifestyle. Must visit.

Fantastic experience: So beautiful here! One of the best beaches in Catalunya!
