Aritzatxu Beach (Bermeo)

Fantastic experience: A small but very pleasant beach, especially when the tide is high and there aren't many people. The access path can be tricky for people with mobility issues. It's quite a steep slope.

Fantastic experience: A beach that almost disappears at high tide, with a comfortable and clean concreted area, it is a family-friendly beach with quite a few locals and many children. The area with the walkway and the stairs is a bit daunting, but I had a great time in the end. I found it cool for snorkeling and seeing many fish and some of good size among the rocks. Access is via a narrow paved path with quite a slope, but it is worth it. Right above the beach, there is a beach bar with a terrace next to the lifeguards' hut. We loved it and will try to go back.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful and small beach. The path down is a bit steep but well paved. The beach is not very large and has little shade, so it is ideal if you want sun but not much if you want to cover up. It has showers, a small bar, and a lifeguard.

Negative experience: Decepcionada, entro en Bermeo y me dispongo a visitarlo con toda la ilusión del mundo. Primer problema, el aparcamiento inmenso del pueblo limitado con barra de altura, ¿Nadie os dijo que según la DGT está prohibido discriminar a vehículos como caravanas y furgonetas? Por otro lado y después de buscar un aparcamiento decido visitar la playa de aritxatxu la cual han rellenado de cemento y en la que me han recibido con un "de aquí en adelante perros no, ni en el bar, ni en la playa, ni en el último tramo de paseo hasta la misma". Lo que viene siendo que ni foto pude echar. Recomiendo ahorrar gasolina tiempo y ganas a todo aquel que viaje con animales ya que ni un café me he podido tomar.

Negative experience: La playa está situada al pie del acantilado pero por desgracia, el socorrista que más bien hizo un trabajo portero de discoteca vino casi corriendo a decirme que no bajara ni hasta el bar con los perros que ya no debía ni haber bajado la cuesta. Por otro lado el esperpento ante mis ojos cuando observo grandes cantidades de hormigón creando una gran superficie sonde la gente coloca sus toallas y hamacas a modo piscina de hotel.

Fantastic experience: Petite plage intimiste sur le bas de Bermeo à laquelle on accede par un chemin á gauche du cimetière. Peu de sable à marée haute mais le plaisir de tremper les pieds et le reste pour les courageux.

Fantastic experience: Ein kleiner, ein wenig versteckter Sandstrand in Bermeo! Der Strand liegt ruhig und ohne jede Verkehrsbeeinträchtigung hinter dem Altstadthügel Bermeos und wird überwiegend von Einheimischen benutzt. Der Strand, Playa de Aritzatxu, ist aufgeteilt in eine steinerne Fläche sowie einen kleinen Sandstrand, welcher, je nach Stand von Ebbe und Flut, mal etwas größer, mal etwas kleiner ist. Die Gezeiten spielen eine ziemlich große Rolle und verändern den Strand teilweise erheblich. Wir empfanden es bei Flut dort angenehmer. Dem Strand vorgelagert ist ein großer Fels im Wasser, der durch eine Brücke mit dem Strand verbunden ist. Dieser Fels erzeugt zwei kleine geschützte Badebuchten, von denen die eine nur für Schwimmer, die andere auch für Nichtschwimmer und Kinder geeignet ist. Die Playa de Aritzatxu ist zur Saison durch das Rote Kreuz beaufsichtigt und es gibt sogar eine kleine Strandbar, die Eis und Getränke anbietet sowie auch einen Außenbereich mit Stühlen und Tischen hat. Für uns war dieser Strand eine tolle Entdeckung und wir können Urlaubern nur empfehlen, diesen zu besuchen.

Positive experience: Bonita, pero no hay mucha zona de playa como tal con arena, y enseguida se llena de gente.

Fantastic experience: Cool secret little spot. Not much of a beach but still very interesting to check out. Is mostly a locals spot but it has recently been improved with some interesting paths. It is next to a cemetery which makes it creepy and novel at the same time. There is also a large park above it perfect for a picnic or a stroll with your dog. This area of Bermeo isn't visited much by tourist as they normally focus on the harbor, the pier, and all of the bars and restaurants in that area. However, there is a cool little bar on that tiny spec of a "beach" called Aritzatxu. Also, if you are into biking challenges you can bike to the place that is famous because game of thrones was filmed there, The Wall. It's about an hour's bike ride to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, where the wall is. As you can imagine it's an amazing sight. Don't worry there is also a restaurant and bar close by where you can have a couple of beers, some rotisserie chicken, or some ribs or something else before you hop back on your bike. Overall a great way to explore the Basque Country and see some beautiful places.

Positive experience: Si no hay marea baja un rincón muy bonito. En caso contrario muy difícil entrar por las rocas y resbaladizo sin escarpines. La cuesta para subir y bajar se las trae. El chiringuito muy agradable y majos los camareros

Fantastic experience: Una de las playas más interesantes del País Vasco. Si te gustan las playas de roca para bucear y ver la cosa desde dentro, esta es una de las mejores. Se aparca junto al cementerio, arriba, y se baja por camino asfaltado con rampas importantes. Merece la pena el esfuerzo. Abajo hay una playa bastante pequeña, que casi desaparece cuando sube la marea. Hay duchas, socorrista y baños. Los fines de semana hay un chiringuito que da sándwiches y bebidas. Lo mejor, para mí, el paisaje, las olas, la gran peña y todo lo que se puede ver bajo el agua. Si vais con niños es un sitio genial para jugar con cubo y redecilla. No olvidéis las gafas y tubo... Muy recomendable!!

Fantastic experience: With a craving for the beach and looking for the sea, we stumbled upon this little cove. Super cute and family-friendly. It's not very well signposted, but that's probably for the best. Super clean and well-maintained, with a lifeguard, restrooms, and a small grass area. As Vicente Raga says: 'Expect the unexpected.' Would repeat...

Fantastic experience: This is a small hidden beach popular with locals with virtually no sand at high tide. It has a small island with a boardwalk accessible during low tide. There is a small Cafe-bar on location and access is through a paved trail pedestrian only walkway. Despite its small size, it is very popular with families and small children. Beach is well protected from big surf.

Fantastic experience: Playa de la que no te esperas situada en la zona de costa en pleno pueblo de Bermeo. No es una playa que tú veas directamente al aparcar el coche, sino que tienes que ir a descubrirla, y eso es lo que mola, a parte de luego de su belleza natural. Hay varios sitios donde aparcar el coche por la zona de arriba de Bermeo antes de cojer el caminito con una pendiente interesante que te lleva hasta la playa. Se tarda en llegar unos 10min. No hay que hacer un esfuerzo excesivo para llegar, merece mucho la pena. Abajo en la playa está todo súper bien preparando con varias duchas, hay servicio de socorristas y también tienes un bar para tomarte algo a precios normales, por lo menos en agosto que fuimos nosotros. Depende de la marea tendrás más o menos zona de arena, pero en esta playa, al ser pequeñita, con marea alta se nota mucho que hay menos espacio. Se veía a mucha gente con el equipo de snorkel, así que te recomiendo llevar gafas y tubo porque seguro merece la pena ver el fondo marino. Sobre todo disfruta!!!

Fantastic experience: Una de las joyas de Bermeo, para sus habitantes es un lugar muy especial. Acércate en verano, en un día de sol, y encontrarás ambientazo de familias, gente joven y no tan joven. Una playa muy divertida para los niños aunque tendréis que andar con cuidado con las rocas. Tiene chiringuito, duchas y socorrista. Sin duda uno de los rinconcitos más encantadores de Bermeo.
