Fantastic experience: La Playa el Salón, Nerja, is located to the right of the Balcony of Europe, just after La Caletilla beach. A small cove with a special charm in all its corners, where you will find small sheds by the rocks that are currently used by local fishermen as storage for their fishing gear. I invite you to walk towards them and with the low tide venture among the rocks and walk along the small shore that takes you to the next beach. From this point, you can see the Balcony of Europe from a special perspective. It is a beach 200 meters long and 20 meters wide that is usually very crowded in summer, also being one of the most visited by Spanish tourists. Despite not having excellent access (due to its steep slope), its location makes it one of the favorite beaches for families who wish to have a good day at the beach. Its calm waters and medium-grain sand make swimming easy, making 'El Salón' a beach suitable for all kinds of people, with the advantage of not having to wear water shoes as may be necessary at Playa del Playazo. The beach is quite well equipped; you can shower with fresh water (although with low pressure). Additionally, it has a lifeguard station and a danger signal flag that make swimming sufficiently safe. Any sting or cut from the rocks can be treated by the lifeguard on duty on-site. Its trash bins and daily cleaning make it one of the cleanest coves in Nerja. As leisure services, this cove has sunbed service and a small kiosk open all day. It only has one access. The entrance is through an alley next to the Church of El Salvador, the same one that leads to the Toboso Apar-Turis Aparthotel. The alley leads to a winding (somewhat steep) slope that takes you to the old fishermen's beach, where you will find the small houses of sailors that were used as primary residences many years ago and that most now use as summer homes. At the beginning of the reign of the Catholic Monarchs, the battle for the dominance of the Iberian Peninsula ended. And although Málaga was reconquered by Christians in 1487, in the following years Nerja maintained its Islamic population, which resulted in three different cultures: Christian, Jewish, and Arab. This was the moment when the kingdom forced those who did not convert to Christianity to leave the place. Since that time, there are legends that tell how Playa el Salón in Nerja got its name because it was a witness to the departure of the Jews who were saying goodbye to each other with the word 'Shalom,' a word that in Hebrew means 'peace' and is also used to say 'hello' or 'goodbye'.
Positive experience: It is a small beach surrounded by white buildings that exude the charm of a traditional Spanish seaside town. Amenities are relatively limited, but being located just below the Balcón de Europa offers great accessibility—though it can be a bit noisy.
Fantastic experience: Small beach, quiet and beautiful, good access and near the Balcony of Europe.
Fantastic experience: The captivating color of the water at this beach is remarkably more turquoise than that of any nearby beaches, presenting a breathtaking view that entices anyone to dive in from the overlooking plaza. Despite its limited size, which naturally leads to it being more crowded, the beach remains a must-visit destination. Its allure is undeniable, making the occasional hustle and bustle of the crowd worth navigating. The beach is particularly family-friendly, offering a safe and enjoyable environment for visitors of all ages. Adjacent to the beach, there is a high-quality hotel restaurant that adds to the overall experience, providing convenient access to delicious meals and refreshing drinks without having to stray far from the sand and sea. This combination of stunning natural beauty, convenience, and amenities makes the beach not just a place to visit, but a destination to experience fully. Whether it's lounging on the sand, swimming in the clear turquoise waters, or enjoying a meal with a view, the beach and its surroundings offer a complete package for a memorable day out or an extended stay.
Fantastic experience: El Salón Beach is one of Nerja’s larger beaches with over 200 meters of sand and surf. This beach generally won’t be extremely overcrowded as there is only one way to get to the beach and the access road can be difficult to find so it can be a nice quiet place to relax and listen to the crashing waves of the Mediterranean Sea.

Fantastic experience: Playa pequeña, tranquila, con restaurante cerca. Aguas cristalinas y con buena temperatura. Arenas oscuras.
Fantastic experience: Playa El Salón is a true treasure tucked just west of Nerja’s iconic Balcón de Europa, and after spending a sun-soaked day here, I can confidently say it’s one of the finest beaches on the Costa del Sol. What sets El Salón apart is its unique blend of central location, local charm, and tranquil atmosphere—a rare combination that makes it a standout for both families and travelers seeking an authentic Spanish seaside experience. Accessed via a winding pedestrian path from the Plaza Balcón de Europa, the descent itself offers glimpses of whitewashed fisherman’s cottages built into the cliffs, a nod to the beach’s storied past as a working port. The beach stretches for about 200 meters, with soft, dark sand and dramatic rocky outcrops that shelter the bay from wind and add to its picturesque appeal. The water is clear and inviting, perfect for swimming or simply wading in to spot colorful fish darting over the seabed. Despite its proximity to Nerja’s bustling old town, Playa El Salón feels peaceful and uncrowded, especially outside the peak summer months. Spanish families favor this spot for its safe, patrolled waters (lifeguards are present in summer), and the gentle slope of the sand makes it ideal for children to play. Facilities are excellent: you’ll find showers, changing rooms, toilets, sunbed and umbrella rentals, and a small kiosk for refreshments. While there are no restaurants directly on the beach, the lively tapas bars and eateries of the old town are just a short stroll away. One of the highlights is the sense of community and tradition that lingers here. The old fishermen’s houses and the annual summer “White Party” bring a touch of local color and festivity, making every visit feel special. And for those who love exploring, the rocks at either end of the bay are perfect for a bit of adventure—or for capturing that perfect photo of the Balcón de Europa rising above the Mediterranean. In short, Playa El Salón is everything you could want from a southern Spanish beach: scenic, welcoming, and full of character. Whether you’re looking to relax, swim, or soak up Nerja’s unique atmosphere, this beach delivers a five-star experience every time.
Positive experience: Great beach, quiet, with changing rooms and although only 1 out of 3 showers works, it has showers. The beach bar is in the center. According to the sign, ANIMALS PROHIBITED.

Gracias .

Fantastic experience: Great views, clean water, next to the hotel
Fantastic experience: A small and cozy beach with plenty of space, with clear and clean water. Sunbeds must be reserved in advance, but it's extremely expensive compared to Playa Burriana (€22 for two beds vs €6 per bed at Burriana). Bring your own chairs or blankets, and parasol in stead. A small cafe is located there, with good food and cold refreshments at decent prices.
Fantastic experience: Small beach but the water quality is great especially on calm days. Almost transparent.
