Sa Tuna Beach
Information
Platja de Sa Tuna is a hidden gem located in the charming town of Begur, known for its natural beauty and crystal-clear waters. While the beach offers a picturesque setting, visitors often point out some practical concerns.
- Pros: Beautiful surroundings, perfect for snorkeling, and access to wonderful hiking trails. The nearby restaurants, such as Es Furió and Hostal Sa Tuna, offer delicious local cuisine.
- Cons: Limited parking availability with few blue zone spots, often crowded during the summer months, making it difficult to find a quiet spot to relax. The beach itself has rocky surfaces which can be uncomfortable without proper footwear.
Despite the challenges, many agree that visiting Platja de Sa Tuna is a rewarding experience, especially if you arrive early or consider taking public transport to avoid parking struggles. Just be wary of jellyfish during peak summer!

Fantastic experience: Small car park 2 minutes from beach. Delightful cove with the clear Mediterranean
Fantastic experience: Beautiful little village, small beach. Ordered an ice cream, got 2 scoops in a glass bowl, €8... we laughed hard about it. Walked out of one restaurant, you can only sit at a table with 2 people... never experienced anything like that. You can take stunning photos there...
Negative experience: Very few blue zone parking spaces. The rest are all with yellow lines. Almost impossible to park.
Fantastic experience: Difficult to find a car park but def a beautiful beach worth spending time by!
Positive experience: The place is nice. The sandy area is terrible: it has bad sand and many irregular stones. The umbrella can hardly be set up anywhere because the ground is extremely hard. In summer, the beach is so crowded that there isn't room for a pin. It's overwhelming. There is hardly any parking space unless you arrive at 8 in the morning. I recommend taking the bus. The Ronda walkway is beautiful and the snorkeling is worth it. There is a lifeguard station on the beach. I do not recommend it if you just want to lie in the sun and take a dip, especially not for going with young children. For that, there are other beaches that are much better and larger nearby. In summary: Yes to snorkeling and walking along the Ronda Path, and No for a relaxing beach day.

Positive experience: Small but beautiful beach. It has stones which is not the most comfortable, but I definitely recommend it, especially if you eat or dine at one of the restaurants right next to it (Es Furió and Hostal Sa Tuna)

Fantastic experience: Very nice. Pebble beach. Recommended water shoes.
Positive experience: Nice place, better if it had fine sand
Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove, it is small, stunning views and perfect for snorkeling, many fish. And in August it is somewhat crowded. It is rocky. There is no sand. I recommend water shoes. To park nearby, you have to pay for the blue zone. There is a bar and restaurant right on the beach.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove sheltered from the wind with a good gastronomic offer. We didn't get to eat there, but the restaurant at Hostal Sa Tuna looked spectacular.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful cove surrounded by nature....It is small, so it gets very crowded quickly in the summer....There are restaurants and paddle surf rental services....To get there without your vehicle from Begur, there are line buses that take you to the cove, a service that is highly recommended to avoid parking problems....Highly recommended!!
Positive experience: very nice but a bit overpriced, mattress at €25 for half a day, restaurant on the beach not interesting. Too many people

Fantastic experience: Place in a beautiful setting, highly recommended to visit and swim in its crystal clear waters. It's in Begur, Girona.
Positive experience: Beautiful bay. In particular, the sea water and the snorkeling opportunities are stunning. You can swim right into a cave. The beach itself is very small and has a lot of pebbles. Parking is also not easy. There is a small paid parking lot, otherwise you have to park along the road. With a bit of luck, you'll park nearby; if not, it's quite a hike up the hill.

Negative experience: The cove is beautiful but is very impractical. It is full of people and there is no space even to lay down your towel. In my opinion, a cove that is very overrated; nearby there is a much more secluded, quiet, and fun cove.

Fantastic experience: Very pretty little beach but it quickly gets overwhelmed with vacationers... also difficult to park.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful gem of a – nudist – beach.
Positive experience: It's a very nice and quiet place.
Positive experience: Amazing beach!! But overcrowded and it's not comfortable.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove sheltered from the wind with a good gastronomic offer. We didn't get to eat there, but the restaurant at Hostal Sa Tuna looked spectacular.
Fantastic experience: Could not be more beautiful!!!
Positive experience: The place is nice. The sandy area is terrible: it has bad sand and many irregular stones. The umbrella can hardly be set up anywhere because the ground is extremely hard. Fantastic experience: We were only passing by and we’ve decided to stop and explore a bit of the destination. Difficult to find parking and we left the car on a hill which then meant a long walk down in the valley but well worth it.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove on the Costa Brava. Close to Begur.
Positive experience: very nice but a bit overpriced, mattress at €25 for half a day, restaurant on the beach not interesting. Too many people
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful but very crowded
Positive experience: It's okay, but there are better ones on the Costa Brava
Fantastic experience: Nice and beautiful cove for swimming in Begur
Fantastic experience: Place in a beautiful setting, highly recommended to visit and swim in its crystal clear waters. It's in Begur, Girona.
Fantastic experience: A beautiful cove, great atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: Very nice. Pebble beach. Recommended water shoes.
Fantastic experience: Great for snorkeling.
Fantastic experience: Very nice and easy parking with the easyparc app.
Positive experience: There are only three restaurants for this pretty little cove and they all operate on French time!! So not great
Positive experience: Beautiful bay.
Positive experience: Crowded around 6:30 PM, the best time, but we eventually find a spot.. The place is beautiful, but a towel on 2m2 of pebbles is too little for me... So, 2 photos and we're off... Well, that's normal since it's August...
Positive experience: A lot of people at this time and little space.
Positive experience: Place with a great view and not bad for snorkeling, but very crowded on the beach because it is quite small.
Fantastic experience: Ideal for cooling off, good bus combination. Beach with great views and good mental disconnection.
Positive experience: Small cove with a small harbor.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove......!!!! It is worth going there!!! The parking is already a blue zone....... You have to go quite early otherwise it is difficult to find a spot.
Positive experience: Beautiful cove but with pebbles, come prepared.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful bay with a small beach. Limited parking options.
Positive experience: Beautiful place. An old fishing village. Unfortunately, I did say 'old' because it's a tourist spot. The beach is magnificent. The small houses around are very typical, but you must absolutely avoid the months of July and August. It’s a small cove but very nice.
Fantastic experience: A beautiful beach, but very crowded in the middle of summer. Parking is difficult and works just like blue zones. You can swim from this beach to the beach that is further south, and from there you have a beautiful viewpoint if you walk up. If you walk to the left via a path along the beach, you will reach the beach located to the north.
Fantastic experience: Great beach and place
Positive experience: Access road with many curves, parking at the entrance. Very beautiful beach, it's worth it.
Fantastic experience: A spectacular cove, the water is super clear and is ideal for snorkeling.
Fantastic experience: A cove highly recommended with crystal clear waters.
Negative experience: The cove is beautiful but is very impractical. It is full of people and there is no space even to lay down your towel. In my opinion, a cove that is very overrated; nearby there is a much more secluded, quiet, and fun cove.
Fantastic experience: What can I say? Simply amazing. Having a vacation in July means going during the week and finding a spot at 10 in the morning in the parking lot (paid) but without crowdedness. Now, a Sunday or in August must be impossible. We went on a Tuesday in July at 10 in the morning and paid €2 until 12h. We spent 2 hours in the cove but it was enough to leave in love. Everything is paid in Begur unless you park 15 minutes walking through curves and are lucky to find a spot, but sometimes it's better to pay than to walk 15-20 minutes in the sun, uphill and around curves (I've done it and bff..). For me, one of the most beautiful places in Catalonia. There were jellyfish on the day we went but with a snorkel mask, you can manage. If you follow the coastal path, you end up in another famous cove of Begur.
Negative experience: Not an ideal place to swim, the sea is full of jellyfish. It sting me and luckily there is a first aid station nearby. There are other beautiful sea around and safe to swim. I don’t recommend here for swimming
Fantastic experience: A memorable place
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach visited off-season
Positive experience: Very pretty beach. A magnificent setting.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful place, the cove, the small fishing port are must-see spots, I recommend.
Positive experience: Very beautiful cove but what a horror of a beach. Gravel and pebbles. With all the boats, there is little room to enjoy it.
Fantastic experience: Magnificent coves with a small village around. There is a path around this beach.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful and calm beach.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful place to see. There is a path along the coast from which hidden coves can be discovered.
Fantastic experience: Idyllic small cove in Begur. Fishermen's houses. Transparent waters, with stones. On both sides of the cove, the coastal paths. A Restaurant Hotel with 5 rooms right by the cove and two more restaurants.
Fantastic experience: We went at the beginning of June, which made our stay more appealing. We could spread our towels although there is little sand. There were also few people. The water was crystal clear, and the hostel was nearby in case you wanted to eat something.
Fantastic experience: A little paradise
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful bay. With nice restaurants.
Fantastic experience: Cove-shaped beach with rocky land and calm, clear waters
Fantastic experience: Very nice location, well maintained. Recommended to stay for a day or two. Enjoy breakfast on the terrace in the rising sun...
Fantastic experience: Discovered by chance, very beautiful village. Be careful, it was off season so very, very few tourists. I can't even imagine it in the summer!
Fantastic experience: Beautiful little cove, a piece of paradise. Possible to park at the entrance of the village. In summer, it must be crowded, little space on this pebble beach. Possibility to arrive by a well-maintained path.
Fantastic experience: It's a beautiful cove and has a special coastal walkway.
Fantastic experience: Excellent setting, it looks like a movie set.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove with charm, small and very representative of the Costa Brava, unfortunately the lack of parking.
Fantastic experience: Magnificent to see if you're in the area
Fantastic experience: Magnificent! A must-see on your walk.
Fantastic experience: A beautiful cove in Begur
Fantastic experience: Small pleasant beach. Be careful in summer, it's a very popular spot and a lifeguard may block your access if there are too many people.
Fantastic experience: Typical cove of the Costa Brava
Fantastic experience: Nice cove. Parking is tricky, but I guess in summer it will be nearly impossible.
Positive experience: Beautiful beach. Be very careful ⚠️ in summer, especially in August. It gets filled with jellyfish, and with so many if you swim, it's very likely that you'll get stung by one, as happened to me.
Fantastic experience: We left the car in the free parking behind the Chapel of Our Lady of Carmen. Upon arriving at Cala or Sa Tuna Beach, we were greeted by a marvel before our eyes, with the old colorful fishermen's cottages, now summer residences for locals and visitors. At its feet, the Mediterranean Sea with calm and crystal-clear waters, protected by Punta des Plom and Cap Sa Sal. We were really lucky to enjoy this paradise completely alone, the peace and tranquility were palpable. Since it was low season, everything was practically closed tight. If you come at this time, bring food and drinks in case you don't find anything open, as the village of Begur is a few kilometers away. We entered through one of the routes of the Coastal Path, specifically we did the stretch from Cala Sa Tuna to Cala d'Aiguafreda, passing by Cala Ses Vaques, and continuing to Cap Sa Sal. The landscapes are stunning and surrounded by a pine forest. Views of Cala d'Aiguafreda and the impressive Hotel Cap sa Sal Begur, which offers privileged views, and so are its prices, which start at 300 euros per night. Along the way, you will find stairs to go down to the rocks or bathe in the different coves or the sea. The photos are from November 2017. If you like what you see and read, give it a like and follow me.
Fantastic experience: For me, it is the most beautiful cove of Begur, and from it, two trails depart that you must walk along the sea because along the entire way, they have spectacular views that you will never forget.
Fantastic experience: A charm of a cove
Fantastic experience: Mag-ni-fi-cent!
Fantastic experience: A small quiet corner out of season. It has retained its charm. However, paths are poorly marked.
Positive experience: Very beautiful and calm beach.
Fantastic experience: Ideal place for this time of year
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach to explore its surroundings!!!!!!
Positive experience: The surroundings are very beautiful although the beach is not sandy
Positive experience: Ideal beach to take a nice cold bath, one of the big drawbacks is that it is a stony beach, but otherwise perfect.
Fantastic experience: A cove in Begur, as beautiful as others. The local people have their preferences and Sa Tuna is in the top 3. It is difficult to park in summer, better to take the bus. The bottom of the cove is made up of rounded stones shaped by the force of the sea, so if you're not used to it, it's better to wear flip-flops. You can eat at one of the beachfront restaurants or stock up on water at a mini-market, just a heads up. You won't leave without taking a photo and thinking that yes, it is a beautiful landscape, and it's better to have seen it during your vacation.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful cove
Fantastic experience: A special spot, but be very careful in summer, it's nearly impossible to park.
Fantastic experience: At this time at the end of February, very good, a lot of tranquility and spectacular walks along the coastal path. In peak tourist season, it's a whole different world!
Fantastic experience: One of the best beaches on the Costa Brava. Well sheltered even on bad weather days. The downside is the limited parking available, so you either go early or outside of the high season. It also has easy access to the coastal path, part of the path with spectacular views! You can't miss it...
Fantastic experience: A beautiful cove with crystal clear waters, it's worth a visit.
Fantastic experience: Considering that in my opinion Begur is the best town on the Costa Brava and therefore everything that is part of it or its surroundings seems spectacular to me, I think Sa Tuna is a very good place to swim but also to have something to drink or take a walk, since unlike other coves that only have the beach, this one has several little houses and some bars that offer those worthwhile alternatives.
Fantastic experience: Pretty cove characteristic of the Costa Brava, very beautiful coastal path.
Fantastic experience: Begur, Tamariu, Sa Tuna... all this environment and these landscapes are postcard idylls. Sa Tuna is a small cove nestled in a small village, everything is beautiful and with strong tramuntana winds, it is even risky to be there. It is very well cared for and in summer it becomes almost inaccessible due to the people present. Narrow, white, and clean streets. Very few people around this time close to Christmas. I discovered it for the first time in November 2019 and it was a fantastic excursion. The path to the rock of Sa Tuna is impressive, just like the cliffs that can be seen, breathtaking. A beautiful land and an example of the power of mother nature and the sea. SPECTACULAR
Fantastic experience: Begur Cove, small and in winter with a calm and dreamy peace. It is part of the coastal path. In winter everything is closed.
Fantastic experience: I LOVE IT!!!! This little piece of beach is situated as they say.... At the end of the world. When you arrive here, you feel calm, rested, revitalized. For me, my favorite spot on the Costa Brava. There are paths that weave behind the houses and lead to beautiful viewpoints and delightful walks. But shh, don’t tell too many people because this little piece of the world that is still peaceful will quickly become crowded.
Fantastic experience: Radiant day in November with my parents. Cove with very clean turquoise water. Nice atmosphere and ample parking.
