Pola Cove
Information
Cala Pola is a beautiful cove located on the Costa Brava, famous for its turquoise and crystal-clear waters. Although it is an ideal place for snorkeling and enjoying nature, there are several aspects to consider before visiting:
- Accessibility: To reach the cove, you must park on the road and walk about 15-20 minutes, which can be challenging, especially if you are carrying many items.
- Crowdedness: During peak season, the cove tends to be quite crowded, which can detract from the peaceful experience some visitors seek.
- Water pollution: Many visitors have commented on the presence of trash and plastic in the water, which can be disappointing.
- Facilities: While there is a beach bar and toilets available, prices are considered high and service quality varies.
- Recommendations: It is advisable to arrive early to secure a good spot on the beach and avoid overcrowding.
Despite its drawbacks, Cala Pola remains one of the prettiest coves in the area, perfect for enjoying a vacation with family or friends.

Positive experience: Very beautiful beach but very crowded because it's on a campsite. Be careful, the 'official' parking belongs to the campsite, so they charge a lot: 20€!
Fantastic experience: Cala Pola is a cove located to the north of the municipality of Tossa de Mar, situated between Cala Giverola and Cala Bona. It has a beach made up of coarse sand and crystal clear waters. You can access it from the coastal path that leaves from the town of Tossa de Mar or by parking your car on the road (paid parking) and walking down the asphalt road located on the right side of the campsite.
Fantastic experience: Super beautiful bay just 5 min drive from Tossa. The beach is well equipped, you can find there toilet, restaurant, children's playground. Everything is new and clean. It is also very easy to enter the water compared to other beaches and it has a quite wide sand stripe which is nice if you travel with a baby. The bay is very popular so it is better to be there earlier to catch a parking slot. Unfortunately it is impossible to park hourly, only for a day, the price is 20 euros.
Fantastic experience: A beautiful cove, I recommend that if you don't want to pay €20 to park in the parking lot, you leave your car before or after, as there are different parking lots on one side of the road. The other option is to go by bus. Then the path to get there is paved and you walk along the camping site.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach located a few kilometers from Tossa de Mar within a very picturesque campsite (the beach is free, not part of the campsite). It has very small pebbles, the water is warm and crystal clear with a variety of colorful fish. On the beach, there is a kiosk where you can grab a snack or have an aperitif; there is also a very clean bathroom. The only downside is the parking, which is hard to find during the high season; otherwise, it is truly delightful. Top!!!

Positive experience: We hiked here from Cala Bona — the views on the way were amazing. Small beach with clear water, mix of sand and pebbles. There's also a nice little restaurant with tasty food, fair prices, and take away option. Perfect spot to relax and swim.
Fantastic experience: A beautiful corner on the Costa Brava. It has a beach bar service with outdoor tables. There are some trees that, with their shade, make the stop more welcoming. The sand is gritty, like small pebbles, somewhat uncomfortable to walk on but with the advantage that it doesn't stick. That's why these beaches don't require foot showers or rinsing stations. One must be careful at the shore because the descent to the water is steep, like a high step, and it quickly covers up to the knee or more. I wouldn't recommend it for children unless they are closely supervised. It can be reached on foot from Tossa de Mar by following the route known as 'Es Camí de Ronda'. Before arriving here, you also pass another spectacular cove, Cala Bona.

Fantastic experience: The best cove in the area, I will definitely return. If you go by car, you have to leave the car on the road and walk in through the camping area. The parking in the camping is only for those who stay there. The cove is beautiful, with sand and super clear water.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove with turquoise and very calm waters. To put a downside, the sand is quite coarse, like small stones. But the place is so nice that it's worth it.

Fantastic experience: Great hike from Tossa, might reconsider if you are someone with mobility issues or of older age. Views are really nice, restaurant, bathrooms and rentals available

Positive experience: This lovely beach is popular with families staying in the large camping park just behind the beach. It is accessible on foot from the amazing coastal path between Tossa de Mar and Giverola (highly recommended, but not with small children). There is a restaurant and bar just at the back of the beach which is expensive at 3 euros for a bottle of water, so take whatever you can! Nice beach for swimming, no lifeguard to tell you off for jumping off the rocks, and also a regular boat service to taxi you up the coast :)
Fantastic experience: Cala perfecta, vas con seguridad, pagas 14€ por coche y tienes acceso al parking, a la piscina, a las duchas, baños. Y el precio es por coche, da igual si vais 1,2 o 5, vale lo mismo.

Fantastic experience: A beautiful beach and pocket of paradise. Just be aware that if hiking from Tossa de Mar, the journey can be quite overwhelming as there is lots of up and downs.
Positive experience: Little cove, reachable on foot along a closed road next to the campsite. In the off-season with the campsite closed, it's a real gem - clean beach and crystal clear water.
Fantastic experience: Best full of peace…one of the best natural beaches..Cala Pola is around 18 km away from the city and it’s a very beautiful beach….

Fantastic experience: Difficult to park, you have to park on the road and that is only if you're lucky enough to find a spot. To get there, you have to descend for about 5-10 minutes. The cove is spectacular. I found a lot of plastic and dirt in the water, it's a pity. There is a beach bar and restrooms nearby! You can also rent paddle boards.

Fantastic experience: Cala Pola. A paradise cove with turquoise and crystal-clear water, medium/fine sand; for me, the most beautiful one in the area. Let's get to the important part: it tends to get crowded, as it's the second cove you encounter from Tossa de Mar when approaching via the coastal path. There are usually quite a few boats as well. Accessing it is a bit tricky, as it is surrounded (not to say invaded) by a hotel and a campsite, so you have to park up before the campsite and walk down the road leading to the cove next to the campsite. It's amazing for snorkeling and features a very pretty cave on the left side of the beach, which is easy to reach. The beach in general is quite wild, but there are two beach bars. For me, the most impressive in the area; the only downside is that it is invaded by the campsite. Still, I wouldn't stop visiting it. If you want more detailed reviews in Girona, follow me.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful cove. Not very large in size, this cove is ideal for snorkeling. To get there, it's necessary to walk 15 minutes if you're not a resident of the nearby campsite; you have to park further up and walk down the side road by the campsite. It's not very crowded, which is appreciated. Next to the cove, there's a restaurant. You can also see people practicing climbing.
Fantastic experience: Jolie calanque avec une grotte a visiter en snorkelling. Faut marcher un peu mais ça vaut le coup d œil

Negative experience: Even my wife felt uncomfortable due to the number of looks from African guys there. We won't return. But for diving, it's great because of the number of fish that inhabit the area.
Fantastic experience: Un posto meraviglioso e molto bello, pulito e divertente...ritorneremo

Pola Cove: Reviews

Fantastic experience: We were here in early May and had the place to ourselves. Very lucky out of season. Stunning beach with a cave and walking tracks to explore
Fantastic experience: A beautiful beach and pocket of paradise. Just be aware that if hiking from Tossa de Mar, the journey can be quite overwhelming as there is lots of up and downs.
Fantastic experience: An idyllic place with a storybook natural landscape
Fantastic experience: Top place.
Fantastic experience: It's also very beautiful without reaching, for me, the levels of Cala Bona... A little further back heading towards Tossa de Mar. The buildings by the sea for the profit of a few are excessive, but without people, it's gorgeous... I don't want to come in the summer, it must be packed with people and everything.
Positive experience: Wonderful. Always packed with people. At least the people are as beautiful as the beach.
Positive experience: Little cove, reachable on foot along a closed road next to the campsite. In the off-season with the campsite closed, it's a real gem - clean beach and crystal clear water.

Fantastic experience: Nice quiet family campsite with beautiful spacious pitches and friendly staff. You can walk to a beautiful bay with a beach. Within 10 minutes by electric bike, you're in the heart of Tossa del Mar with a few beautiful viewpoints along the way. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful and super tranquil beach, there is good structure and incredible water ('I was taking plastics out of the water all afternoon but still crystal clear waters'). There is a campsite market and you can park for free on the street.
Negative experience: Avoid during peak season or if the weather is very nice. This cove is basically a private beach for the campsite. There is no parking unless you pay €20, even if it's just for a couple of hours. If you manage to park nearby (without getting a ticket), you have to walk at least 15 to 20 minutes to reach the sea (walking around the campsite). As I said, during peak season there is hardly any space to lay down your towel, and the day we went it was super dirty, including human waste floating on the shore. In summary, we left as soon as we arrived; disgusting.
Fantastic experience: Easy access compared to other beaches, in the afternoon it gets completely crowded. Bring your supplies!
Positive experience: Overrated and a bit dirty
Negative experience: It's not a spectacular cove.. there are much better ones.
Negative experience: The cove is very beautiful, you can leave the car up top if you manage to find a spot in the dirt area, then you walk about 1km to get there. It's a pity because the water looked spectacular from above, but when we got there it was full of plastic of all kinds, it was practically impossible to find a spot where the water wasn't dirty. A real disappointment, especially after the walk.
Fantastic experience: The best cove I've been to so far, you just have to park on the road, but when you arrive it's worth it.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful and clean cove. Be careful with the jellyfish!
Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove, there are no showers, the take away has good food.
Positive experience: The cove is very cool, but it gets crowded quickly and you have to park far away and then walk at least 15/20 minutes. Additionally, it's full of boats in the summer.
Fantastic experience: The best beach in the area
Negative experience: They break windows and steal in the free parking lot.
Fantastic experience: My third favorite beach in Catalonia.
Positive experience: There are so many people, too much overcrowding at the campsite, literally if you don't go at 7 in the morning there is no space even to lay down a towel... The cove is beautiful but you can barely even stay there.
Negative experience: Complicated access, little parking, lots of people, very family-oriented atmosphere due to the camping and the hotel. A lot of 'I don't care if there's another person on the beach' mood.
Positive experience: Good cove, not very big or small. The bad thing I found was that to get to a public beach you can't use the car, you have to go on foot, since you have to leave the car in the parking lot, which I think is a bit expensive, and it takes about 10/15 minutes on foot to reach the cove depending on your pace. There is a small supermarket on the way to the cove and at the end we have a bar where I suppose you can sit down for a drink. Parking fee is €20, from 9 am to 9 pm.
Negative experience: The dirty water, the small space, a lot of people, many families with small children under 8 years old. Difficult to get there, they charge you for parking. The sun goes down early at 6:30 PM. I didn't like it.
Negative experience: The cove is very crowded, plus there are many young people with loud music and smoking 'stinky cigarettes'. To make matters worse, there are people camping on the beach. Finally, let's not forget the danger posed by the arrival of so many boats and the dirt they create in the water and on the beach. I had seen very nice videos on IG, but I can confirm that it's a big DISAPPOINTMENT and not recommendable.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful cove with crystal clear water. Ideal for snorkeling. As for parking, I left the car in one of the small dirt clearings on the sides of the road and had no problem. I arrived around 10:30 and there weren't many people, but then it started to get crowded. You access it by a path next to the camping entrance.
Negative experience: Restaurant by the pool with terrible paella.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful, the coastal path is worth it.
Fantastic experience: Very nice place
Positive experience: It's not easily accessible!! It is spectacular though!!
Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove with a beach bar at outrageous prices, to say the least.
Negative experience: Super hard to reach, not worth it, full of tourists and very dirty. There are better ones nearby.
Negative experience: The day I went was very bad, the water was a bit dirty and there were jellyfish, I didn't like this cove.
Positive experience: Beware of the jellyfish! I felt them myself (it still hurts after 2 days) and I do not recommend you do the same :)
Fantastic experience: Tranquility Service Animation Quality of the apartments
Fantastic experience: Difficult to park, you have to park on the road and that is only if you're lucky enough to find a spot. To get there, you have to descend for about 5-10 minutes. The cove is spectacular. I found a lot of plastic and dirt in the water, it's a pity. There is a beach bar and restrooms nearby! You can also rent paddle boards.
Fantastic experience: The best cove in the area, I will definitely return. If you go by car, you have to leave the car on the road and walk in through the camping area. The parking in the camping is only for those who stay there. The cove is beautiful, with sand and super clear water.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach, drive up is lovely, parking is difficult, definitely recommend
Positive experience: The beach is very beautiful, but there are a lot of people. The water, honestly, is full of trash, there are plastics everywhere. If you have to carry a lot of stuff and knick-knacks, you will have a hard time going down 1km loaded and then climbing back up the little hill of 1km.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove with turquoise and very calm waters. To put a downside, the sand is quite coarse, like small stones. But the place is so nice that it's worth it.
Fantastic experience: You park up on the road and have to walk down. There aren't many spots, but at the beginning of July at 10 there were still some left. There is a nice cave a few meters from the beach by the water and some more in the nearby cliffs accessible by canoe or SUP. At the end of the bar and almost at the entrance of the campsite, there are restrooms that you can enter.
Negative experience: Gravel. Too small beach with too many people. Too steep for children.
Fantastic experience: A gorgeous cove well worth visiting if you're nearby. Parking can be the tricky part, but it's worth the effort.
Fantastic experience: Amazing place. Recommended for visiting. The sea, stones and forest together made it unforgettable.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful place.
Fantastic experience: Spectacular cove
Positive experience: Good place although overcrowded... unfortunately, people are very rude and do not leave everything tidy as it should be, although the majority do it well.
Fantastic experience: A small beach, but very beautiful.
Negative experience: Dangerous due to animals like wild boars and because of the irresponsibility of those who manage it. After repeated attempts at amicable claims (with no interest from the company), we submitted a complaint to the Generalitat of Catalonia. It's a shame as the environment is beautiful.
Fantastic experience: It's our favorite cove in Barcelona. Unfortunately, it is getting crowded due to the camping that attracts many tourists.
Fantastic experience: One of the best coves
Fantastic experience: I was hiking and what a surprise when I arrived at this beautiful little beach. I loved it. The color was truly beautiful and the peace was infinite. The route I took was a part of the coastal path, very short honestly because it was my first time in Tossa de Mar, it's really worth exploring part of the Costa Brava.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach surrounded by rocks and amazing flora. Access is possible via stairs from several sides. Nearby are restaurants and the ancient Vila Vella with its photogenic 'secret passage', where tourists from all over the world happily take photos.
Fantastic experience: 800m walk on foot from the Hotel on the main road, cars not allowed to enter. The path is mostly asphalt, except the last 200m which are an easy trail between rocks down the cliff. Wonderful crystal sea, with even a big cave to explore but early morning to catch the sunlight.
Fantastic experience: I love it
Fantastic experience: One of my favorites
Fantastic experience: Beautiful place for a well-deserved vacation.
Fantastic experience: Spectacular cove, super tranquil and relaxing
Fantastic experience: Great place to spend the day, a quiet cove mostly with young people, you have to walk about 10 minutes down, you need to go parallel to the hotel.
Fantastic experience: Busy cove, the Ronda path goes through there. There are some low-height climbing routes on one side that are quite good for getting your fix on vacation, but be careful because on the first route, at the meeting point, the nut is loose. The cove is quite well maintained, but on the side where the routes are, it seems that people camp and leave trash.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove, with lots of sand and family-friendly. If you are looking to be alone or with few people, this is not the place. But it is a very nice cove, crystal clear water, clean, enjoyable.
Fantastic experience: Extremely beautiful that cove
Positive experience: The place is very beautiful but it gets crowded in the summer months. There is a campsite just a few meters away, and there is also a bar that you can go to without being part of the campsite. If you do not belong to the campsite, you should arrive early to park since there are barely any spaces; in some cases, people park along the roadside.
Fantastic experience: It is a small hidden paradise on the Costa Brava that is worth discovering. This charming cove offers turquoise and crystal-clear waters, surrounded by cliffs covered in vegetation. The beach is small, which gives it a more intimate and relaxed atmosphere compared to other busier beaches on the Costa Brava. Additionally, its access can be a bit challenging, making it a less known and visited corner. Given its limited size, it is important to arrive early to secure a good spot on the beach, especially during the high season.
Fantastic experience: Tropical beautiful cove
Fantastic experience: Unbelievable place!
Fantastic experience: Amazing, worth the trip!
Fantastic experience: Pure show
Positive experience: They have access from the campsite. It fills up quickly but the cove is amazing.
Positive experience: Very nice cove with great clear water. Those who enjoy jumping into the water from the rocks will also have a great time here. Unfortunately, there were many jellyfish in the water when we were there. The hiking path from Tossa is highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: Very cool place, it gets quite crowded but it's nice to be there.
Fantastic experience: Very pleasant cove, large sandy beach, quite a few fish to admire (among some black jellyfish). Access is only on foot... including from the road since the campsite, park by the roadside. 15/20 minutes on foot. Parking reserved only for campsite residents.
Positive experience: Beautiful cove! To get there you need to take a short journey, part of the road and finally a fairly steep staircase! There were a lot of people on the beach but we had a wonderful time.
Fantastic experience: Excellent place, preferably go on weekdays
Negative experience: In summer, which is when you usually go, it is very overcrowded. You end up not enjoying it.
Positive experience: Very nice, the only thing is that parking is complicated.
Positive experience: Difficult to park. The beach is narrow and long. It's very pretty anyway.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful place
Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove surrounded by nature. It's advisable to arrive early.
Fantastic experience: We loved it, small but beautiful and quiet
Positive experience: I wasn't very impressed, it's just another cove on the Costa Brava. I believe there are much better ones.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommended, the trip to the place is worth it, very very beautiful.
Fantastic experience: A beautiful cove where you can relax. It has a bar restaurant for eating, although the prices are quite high.
Positive experience: Packed with people, understandable because it was August, but still. I'm only writing to warn you about the scam they have at the beach bar or restaurant. 2 Coca-Colas and 2 small bottles of water -> 13€ UNBELIEVABLE.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove, spacious, with restrooms and a takeaway restaurant with picnic areas. 15-minute walk from public parking (it's best to go early).
For me, the most impressive in the area; the only downside is that it is invaded by the campsite. Still, I wouldn't stop visiting it. If you want more detailed reviews in Girona, follow me.
Fantastic experience: Gorgeous place, can be crowded but still nice. Bare in mind to bring your own umbrella, food and drink. The parking it's not that easy since you have to left it on the road.
Positive experience: Beautiful cove, nestled between cliffs. You have to park in the 'parkings' on the road. Beware! There is motorized police presence, so park well. The vibe of the cove is 'touristy', as there is a luxury campsite that has direct access to the cove. There is a path that allows you to shortcut and access the cove from the campsite itself, but be careful, you will need to follow someone from the campsite to exit, as there is wristband control (there is no surveillance, but the gate activates with the wristband). The restaurant at the cove is quite expensive. You should bring your own food and drinks. And beware! There is a presence of jellyfish... Overall, highly recommended visit.
Positive experience: The cove is beautiful and the walk from Tossa to get there is lovely, although there is a lot of trash around. It was September 1, 2023, and the beach was crowded. If you're looking to relax and enjoy the surroundings, I advise going outside of holiday dates if you don't want to hear the names of kids yelling and making noise, since it's a small cove surrounded by housing developments, hotels, campgrounds, and all the families end up there. Like good 21st-century parents, the parents are on one side of the beach and the kids on the other making noise and bothering others instead of bothering their parents.
