Mitjana Cove
Information
Cala Mitjana is a beautiful yet small cove located in Mallorca, accessible only by a 20-30 minute walk from the nearest parking area at Cala Sa Nau. Visitors describe the cove as picturesque, featuring crystal clear waters and stunning natural surroundings. However, there are several important considerations:
- Stunning Scenery: The water is described as incredibly clear, perfect for snorkeling, and the surrounding nature is relatively beautiful, ideal for a peaceful day.
- Challenging Access: The trek to the cove is rocky and can be difficult for children or those with mobility issues. Comfortable shoes are recommended for the 20-30 minute walk.
- Limited Space: The cove is small and can easily become crowded, especially around midday. Arriving early is advised for a more tranquil experience.
- Private Areas: Much of the surrounding land is private, which can affect the overall charm of the place, with limited areas for lounging or sitting.
- No Amenities: There are no facilities such as restaurants or restrooms nearby, so visitors should bring their own food and drinks.
Despite these drawbacks, many agree that the beauty of the cove makes the effort worthwhile, and it remains a hidden gem for those seeking nature away from the typical tourist crowds.

Fantastic experience: The most beautiful beach I've visited so far. On the right side, there is private property, but you can still jump into the water from a small elevation. In the center, there is a sandy beach, while to the left is a rocky shore, perfect for enjoying a sunny day. The water is crystal clear, and the whole experience is breathtaking. Although reaching the beach takes a bit of effort—a 15-20 minute walk from the nearest parking lot—it is absolutely worth it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 10/10.
Negative experience: I can't understand the reviews. The way there is one thing, but the cove is dirty, the place is tiny, and everything around is private and shut off. It seems as if public access must be ensured, and the property owners then do everything to prevent anyone from using that access.
Fantastic experience: A somewhat difficult path to Cala Mitjana. Rocky and very bumpy. The path is forbidden for cars. I advise families with strollers not to take this path. The cove is very small. In summer, there are extremely many tourists there. Those who come by car must drive to the parking lots across from the house with the tennis court, park there, and walk back the whole way to Cala Mitjana on foot. It's about 2 to 2.5 km. Not a pleasure for toddlers. Cala Mitjana has no toilets and no 'chiringuito' (food and drink sales). I recommend going to Cala Sanau. Everything is available there.
Fantastic experience: 2km on foot to access it, but it's worth it. Beautiful cove with splendid private property, great for snorkeling.
Fantastic experience: A beautiful place, though a long way, but it is worth it.

Fantastic experience: L'une des plus belles de l'île, petite cala de sable fin, le site et magnifique entre roche volcanique et pin maritime, 25 minutes de marche mais à l'arrivée ( vraiment que du bonheur).

Fantastic experience: Unmissable caletta even if small, it absolutely deserves a visit, with very white sand and water of indescribable blue! I absolutely suggest the route recommended in the reviews by Stefano Belletti, easily parking at Cala Sa Na Su, another beautiful cove but more crowded. The walk is pleasant and only 20 minutes long, but you absolutely need water shoes! It's only partly in the sun, but it's totally doable in August.
Fantastic experience: Very nice place, but go early in the morning. They accommodate about 25 people on the sand, and prepare good footwear as it's a 45-minute walk from the car. If you have mobility issues, don't go. The access is bad. The houses there belong to some bankers from Mallorca, Banca March. It has security during the summer months.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely a cove to visit. I recommend bringing water and food because there are neither bars, nor restaurants, nor showers or bathrooms. Small beach with crystal clear water and very clean sand. A little pearl of Palma. Bring sneakers or rock shoes for the path to get to the beach, which is very rocky, ups and downs. It takes a bit long to get there, but it is absolutely worth it!!!
Negative experience: A long walk to reach 10 square meters of sand, and you can't sit on the curbs of the house that overlooks the cove because it is private and they force you to leave. Very nice to go see, but don't think about spending the day.

Fantastic experience: Spectacular! But very, very small. There are signs indicating the way perfectly, but be prepared for a hike of at least 20 minutes. The path has slopes and irregular stones. The access is through some stairs. There are no services such as lifeguards, beach bars, or anything, so take everything with you.
Also besser Getränke und Verpflegung einplanen.

Fantastic experience: great beach and the little hike is definitely worth it! on the day we were there, there were small jellyfish in the water, but if you pay a little attention, they are not really bothersome. the water is otherwise absolutely dreamy!
Fantastic experience: Unmissable caletta even if small, it absolutely deserves a visit, with very white sand and water of indescribable blue! Negative experience: Unfortunately only one star, as there is hardly any space to lie down. Everything around is private and guarded by security. For us, a very unpleasant atmosphere. Also, you can only swim limitedly in the water, as there are many boats with snorkelers joining the countless people in the water. The 'beach' is only reachable by a 30-minute walk. Shortcuts have been deliberately blocked.

Fantastic experience: 2km on foot to access it, but it's worth it. Beautiful cove with splendid private property, great for snorkeling.
Fantastic experience: A beautiful cove and more secluded, meaning fewer typical tourists. The water was clearer than at the beach next door Cala sa Nau. Definitely worth a hike. I would recommend arriving early, as it gets full quickly and there are hardly any shaded spots. Also a great place for snorkeling. Recommendation: bring a sun umbrella, enough food and drink.
Fantastic experience: Small cove ideal for snorkeling. You can park at the Cala Sa Nau parking lot and walk along the cliff; you'll get there in 15-20 minutes. The path is not easy for seniors/children. It is advisable to go early because it is very small.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove

Fantastic experience: Very beautiful beach, it's a pity that it's stuck between two private properties. In summer, I think you have to get up very, very early to have space to lay down your towel.
Fantastic experience: A stunning, beautiful sandy bay and beach with crystal clear turquoise waters that can be accessed by boat or on foot. The path to it is very rough and not suitable for bicycles, and it is surrounded by private properties, but everyone can swim and engage in diving... it is worth the visit and the adventure.
Fantastic experience: 2km on foot to access it, but it's worth it. Beautiful cove with splendid private property, great for snorkeling.
Fantastic experience: A nice cove where you can stop for a moment with a yacht at anchor. From 13 to 5 meters deep, the bottom is suitable for anchoring. The water is clear and it's enjoyable to dive and watch the fish. Surrounded by a low cliff. A lovely place.
Positive experience: Nice place to be!
Negative experience: Hidden beach that is apparently owned privately by someone now? We tried driving there, but at the end of the road we were met by a sign that said 'private property', so we just went to the beach next to it.
Fantastic experience: A beautiful place, though a long way, but it is worth it.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful... Unfortunately very small and cramped... Footpath... But it's worth it
Fantastic experience: Super beach
Positive experience: Beautiful beach but you have to figure out how to get there because it's not indicated everywhere.
Fantastic experience: great beach and the little hike is definitely worth it! on the day we were there, there were small jellyfish in the water, but if you pay a little attention, they are not really bothersome. the water is otherwise absolutely dreamy!
Fantastic experience: We arrived by boat, it went quite well. The bay/beach is very beautiful.

Fantastic experience: Very beautiful, but crowded by sea and land, as expected at this time of year.
Positive experience: A small and quiet cove. 20 minutes walking from the Cala Sa Nau parking lot. Disadvantage: full of private areas by individuals (paths, complexes, houses..) that detract from its charm.
Positive experience: The cove is beautiful, we went in a little boat and after dropping the anchor we swam to the shore, it’s small and pretty.. but no one talks about some tiny fish that if you’re not careful, they nibble your nails… they bite fabric. I suppose those are released by the private property up top, they could at least feed them before releasing them or train them a bit hahaha.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful bay, with clear water. Also easily accessible on foot from the parking lot of Cala Sa Nau, about 15-20 minutes of walking. It's best to arrive early, then you can have 2-3 hours of peace. From around 11 AM, it gets busier during peak travel time. Still worth a visit.
Fantastic experience: Speechless
Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove, we visited it by boat, it's worth it.
Fantastic experience: Small cove ideal for snorkeling. You can park at the Cala Sa Nau parking lot and walk along the cliff; you'll get there in 15-20 minutes. The path is not easy for seniors/children. It is advisable to go early because it is very small.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove and very quiet until a certain hour. We arrived around 9:30 and there were very few people, by 11 it was filled with people and boats. To reach it, I recommend parking at Cala sa Nau, you will find a large free parking (try not to arrive too late, when we left at 12:30 it was packed and many were looking for spots). From here there is a not too difficult path and in 20 minutes you reach Cala Mitjana.
Fantastic experience: The way is very difficult to get there but it's worth it.
Fantastic experience: Small but nice
Positive experience: beautiful quiet beach, a bit too many algae :)
Fantastic experience: Beautiful place, a bit rocky, but really beautiful.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful
Fantastic experience: It requires quite a bit of walking to get there as the road is quite rough and you can't even go by bike. But the beach is worth it. It's not the cleanest, but the waters are crystal blue.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove.
Positive experience: We went in April and it was completely full of seaweed, making it impossible to bathe.
Negative experience: There’s nowhere to park close to the beach - Google shows you the road you can’t take
Negative experience: The closest parking is almost half an hour away on foot, and walking almost an hour round trip in summer with temperatures over 30 degrees seems like a bad joke to me. It's not worth it at all.
Negative experience: A long walk to reach 10 square meters of sand, and you can't sit on the curbs of the house that overlooks the cove because it is private and they force you to leave. Very nice to go see, but don't think about spending the day.
Positive experience: Beautiful cove but difficult to access, especially if you go with children. Once you arrive, there is absolutely nothing there, just a big mansion with its guards to prevent you from entering, so take what you will need (water, food….)
Negative experience: There is nothing special here. A 25-minute walk from car parking along a quite jagged road without any view, only to land on a miniscule beach bordering a private property. It was one of the biggest wastes of my time on this island.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful cove, but you have a complex walk of at least 30 minutes. WORTH IT.
Fantastic experience: One of the best coves in Mallorca
Negative experience: Private prohibited. Hard to go there, private guard on place.
Positive experience: I can't evaluate it, the beach is definitely nice as everywhere else. But the access by car is bad.
Fantastic experience: Beach surrounded by nature and private properties. Dreamlike translucent water. Access to the beach requires good shoes as the path is difficult; I have a video of a segment of this. Once you arrive, it's well worth the heat and the walk. Small sandy area but a charming place. No beach services. Parking is 30 minutes from the beach and the path signage is very visible.
Fantastic experience: Amazing
Positive experience: Trash in water and a lot of jelly fish. The beach and water are beautiful though.
Fantastic experience: Another beautiful cove among many in Mallorca. All worthy of enjoying.
Positive experience: You have to walk 25 minutes from where you park the vehicle; for a small cove, it was not overcrowded.
Negative experience: It's a shame the privatization of the coastal land. Save yourself the walk except to see the furat and the caves shortly after leaving Sanau.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful cove, unfortunately some plastic in the water. No sanitary facilities on site. But definitely worth a visit.
Positive experience: I hope this cove starts to be taken care of more; there is a lot of trash, and the public space is very limited, almost everything is occupied by a nearby luxury development. You have to walk about 10-15 minutes from the parking lot.
Positive experience: A nice place with a quiet area. The beach area is sheltered and there were many seaweeds. But the water is very clear.
Fantastic experience: It's hard to get there, but it really is worth it, peaceful and very beautiful.
Fantastic experience: Tiny and beautiful cove, you have to walk about 25 minutes but the terrain is mostly flat.
Fantastic experience: A half-hour walk to access this wonderful cove
Fantastic experience: Sublime, perfect. One desire when we arrive is to dive into this turquoise sea.
Fantastic experience: Not a big beach, but a totally beautiful bay. Chic villa.
Fantastic experience: To reach this cove, you have to walk for 30 minutes (2km). You can't get there by car, but you can park nearby. However, it is really worth it because it is super natural and a wonder.
Fantastic experience: Super beautiful bay. However, you need to bring a lot of time to get there. The bay is not accessible by car; instead, you have to take a longer walk (about 30 minutes). Once you arrive, you quickly realize that the long journey was worth it!
Fantastic experience: Lovers of hiking, we came here from Cala d'Or. At the beginning, the paths are paved, giving way to the typical stony paths in the last kilometer. The reward is at the end of this path!!! A pair of sneakers or hiking shoes are definitely a must!!!! Very small beach surrounded by upscale residences where the water is crystal clear with not much depth!!! A must see and to relax there!!!
Negative experience: You have to park the car on the road and walk along narrow roads without a shoulder, with traffic, about 2 km.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful spot just a short stroll from Cala Galdana
Fantastic experience: It is an incredibly beautiful place!! Prepare your eyes and bring your drinks, food and sunscreen and everything you need because there are no sales of anything around it, it is a private place and access is a little complicated, only mountain bikes or only walking. But it's worth going to see!
Fantastic experience: Lovely walk on a spring day
Fantastic experience: My top favorite beaches I visited on Mallorca. The hike is a bit hard and long but definitely worth it. There’s a private road for a house (the shortest) and a long path of 20min.
Fantastic experience: White sand, crystal clear water - paradise! You do have to walk a bit (about 25 minutes, sneakers recommended) but it's worth it. The cove is relatively small, so it fills up quickly.
Positive experience: Very beautiful cove, but everything is private area; you can't do anything at all.
Fantastic experience: Small and very intimate beach. Well worth the 5-10min walk on a rocky path. (Follow the signs back a few corners, approximately 300m, from where you park your car alongside an outside sports area) and then take a right into the rocky footpath.
Positive experience: It's cool like the rest of the coves. The way to get there is walking for more than 10 minutes. Small beach and you can't pass because there are houses and it's a private area.
Fantastic experience: After a short walk, one of the prettiest coves ☀️
Positive experience: Really not easy to find, we discovered the way rather by chance (hint on a wall). Depending on where you find a parking spot, you walk 10-20 minutes on a rocky path. The bay is beautiful, although very small, with private properties on the left and right.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove with transparent water. To get there, you can only go through a hiking trail, accessible only on foot, not suitable for vehicles.
Fantastic experience: There is public access. If there are still hidden gems in Mallorca, this cove is one of them. Accessible from Cala Sanau.
Fantastic experience: One of the most beautiful visits and also a favorite for this cove. MAGNIFICENT
Fantastic experience: Absolutely beautiful hiking trail
Fantastic experience: a dream bay. It is beautifully planted, is mostly very quiet. You can hike to Cala Sa Nau. Swim and enjoy, one of the most beautiful bays around Cala d'Or. I will come back.
Fantastic experience: Very small cove directly on a luxury property. 15 min. walk from Cala Sanau over the rocks.
Positive experience: There is better! A hike to get there! We went in September and I think it's unlivable in July and August!!!
Fantastic experience: It is worth the effort to get there on foot.
Positive experience: Beautiful bathing cove, but a long walk, not suitable for people with walking disabilities.
Fantastic experience: This fabulous beach has the only downside of access, but the walk is well worth it. The positive: pristine beaches surrounded by well-kept gardens and crystal-clear waters. The negative: It is not understandable how Urban Planning and Environment have allowed houses to be built so close to this coast, and the owners of those houses have insisted on making access as difficult as possible, given that in Spain a beach cannot be privatized (something that the owners of those houses would undoubtedly want to achieve).
Negative experience: Don't go there, it's a scam, 30 minutes of walking and there's no beach.
Negative experience: Full of posidonia seaweed. Black sea. Many confuse it with another, including the photos.
Fantastic experience: With the most beautiful cove in the east
Fantastic experience: Without a doubt the most beautiful beach visited on the island during our trip
Fantastic experience: Very small beach, but also a very beautiful cove. Quite difficult to get there, by hiking on foot or by sea. Car and bus are not an option here.
Negative experience: There are really nicer places on the island. The difficult path is not worth it for this bay. The neighboring private houses and their owners are also happy when people make themselves comfortable over their barriers on the terrace...
Positive experience: Very beautiful. But crowded. And it's a long walk (from the parking). But very beautiful!!
Positive experience: Very pretty little cove, but you have to walk about 30 minutes to get there. Only a few parking spots on the roadside.
Positive experience: It can be reached with a long walk. It's not worth that much walking. Many parts of the area are private. Beautiful, but there are a lot of people here too, despite being told it was deserted.
Positive experience: Dreamy cove and easily reachable by boat. We rented a 15 HP boat in Cala d'Or and went into the cove. It was very calm, and not too crowded, so we anchored for a few hours. The water is very clear and somewhat shallower, which allows for a good view of the bottom. One downside is the small jellyfish in the water. And because there are no toilets, changing rooms, or anything else.
Fantastic experience: A fantastic beach, it is very beautiful. Many people report a bad experience due to the 2 km walk that must be made on foot and the small size of the beach, around 20 meters of sand, but we went early, around 8 am and it was empty. It is very beautiful for taking photos. There is a lot of variety of fish, it's worth bringing snorkeling goggles. The beach is in the middle of a private property and it is normal to see yachts parked there, just know how to live in a community and not trespass into private space.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful hidden cove with very clear water. You do have to walk about 20-25 minutes from the parking lots, but it is definitely worth it. The water is very pleasant and there were really few people there. The only downside is that, like at several places, there are fewer lounging spots, so you have to sit on the stones.
Negative experience: There are two medium coves in Mallorca. And they are completely different. This one is in the north. The one in the southeast is another cuter one. There you have that information so that you don't go through what I did.
Fantastic experience: Arrived on our private little boat we rented, my god what a paradise. No words, just need to go.
Negative experience: Very small cove, bad access and everything around it is private property; there are several houses right there and you bathe at the very door of one of the homes. You have to leave the car quite far away on a super narrow road and then walk almost 30m along a dirt and stone path that gets even worse as you reach the cove (go in sneakers). The shore was full of seaweed, you couldn't sit there, you could only sit on the rocks, the truth is that I expected more and there are better beaches. Bring drinks and food because there is nothing there.
