Jewel Beach
Information
The Playa de la Joya is a true natural refuge, perfect for those seeking tranquility and a naturist atmosphere. This small cove, accessible only via a long staircase down from the cliffs, offers stunning scenery and clear waters that are ideal for snorkeling.
Visitor opinions highlight several aspects:
- The beach is known for its calm and respectful environment, primarily naturist.
- The stairs leading to the beach are quite demanding and not suitable for people with reduced mobility, contributing to its low crowding.
- A strong point is the beautiful view from the lookout and the opportunity to enjoy magical sunsets.
- However, some users have mentioned inappropriate behavior from other bathers, which can affect the experience.
- There are no services like beach bars or showers, so it's advisable to bring supplies for the day.
Despite the stairs and lack of facilities, many agree the visit to this hidden gem on the Granada coast is worth it.

Negative experience: THIEFS WARNING! ALERT! 18 August 2025 We arrived around 17.30 and left around 19.00. Parked almost at the last spot of the parking before the exit. It was plain daylight and busy. We came back to find our van with two drilled locks. Looks like they didn't manage to get in probably because someone passed by and they were gonna be spotted. I can imagine it's not the first or the last since it's an isolated parking on the side of the road with no cameras. Be careful.
Positive experience: It is a NATURIST beach, that is to say, NUDIST. One of the few nudist tradition beaches on the Tropical Coast, with difficult access and where non-nudists come in summer like swarms of locusts to corner us nudists on one side. Don't you have thousands of kilometers of coastline where you can wear a swimsuit?
Positive experience: Difficult access, there is a large staircase to go down to the beach. Quiet beach.
Positive experience: I went with my partner, not knowing it was a nudist beach. Very beautiful beach and good for snorkeling. Parking close to the beach but very tedious stairs, not suitable for people with reduced mobility. It wasn't very crowded.
Positive experience: The beach is beautiful and ideal for snorkeling, but the path and stairs to get there are very tough and demanding since there is no shade along the way, especially if you are carrying chairs, umbrellas, etc. There is no beach bar, no restrooms, and no shower, bring water shoes.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove with stones and clear water.
Fantastic experience: Very senic, not the best sand though.

Fantastic experience: The beach is beautiful in itself, it is a wonder. It is a small cove that is accessed by somewhat tedious stairs, both because of the number of steps, the length of the stairs, and how uncomfortable the steps are, although perhaps this inconvenience makes it a quieter place. There are no beach bars or bars on the beach. I loved it. They say it is nudist, maybe it is because there are few people and there is a bit more privacy, but I didn't see any sign indicating this fact.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful and natural beach. No showers or beach bar. No access for wheelchairs. If you want to go with a pram or babies/toddlers, the steps to the beach are very steep and might become a challenge to go down and up.

Fantastic experience: I stumbled upon this beach by chance. Ideal nudist spot. Moreover, the water temperature was pleasant and today it was crystal clear. Little paradise.
Fantastic experience: The experience is unique at this secluded beach, almost hidden on the coast of Motril. It is nudist, although there are people wearing clothes. The water is crystal clear and well-maintained, with ample parking. You can see the magical sunsets. My favorite place to unwind.

Positive experience: Beautiful nude beach, stairs down are in good condition, beach not too crowded. You can actually walk here along the cliffs from Torrenueva which is great if you don’t have a car. Gay male dominated. There was one older man, presumably straight, staring at me and my gf unfortunately.

Fantastic experience: Un lugar precioso para hacer snorkel
Positive experience: The beach is beautiful and ideal for snorkeling, but the path and stairs to get there are very tough and demanding since there is no shade along the way, especially if you are carrying chairs, umbrellas, etc. There is no beach bar, no restrooms, and no shower, bring water shoes.

Positive experience: Okay beach. But better ones to be found in the area
Fantastic experience: Excellent nudist beach. There aren't too many people.
Fantastic experience: I stumbled upon this beach by chance. Ideal nudist spot. Moreover, the water temperature was pleasant and today it was crystal clear. Little paradise.
Negative experience: Naturist Beach. It is appreciated that this condition is respected and that people wearing swimsuits choose another beach.

Negative experience: Nudism, although there are certain practices that are not done entirely in secret and should not be done in public. The first time I went was very nice, natural environment; the second time there were unpleasant situations that should not occur in public.
Positive experience: I like this beach. It's quiet, it usually doesn't have many people. They have parking areas. It's a mixed beach (textile and naturist) although I got to know it as one of the naturist beaches in Granada. Don't forget to wear water shoes, as it is a rocky cove and there is a ladder down to the cliff, so avoid going too loaded.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful sea, colder water, plenty of options for activities and leisure time.
Positive experience: great naturist beach, many stairs but beautiful view to go down, the beach is rocky like most along the coast in southern Spain
Fantastic experience: Bra beach but a lot of stones and deep right away when you go into the water. Good for sunbathing.
Fantastic experience: 100% recommended, you can go cruising in the late evenings.
Fantastic experience: A super beautiful beach, surrounded by cliffs and sheltered from the wind. There is a parking lot nearby, and by going down some stairs, you can easily reach it. In May at least, it is quiet and respectful. A delight.
Fantastic experience: The experience is unique at this secluded beach, almost hidden on the coast of Motril. It is nudist, although there are people wearing clothes. The water is crystal clear and well-maintained, with ample parking. You can see the magical sunsets. My favorite place to unwind.
Positive experience: La Cala is about 7-8 km from Motril Cove, it is a very well-preserved space, for now, a small cove ideal for spending the day, swimming, and sunbathing, almost with nothing more than the sound of the sea waves as company. Access is not easy, but there is not much issue getting there, and it is well signposted; when you reach the Carchuna tunnel, there is a right turn that leads us to the beach path. Once there, we will see that the last stretch has to be done on foot; we have to go down a staircase of almost 200 steps. The cliff and the rocks that shelter this piece of beach make the tides and storms hardly reach the shore, allowing us to enjoy calm most of the days. It is an ideal place to swim and sunbathe; this beach has a naturist section, meaning you can decide whether to wear a swimsuit or not, although most people who go do not. I recommend it for a peaceful day at the beach.
Fantastic experience: Really beautiful and above all quiet beach away from the usual tourist circus.
Fantastic experience: A great beach with a beautiful cliff
Fantastic experience: Beautiful cove with stones and clear water.

Positive experience: Nice place
Fantastic experience: A lot of wind, but good beach.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful and natural beach. No showers or beach bar. No access for wheelchairs. If you want to go with a pram or babies/toddlers, the steps to the beach are very steep and might become a challenge to go down and up.
Positive experience: Quiet nudist area and access is quite easy
Fantastic experience: A very secluded and quiet beach, with ample parking. It has very long stairs! But they are very beautiful. They wind down the cliff to the beach. Mainly nudist.
Fantastic experience: Its name suits it well. It is not exactly easy to access, but that is also one of its charms. Nature in its purest state.
Fantastic experience: Very senic, not the best sand though.
Positive experience: Beautiful nude beach, stairs down are in good condition, beach not too crowded. You can actually walk here along the cliffs from Torrenueva which is great if you don’t have a car. Gay male dominated.
