Regla Beach
Information
The Playa de Regla is a beautiful beach located in Chipiona, Spain, known for its wide expanse of fine sand and the presence of numerous restaurants and chiringuitos right on the shore. Visitors appreciate the stunning views of the nearby sanctuary, church, and lighthouse. It is one of the few spots in the area where swimming is still possible during low tide. However, the beach has faced criticism due to littering issues, with cigarette butts and other debris detracting from its natural beauty. Additionally, it gets quite crowded during the summer months, which may make finding a peaceful spot challenging.
- Highlights: Family-friendly environment, great for strolls, beautiful views.
- Drawbacks: Often overcrowded, concerns about cleanliness, and presence of rocks in some areas.

Fantastic experience: Beach quite accessible for people with reduced mobility. There are public restrooms.
Fantastic experience: As every summer, the best, comfortable, quiet, good atmosphere, and very close to hotels, apartments, with very affordable prices, with supermarkets at every corner.
Positive experience: Lying on the beach all the time, taking a refreshing bath in the Atlantic, is it boring in the long run? Then a beach walk should help. The start is the dam that borders Playa Regla to the lighthouse, Spain's tallest built lighthouse at over 60m high. The ochre-yellow church right by the beach is striking. Depending on the tide, the seaside walk varies greatly. At high tide, the water is so high that your feet sink into the soft sand of the beach. And the sea usually looks ordinary. But when the tide comes out, the picture changes dramatically. The beach becomes very wide, the ground hard. Reefs emerge from the water. The so-called Los Corrales. These are huge, very old, artificial reefs that serve fishing. The fish and other sea creatures that do not make it over the outer edge of the reef when the tide goes out are trapped and can be fished. A sustainable method of fishing. At the same time, as the tide recedes, more guests appear. Various beach walkers, herons, and egrets. You have to look closely to recognize some of these birds. When they hardly move, they almost blend in with the reef. For those who are really good on foot, there is a hike of up to 16 km ahead. It then ends in Rota. You pass various stands. Also, some beach bars, the Chiringuitos, in case you get thirsty. Don’t forget the return journey.

Chipiona provides terrible services regarding the beach. Some of us permanent residents we will take an early walk in the beach and we see the rented umbrellas, many people enjoying the beach but the bathrooms / services are closed. Where do people go to use the bathroom? Of course, they will do it in the water. There are also many dogs in the beach and according to the rules, these infractions carry fines of 600 Euros, but nobody appears to be doing that work in the morning. Also, the beach in the morning is a mess, garbage everywhere, and the cleaning service is starting too late ... the bathrooms / services must be running by 8 in the morning. Do not be lazy, get up early and improve these services as soon as possible... ..That appearance makes Chipiona look like a dirty and filthy place.

Fantastic experience: Spectacular! These have been our first holidays in Chipiona and we will definitely repeat next year. The beach is amazing, with its peculiar rises and falls of the tide. Flanked on one side by the tallest lighthouse in Spain (still in operation) and on the other by the Sanctuary of Virgen de Regla. There are beach bars right on the beach and several areas with umbrellas and rental hammocks. It's also very useful and curious to know that different stalls pass by the beach selling cold drinks, chips, and snacks in the afternoon, and pastries in the evening. The sunsets are truly amazing! The sand beaches are very fine, with hardly any rocks. Although there are trash bins available, it is true that the sand could be a little cleaner, but, as usual, it's the fault of human hands. Super recommended!
Positive experience: A wide, fine-sand beach, and one of the few spots in the area where you can swim even during low tide.
Negative experience: A very pretty beach behind the sanctuary; you are on the beach and looking at the sanctuary! But the worst part is the thousand cigarette butts on the shore and in the sand!! The smoking neighbors from Chipiona are very dirty and throw everything on the sand!! What a shame!! I will not return! I have no need for my son to be playing on the shore among cigarette butts!! I hope the Mayor takes note. Best regards.
Positive experience: Beautiful beach with a lot of people. I recommend positioning yourself between the sanctuary and the lighthouse; further away, there are many rocks and it's impossible to bathe peacefully.
Negative experience: I don't like it at all, there are many rocks in the sand and it is small.

Fantastic experience: A beautiful beach, well-maintained and with all services, showers, restrooms, and beach bars, to the left the Basilica of Regla and to the right the impressive lighthouse.

Fantastic experience: Very good beach. It is very spacious and comfortable in the sense that you have bars nearby. It is usually quite clean. It has W.C. services, beach bars every few meters, a Civil Protection post, lifeguards, etc. The sea water is usually quite good. Furthermore, unlike the Mediterranean beaches, like Málaga or Granada, which tend to be quite deep after you have walked in about 5 meters, at Playa de Regla you can go in several dozen meters without being completely covered by water. There are also usually vendors selling soft drinks and sweets, in case you have a craving for a drink or snack.

Fantastic experience: One reaches the very beautiful beach via a wooden walkway that leads through a dune landscape. The food at the beach bar is very good.

Fantastic experience: Muy buena playa.

Fantastic experience: Great beach with good facilities such as free toilets among others. It is well maintained. It can get quite busy, but there is always a spot. There are carts with ice cream and other treats. The flags indicating whether the water is safe are also well used. Because it slopes gently, you can go quite far into the sea, especially at low tide. There are bins for separating waste, and most people do that. Only with the cigarette butts it is a bit less. Good and safe beach, also for small children.
Positive experience: A wide, fine-sand beach, and one of the few spots in the area where you can swim even during low tide.

Negative experience: Beach with a beach bar and services, but the cleanliness of the sand leaves much to be desired, full of cigarette butts, sunflower seed shells, etc. Incivility is what it has.

Regla Beach: Reviews
Fantastic experience: A beautiful beach, well-maintained and with all services, showers, restrooms, and beach bars, to the left the Basilica of Regla and to the right the impressive lighthouse.

Positive experience: Beautiful but there are a lot of people at the beginning of September and if it's a holiday and the weather is nice, logically, even more. It's better to visit at another time if you don't want to have to look for another beach.
Positive experience: A beautiful, charming, and very family-friendly beach. The only drawback is that it is a bit neglected, but the only ones to blame for that are the people. Other than that, it's a great beach.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful sunset
Fantastic experience: Spectacular, but very crowded during peak months
Positive experience: A wide, fine-sand beach, and one of the few spots in the area where you can swim even during low tide.
Negative experience: A very pretty beach behind the sanctuary; you are on the beach and looking at the sanctuary! But the worst part is the thousand cigarette butts on the shore and in the sand!! Positive experience: A beautiful beach
Fantastic experience: I loved it
Positive experience: The main beach of Chipiona
Positive experience: Beautiful beach with a lot of people. I recommend positioning yourself between the sanctuary and the lighthouse; further away, there are many rocks and it's impossible to bathe peacefully.
Positive experience: The tapas and dishes were delicious and the amount was just right for the price; however, the wait was terrible, taking 2 hours to eat. The kitchen is slow, on a god-level.
Fantastic experience: A very beautiful beach for a walk, the sanctuary looks incredible, one of the best beaches in Cádiz.
Fantastic experience: Beach quite accessible for people with reduced mobility. There are public restrooms.
Fantastic experience: A beach and a very family-friendly atmosphere, one of my favorite places.
Positive experience: It is always overcrowded. But this time we went a little further down from the sanctuary and it was wonderful.
Negative experience: Disgusting, full of bugs that stick to your body.
Fantastic experience: Good beaches in Chipilandia
Fantastic experience: Spectacular huge beach
Fantastic experience: Luxury. A beach to return to.
Negative experience: I don't like it at all, there are many rocks in the sand and it is small.
Fantastic experience: As every summer, the best, comfortable, quiet, good atmosphere, and very close to hotels, apartments, with very affordable prices, with supermarkets at every corner.
Positive experience: Very large, with a lot of services in certain areas and beautiful views with the lighthouse on one side and the sanctuary on the other. We spent the afternoon soaking. There are plenty of platforms to play in the sea. Very crowded in summer, but you can find a spot to be comfortable in the sand.
Positive experience: I recommend it. Very beautiful.
Fantastic experience: Nice and quiet beach.
Positive experience: Good place to sunbathe but not to swim, lots of seaweed on the shore
Fantastic experience: Very good beach. It is very spacious and comfortable in the sense that you have bars nearby. It is usually quite clean. Fantastic experience: Chipiona has something special.
Fantastic experience: Very good beaches in Chipiona, a wonder.
Fantastic experience: The town hall of Chipiona does not seem to be a town hall that listens to visitors; it feels more like a mental hospital. It is very poorly maintained. Regla beach is great...
Fantastic experience: Spectacular beach and I can't tell you about the people, likewise.
Fantastic experience: In winter, better.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful
Positive experience: Lying on the beach all the time, taking a refreshing bath in the Atlantic, is it boring in the long run? Then a beach walk should help. Fantastic experience: Cozy place
Positive experience: Fine sand, large and beautiful beach
Fantastic experience: I love Chipiona, its beaches like no other for me, the crystal clear water, plenty of space, white sand, and above all the view of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Regla and the lighthouse, which I believe is the second tallest in Europe at 62 meters, not bad at all.
Fantastic experience: One reaches the very beautiful beach via a wooden walkway that leads through a dune landscape. The food at the beach bar is very good.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful Chipiona
Fantastic experience: The best beach in the world
Fantastic experience: Magnificent beach
Fantastic experience: For me, one of the best there is in Cádiz
Fantastic experience: One of my favorite places, although it is always overcrowded...
Positive experience: One of the best beaches I've visited
Fantastic experience: Spectacular beach with plenty of waves where we had a great time like kids
Positive experience: A nice walk at sunset
Negative experience: Beach with a beach bar and services, but the cleanliness of the sand leaves much to be desired, full of cigarette butts, sunflower seed shells, etc. Incivility is what it has.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful beach with its fine sand, calm waves, and family-friendly atmosphere that welcomes you as soon as you arrive, even if you're not from there. There are several beach bars on the beach, and the restrooms are in perfect condition despite entering at the last hour of the afternoon. I will return whenever I can.
Positive experience: The beach is very dirty, full of cigarette butts, it looks like an ashtray and it's regrettable. No matter how much they try to remove the sand to give it a cleaner appearance, it is impossible, there is so much trash and butts that no cleaning will suffice, very neglected.
Positive experience: Very nice views, calm beach
Fantastic experience: Wonderful beach and great vibes and light. Many restaurants around and nice atmosphere!
Fantastic experience: Beautifully kept beach. Lots of places on the boardwalks and the beach chirrinquitos for lunch and drinks.
