Banyalbufar Cove
Information
Cala Banyalbufar is a charming destination that offers a unique experience on the coast of Mallorca. This quiet cove is known for its crystal-clear water and beautiful views, making it an ideal spot to enjoy nature and go snorkeling.
However, it's important to note some challenges. Access to the cove can be tricky, as you have to walk down a steep path, and there can be difficulties finding parking. Many users have mentioned that the beach is rocky and sometimes covered with seaweed, which can affect the swimming experience.
Despite these inconveniences, most visitors describe the beauty of the landscape and the tranquility of the place as major attractions. Here’s a summary of the opinions:
- Amazing views from the viewpoint.
- Clear water and good for snorkeling.
- Difficult access, especially when climbing back up.
- Beach with seaweed and rocks, not recommended for families with small children.
- Less touristy atmosphere, which can be a plus for some.

Fantastic experience: Difficult, very steep path down (from the place). However, the path was worth it and we also swam here. Definitely take swimming shoes, as the entrance can be slippery and there are also many stones there. The water and the view are wonderful. There is also a small waterfall.
Fantastic experience: It is beautiful there. The sea is crystal clear and clean. The bay was hardly visited at the end of September. Unfortunately, you have to take steep paths and stairs to get there. This is certainly not for everyone, but I think it's worth it.
Fantastic experience: A different but very beautiful cove, you can park in the free parking or in the village 10 minutes away on foot.
Positive experience: Stony beach. The descent to it is steep. About 15 minutes. There is a small waterfall on the beach.
Fantastic experience: Crystal clear and fresh water. Unmatched view. I highly recommend it!! There were some jellyfish, but the kids with their little nets took care of getting them out. We drove down to the parking lot, but be careful! You have to go early, I recommend around 10/11 AM because it gets crowded later! (And you have to leave the car in the town). To get there, it's a steep descent but doable. The uphill walk in the sun is something I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Positive experience: Cove er me in daddy ham - very mixed small stones in the toes? But water in the sea? Was I here or was this a dream?
Positive experience: Nice little waterfall, beautiful view, but otherwise nothing special and no sand or anything to lie down comfortably.
Positive experience: This is not a sand beach. It’s a poured concrete beach. Walk in is cool and it’s rocky. Cool for snorkel if but not really suitable for children. Swimming shoes recommended. But still refreshing.
Fantastic experience: Amazing little village with amazing view points... Banyalbufsr is cute tiny village and the play is rocks and stones but the water and the location bis so beautiful

Fantastic experience: Dangerous to swim: rip currents, but no buoys in the water as indicated on the information sheet. So you don’t know where the currents are exactly and it’s not possible to grab a buoy for safety.
Negative experience: Quallen / Naturstrand / keine Gastronomie o. Toiletten o. Sicherheitspersonal Wir waren vom Strand sehr enttäuscht.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful coastal beach town with amazing breathtaking views. Highly recommend a visit. Just be mindful of the steep roads if mobility is an issue.

Fantastic experience: Super beautiful cove!! Great pebble/rock beach, very natural. And quiet. Natural shower! Also calm water. Nice for snorkeling. Sufficient parking available; directly below, halfway up and at the top in the town. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Mallorca!!
Fantastic experience: The cove is spectacular! The views from the upper walkway are impressive, and as you enter the cove, there are some fresh water jets where you can bathe. In the past, the waterfalls were more powerful; nowadays, with all the water issues, they have cut off and sent water to the town, as they were telling us. The area to lay down your towel is all stone, a bit uncomfortable; in truth, they are old docks, so you have to manage. And for snorkeling, it's quite cool. Lots of variety and being all stone, good visibility. Recommended: water shoes!
Positive experience: This is not a sand beach. It’s a poured concrete beach. Walk in is cool and it’s rocky. Cool for snorkel if but not really suitable for children. Swimming shoes recommended. But still refreshing.
Positive experience: Do not get fooled by tik tok videos. The stairs that lead to it indeed offer you a beautiful view but to get to it you need to work out. It is not easy to reach by car, not an easy walk down and especially not up if you are not in good physical condition. But the water is splendid and I super recommend doing snorkeling here. The fish are beautiful. This is not a beach though. It is concrete, very hippie style. There are some construction going on which might affect your experience. The view from above is breathtaking though.
Positive experience: Great place to go diving/snorkeling! Water is very clear and calm (almost no waves). Took a bit of effort getting there. Parking is quite inpossible near these bays on the western side of the island. There is a path which leads to the bay but halfway through it stops. Would recommend wearing watershoes since the rocks can be quite slippy and there could be crabs.

Fantastic experience: Love this rocky beach. Great for scuba diving, sea climbing and to see the sunset if you re looking for a typical sandy beach with bars, leave the north east coast and go to Ballermann or Magaluf ;)

Banyalbufar Cove: Reviews
Fantastic experience: A beautiful cove, the water is crystal clear and fresh, I recommend it.
Fantastic experience: It's an image that will never leave your mind, a magical and divine place.
Negative experience: Boring, also steep ascent and descent!
Fantastic experience: Dangerous to swim: rip currents, but no buoys in the water as indicated on the information sheet. So you don’t know where the currents are exactly and it’s not possible to grab a buoy for safety.
Negative experience: For taking a bath, nothing more.
Fantastic experience: Difficult, very steep path down (from the place). However, the path was worth it and we also swam here. Definitely take swimming shoes, as the entrance can be slippery and there are also many stones there. The water and the view are wonderful. There is also a small waterfall.

Negative experience: Neglected, not worth going up and down 400 stairs
Positive experience: A very nice and beautiful village. The cove is very quiet and has few people. Very good.
Positive experience: A nice walk up and down from the village but the beach was not so impressive compared to what Mallorca offers, but but but the view walking up and down is priceless!!
Negative experience: In my opinion, in Mallorca, where there are plenty of beautiful places, this 'cala' is an extremely weak spot; it is simply not worth coming here: parking is a nightmare, going down (and especially the climb back up is difficult), the beach is dirty (meaning very seaweedy); I felt like I was under a stone quarry; getting in and out of the water is very cumbersome... brrr... never again!
Fantastic experience: Divine
Positive experience: Very rocky
Positive experience: Difficult access but unique spot. You can leave the car in the public parking about 500 meters from the place.
Fantastic experience: It's a great cove! From the viewpoint, it's prettier than being down below, but it's phenomenal. It's worth going.
Positive experience: Cove er me in daddy ham - very mixed small stones in the toes? But water in the sea? Was I here or was this a dream?
Negative experience: You have to walk a long way to get there and the beach itself is not great to lose half of the day getting there with the usual traffic caused by cyclists... To make it worse, it's full of jellyfish.
Fantastic experience: Spectacular. But you have to park the car up in the village. You can drive down to drop off your things, but then you have to park it up again or it will be towed away.
Negative experience: A waste of time for us, it was hard to find this place, the navigation was crazy. The view was not interesting and there are so many beautiful beaches and towns around. If someone is on the island for a bit longer, it might be worth going, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a shorter trip.
Negative experience: horrible, don't go, it's not worth it, you have to walk a lot, no parking, full of seaweed and jellyfish, gets shady really quickly.
Fantastic experience: A very interesting place, definitely worth a visit, 100% recommended.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful place
Negative experience: It is not suitable as an anchorage, even though the harbor book claims so. An ugly and dirty place.
Positive experience: Nice little waterfall, beautiful view, but otherwise nothing special and no sand or anything to lie down comfortably.
Negative experience: Steep path down then a letdown with the waterfall. I do not recommend it. The water only drips a little from the rock....
Fantastic experience: This location on gmaps is wrong, the beach is on the other side (east) of the Mirador.
Negative experience: The water is very beautiful but difficult to access, far from the parking and a big descent (therefore a big climb). No place to lay down your towel because it's really unpleasant wet pebbles.
Negative experience: Cons: The access to the 'beach' is difficult. The entry into the water is slippery and difficult. Today we were robbed there. Pros: Clean water. I definitely will not return. And I do not recommend it. There are many nicer and more interesting places.
Negative experience: No interest, I don’t understand the rating! This is a location for small fishing boats. Sure, the water is clear but like everywhere. It's dirty, dangerous, and it doesn't smell good because of a lot of dry seaweed. In short, just above the view is superb but that's where it ends!
Fantastic experience: Super beautiful
Fantastic experience: Beautiful!
Fantastic experience: Beautiful, it's worth coming, bring a mask and
Fantastic experience: It is impressive but you have to be prepared to go down steep slopes... it's worth it
Fantastic experience: The cove is spectacular! The views from the upper walkway are impressive, and as you enter the cove, there are some fresh water jets where you can bathe. In the past, the waterfalls were more powerful; nowadays, with all the water issues, they have cut off and sent water to the town, as they were telling us. Lots of variety and being all stone, good visibility. Recommended: water shoes!
Negative experience: Went in the morning (10am) area was completely shaded and waves seemed a bit dangerous on the rocks .. was a windy day.
Positive experience: This is not a sand beach. It’s a poured concrete beach. Walk in is cool and it’s rocky. Cool for snorkel if but not really suitable for children. Swimming shoes recommended. But still refreshing.
Fantastic experience: One of the best things I’ve seen in my life
Positive experience: Very nice views from here but it is not easy to reach by car as all the parking places around were full. The place itself gives you a nice feeling but if you want to stay and do some sunbathing i would not recommend it because you have to sit on some concrete platform and there are some construction going on that really destroy the view.
Negative experience: It is very difficult to get to the beach. Impossible by car. You have to walk hundreds of meters. Lots of rocks
Negative experience: When we arrived we saw that the entire beach was covered in a multiple meter block of seagrass. I haven't seen this in any of the pictures so it's probably only sometimes but you should be careful.
Fantastic experience: It’s a beautiful wild beach but it’s really not for small children. You need to walk down steep stairs.
Fantastic experience: You need to visit this place. It's special with this beautiful view from the top. You shoud get there by scooter. It could be quite difficult to find a parking lot for your car. Get there early if you can. Otherwiese you won't find a parking lot
Positive experience: It is a really beautiful beach ! I really loved the différents tons of blue that were there even if there was too Manu people !
Positive experience: Very worth seeing place with lots of mountains for hiking and climbing. Also highly recommended for cyclists.
Positive experience: Unfortunately closed since today 26 March 2021. A helicopter and crew is doing restorational work.
Fantastic experience: Amazing Cala! Beautiful village as well! Better to park in the village and go walking until the beach!
Fantastic experience: Paradise on earth. Hopefully it will stay this way and locals will not allow the corporates to "develop it".
Fantastic experience: Beautiful and "different" cove, with those enormous concrete columns and the small waterfall. In May at least it was closed because of a tornado that had uprooted many trees that needed to be cleared. From the village it is less than 10 minutes walk, quite steep though. Water was extremely clean and pretty.
Fantastic experience: A real little treasure, difficult to find but a fabulous location. Stoney bay but water is so warm. Popular with locals and limited space for stretching out. More accessible by scooter as you can go right down leaving a 5 minute walk to the bay, otherwise its a good walk down and wouldn't want to do the walk back up as it's fairly steep and 2km at least
Fantastic experience: If you love the ocean and an ocean view, you will love this.
Positive experience: Nice, full of locals. Occasional jellyfishes.
Positive experience: Not really nice beach. Great view from cliffs, nice walk-through bush.
Fantastic experience: Amazing little village with amazing view points... Banyalbufsr is cute tiny village and the play is rocks and stones but the water and the location bis so beautiful
Positive experience: Beautiful views and natural springs as well as a small waterfall. Unfortunately ruined by people playing awful music and taking IG selfies in various ridiculous positions. Water has a lot of sea life but also a lot of plastic and trash on the bottom of the seabed.
Fantastic experience: Just look at the picture... Crystal clear water, normally calmed and not crowded. Plus people cannot park close, it's actually quite a steep way down and up, which means less people, win-win!
Positive experience: Crystal clear water, beautiful scenery to admire while swimming, there is a waterfall as well. The only drawback is that the beach itself is very small and concrete part is not very cosy.
Fantastic experience: The most beautiful and clear beach in Mallorca even with a waterfall
Fantastic experience: It's definitely a unique place, with the cliff and the small waterfall. Don't expect a sandy beach though, and the waves can be strong on a windy day. There's a very steep climb up and down which takes 15 minutes each way. Remember to bring enough water and sunscreen because you cannot buy it there
Fantastic experience: Clean waters, very good for snorkeling, but in iuli, when the waters are warm, are full with jellyfish, the poison one...
Positive experience: The beach was beautiful. The views were stunning. Although the road down to the lot was very scary being almost one way and being almost straight down it was frightening. At the bottom in the car lot the views are incredible. You follow a small path down and around down to the beach itself which was very crowded. There is water dripping from the cliffs that provided a natural shower. There's a fair amount of concrete here and the water was rough. There are also strange rocks here and they're jutting up. There are numerous tropical fish in the water is it excellent place to snorkel. The views of the surrounding town in the cliffs in The Terraces are awe inspiring. But overall the beach was too crowded in the areas to get into the water was very rough
Fantastic experience: On a sunny day, the water is crystal clear and the perfect temp to cool off. Free Parking available at the bottom of a steep hill. Best to get there early, before 11 or so. Definitely need water shoes, it's rocky with no soft sand anywhere. You may spy some goats along the surrounding walls. The only access is via steps, about 4 min walk from the parking area. Underwater I spotted some tiny to small fish, a few jellies and small crabs, very safe area for swimming. Doesn't get much better than this!
Positive experience: Nice little path down to a rocky beach with a small waterfall on the rock walls. Not much to do once you get there, but a good backdrop for portraits.
Positive experience: Here is our experience of this place. We took our car down and followed Google maps to get us down to the beach which proved to be the longest one and involved a lot more stairs. You ended up by the boats and it was hard to see through how you can end up at the cala, but we got through. The cala itself is rocky, it has a little manmade waterfall and as usual crystal clear Mallorcan sea. It is not for families with a buggie as you will need to carry it quite far down on the stairs. On our way up we came back where we should have come down : from the view point which is at the end of ’Camí es Molí’. So if you follow Google maps ignore what it says and follow this route to get down to the beach. You can park your car at the view point (there aren't many parking spaces there ), however also aren't many people visiting this beach. On the way up get ready for a very steep walk or drive.
Fantastic experience: Very nice not sandy beach
Fantastic experience: This beach is a great hidden little gem! Beautiful place with sea and rocks and a little waterfall! Very hard to reach but definitely worth it!
Fantastic experience: Best “beach” in Majorca. Go there and plan to stay the full day and you won’t regret! Bring water and some snacks as there is nothing really that close to the bay! Enjoy
Fantastic experience: Wonderful beach and amazing view! Very calm villlage. Though be prepared for a really curvy and narrow road. But it’s worth it, and the view from the road is amazing.
Fantastic experience: One of top 5 beaches(cliffs) in Mallorca
Fantastic experience: As soon as I saw this enchanting cala (Spanish for "little bay"), I thought "this has to be the God of all the calas in Mallorca!". To get there you have to go through a very steep and narrow road, so be careful while driving, also because the street is not one way. Park your vehicle at the end of the road (or shortly before the end), walk for 100 meters ca. and BOOM, there it is, Cala Banyalbufar, with its ancient Greek temple's style, thanks to the huge pillars and the waterfall that comes from the above's creek. As always the water's quality is impeccable, where the sea floor is perfectly visible. For those who don't like to have salt in their skin, after swimming in the sea water, no worries, the waterfall provides a natural shower and it is very clean. It's a rocky and cement beach without sandy, soft soil, so make sure to bring some soft shoes or, at least, something that covers your feet all the way. Even though I survived also on my flip-flops. You will absolutely love Cala Banyalbufar!
Positive experience: The beach is cool. Its rocky. The water clear. The waterfall is awesum, you can wash yourself from the salt after u finish swimming. Parking is hard, you may walk 10minutes. CAREFULL of medusas! bring googles.
Positive experience: I visited this Cala in April. The place is wonderful since it is not packed by the "all-inclusive" tourist and the setting remains quite pure :)
Positive experience: Amazing place crystal clear water but beware of jellyfish. In case of jellyfish burn, dont wash it with clean water, use salty water. Remove the remains if any with a tissue without touching it. Use vinegar or cream from phamacy. People around likely to have such cream:)
Positive experience: Beautiful view, treacherous access road.
Fantastic experience: a magical place, almost nobody is there
Positive experience: Pretty private beach but very rocky and no sand. Space is also limited to really lay out. Better for smaller groups and couples. Also, a very steep walk down to the water. Visuals are worth the trek.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful view, beautiful water in bay with lots of fish to see-> great spot for snorkel. You need coral shoes to get into water as there are lots of stones which are also slippery and it's very difficult to enter otherwise.
Fantastic experience: Love this rocky beach. Great for scuba diving, sea climbing and to see the sunset if you re looking for a typical sandy beach with bars, leave the north east coast and go to Ballermann or Magaluf ;)
Fantastic experience: Great place to spend some HOURS! So beautiful plus too many sea life there to snorkeling.
Fantastic experience: Calm beach with a waterfall and rocks, it's the greatest by evening as then the sunlight gets to the Cala
