Fantastic experience: A great place to go alone, with your partner, or with family. A very spacious beach, with light sand and super clear water as you can see in the photos. They have showers, there's a restaurant nearby that has everything and is always full. I recommend calling and asking if they take reservations. There are bars just a few meters away, as well as ice cream stands. I saw surfers in the distance and the beach is separated to avoid conflicts. You can get there by bus or car. If you want to park, you need to go early. Always check the flag color to avoid the risk of arriving and not being able to go into the water.

Negative experience: A disgusting beach in summer, full of dogs and with no manners. Nobody says anything.
Positive experience: Beautiful beach if you don't look at Petronor. It could be improved if dogs were allowed during times without lifeguards, as is allowed on other beaches in Euskadi.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful beach. Free parking. No dogs allowed during 'Sommer' season though. Also lots of bars to eat and drink something while having a great view.
Fantastic experience: With the new area they have created, it is now more beautiful and more natural. I went on Sunday and I really like the change. It has a nice promenade and before summer, dogs are allowed on the beach. I always go with mine whenever I can, and he loves it. On the left side, by the river area, they can be all year round.
Fantastic experience: I love going for walks with my dogs, in winter it is very quiet.

Positive experience: With good waves, they limit the area when there are currents to swim safely until a lifeguard with dreadlocks and a bit special arrives and directly kicks you out. He should dedicate himself to something else and not be in front of the public.

Fantastic experience: Magnificent beach, with good waves for surfing
Fantastic experience: It is a beautiful beach with a good view of the ocean. I enjoyed it there and that's the most important thing. It's definitely great that you can try surfing there, I personally recommend it. It is true that there were many people, but that belongs to good destinations.

Fantastic experience: An amazing beach, plus there is enough grass for you to set up a picnic.
Fantastic experience: It has parking and bathrooms
Positive experience: With good waves, they limit the area when there are currents to swim safely until a lifeguard with dreadlocks and a bit special arrives and directly kicks you out. He should dedicate himself to something else and not be in front of the public.
Positive experience: I liked the beach, the sand is soft, it is large and spacious. But above all, I want to highlight the lifeguard service. They are always attentive to swimmers to ensure they stay in the safe area during tide changes. They are great.
Fantastic experience: A very beautiful and quiet beach, ideal for enjoying with friends and family. It is a very flat beach, and the tides leave small lagoons of water that are perfect for the little ones.
Positive experience: Last beach of the Basque community, it has nothing to do with the area of Cantabria but we have it close to Bilbao.
Negative experience: A disgusting beach in summer, full of dogs and with no manners. Nobody says anything.
Positive experience: It is nice and has showers. There are cafeterias and restaurants nearby.
Fantastic experience: Clean, blue, and wide sandy area.
Positive experience: Beautiful beach if you don't look at Petronor. It could be improved if dogs were allowed during times without lifeguards, as is allowed on other beaches in Euskadi.
Fantastic experience: Beach of almost a kilometer, excellent for walking
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach, sea and mountains
Fantastic experience: The westernmost beach of Bizkaia, good beach and good bars and restaurants on both sides of the beach.
Fantastic experience: My favorite beach in the Basque Country, great walk
Fantastic experience: Beautiful
Positive experience: The bike path towards Barakaldo is very pleasant and runs through some beautiful landscapes.
Fantastic experience: We had a great time at the beach, it was fantastic. I recommend it.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful beach. Free parking. No dogs allowed during 'Sommer' season though. Also lots of bars to eat and drink something while having a great view.
Fantastic experience: Spectacular
Fantastic experience: Super spectacular, the lifeguards do a great job.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach, with an incredible bathroom. However, you have to be careful with the tide because if you get too close to the water in the morning, you might get a surprise. Being large and spacious, it is not overwhelming. Highly recommend!!
Fantastic experience: Very very beautiful
Fantastic experience: Beach near Bilbao with a large parking area and a good restaurant area.
Positive experience: If it weren't for what stains...
Fantastic experience: Very good treatment and professionalism from the waiters.

It has a nice promenade and before summer, dogs are allowed on the beach. I always go with mine whenever I can, and he loves it. On the left side, by the river area, they can be all year round.
Fantastic experience: An ideal place in winter to take a walk and have a drink, both in the beach area or in Pobeña. In summer, it's great for taking a dip and spending some time, the downside is that the parking fills up. There are places to eat.
Fantastic experience: Unfortunately, we visited in winter, but it was still worth it.
Fantastic experience: It's a nice place any time of the year, but especially in summer to go with kids.
Fantastic experience: Magnificent beach, with good waves for surfing
Fantastic experience: A spectacular beach with good dining services
Fantastic experience: The beach is very big, well-maintained, and has a large parking area. It has two lines of Bizkaibus.
Positive experience: EVERY TIME, A LITTLE MORE NATURAL. IT IS A VERY COMPLICATED BEACH TO ENJOY ITS WATER, DUE TO THE CURRENTS IN SUMMER. BUT PLEASANT.
Negative experience: Too many people complaining about everything, but it is always full of people who complain about everything, yet they keep coming back again and again to complain about everything. They are irreverent complainers who contribute nothing and only take up a spot that they claim to detest... incomprehensible.
Fantastic experience: The closest beach to Bilbao. There are always people, a great place to walk.
Fantastic experience: It is a beautiful beach with a good view of the ocean. I enjoyed it there and that's the most important thing. It's definitely great that you can try surfing there, I personally recommend it. It is true that there were many people, but that belongs to good destinations.
Fantastic experience: Excellent place to be in contact with nature
Fantastic experience: One of the best beaches for skimboarding in Euskadi
Fantastic experience: I love going for walks with my dogs, in winter it is very quiet.
Positive experience: Amazing surfer beach
Positive experience: Very good beach and great waves
Fantastic experience: A special and spectacular beach with wonderful views of the Cantabrian Sea, that sea which fiercely crashes against the rocks and the coast, those waves attract multiple surfers to enjoy the magic of the sea, challenging the sea and the nearby mountains and towns, Pobeña, connected by a walkway. A magical place, a destination for generations from the Mining Zone and Encartaciones and other places, my memories are of families enjoying the tranquility that this special beach offers. Today the views remain the same, impressive, we have improved access, buses, nearby bars and restaurants, roads, etc., the campsite was lost, a magical place as well, the refinery wasn’t lost (what a shame). Highly recommended. Best regards to all.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful and spacious beach to enjoy the sea and the sun. Strong waves and currents, but it is in its favor that near the lifeguard station there are indicative panels with the current zones to avoid danger as much as possible. There are protected nature areas where it is prohibited to step/access, and there is a cordoned-off indication along with signs warning about it at certain points. There are free parking areas (better to arrive early or it will be impossible to find a spot). There are also bars and other services, including a great network of inter-urban buses from Bizkaibus (cheaper and more practical than a vehicle) that drop you off right by the beach at practically two distinct points along the beach, with an incredibly wide range of schedules during the swimming season. Showers. Public restrooms and water points to wash off sand from your feet and footwear when you leave. Access for disabled people via wooden boardwalks/pathways, which although they do not reach the shore of the beach, allow you to enjoy an extensive walk near the protected nature area with a view of the sea.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach and surroundings. Near it, there is a greenway that traverses part of the coast, which is accessed by a climb of 110 steps. It's worth it.
Positive experience: It was very crowded, I experienced it better in other situations.
Fantastic experience: Very nice park, free entry
Positive experience: Beautiful beach but beware of jellyfish
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach, very wide.
Positive experience: Very nice and good bars nearby, it's right in the town.
Positive experience: I love this beach. Mountains and beach, 2 for 1. The downside is that the sand stains quite a bit yellow, but well, it can be solved by washing.
Positive experience: Great beach but lacking public bathrooms near the beach or on the sand itself like there are in other beaches near the lifeguard station.
Fantastic experience: We went to spend the afternoon at the beach, but we were unfortunately met with a yellow flag and jellyfish. It's a shame, but the beach is beautiful, and there is a restaurant right on the side with a large terrace run by a Cuban that I truly recommend. The place has a large terrace and the food is a 10.
Positive experience: This is the second time we have been to this beautiful sandy beach, located just 15-20 minutes from Bilbao by car. Advantage 1: spacious and free parking; advantage 2: there are 2 environments, the open beach and the river area, which is a wonder for children. The only downside I see is that the surf classes occupied both the designated area for it and areas that were not, which seems excessive to me.
Fantastic experience: It's the best, it's my favorite. I love the sea, it's a quiet beach and the sea is delightful.
Fantastic experience: Charming place, always good atmosphere. Perfect combination of sea and mountain. Crossing to Pobeña and through its stairs, there is a fantastic route for walking that leads to Ontón or even Castro Urdiales!
Fantastic experience: Really beautiful beach, wide, clean, and lifeguards on the coast. The waves were too strong for swimming at the beginning of August. Surfers were out though. Yes, that's a Portuguese man o'war found washed out on the beach. There is plenty of free parking. Nice pathways as well, leading to the beach.
Fantastic experience: Amazing beach next to Bilbabo with a very original shape. Actually, it is the estuary where Barbadun river meets the Atlantic ocean. Really wide space, good quality sand and spectacular light effects that appear when the sun reflects on the stagnant water. Opposite to usual beaches, you can't see the open sea from many zones of this beach, but the alternation between sand banks and big puddles. Because of its originallity, this beach really deserves a visit.
Fantastic experience: Every time I go there it's beautiful relaxing. stunning sandy beach and a long track up in hills straight to the edge . On right side there is always high tide for surfers. Outside there is café and food .there is a Red cross help point they have sand trucks and rescue guards on stand. As it is a "Free beach" so religious families also has place in the park before sand but they also can find place on sand. I will recommend to take a strong Umbrella s it gets windy on times ,and a sun screen because even in this part of Spain the sun gets really hot . It's just 10 minutes drive from Bilbao city.
Fantastic experience: Great beach for surfers, sand stains due to heavy mineral content. Great team of life guards, designated zones for bathing due to strong currents beautiful place to visit
Fantastic experience: Very nice place to visit and even let dogs on the beach
Positive experience: Spotlessly clean beach. Well used by locals: lots of kids at surfing schools. Free parking close by. Higglers kept off beach itself but given a place to display wares. Low key police patrols. Really chill place.
