Fantastic experience: Amazing beach. I hiked from here to Deba. Flysch are sedimentary rock formations of alternating layers of limestone and shale. The layers were formed horizontally but tectonic forces have tilted them over millions of years. The flysch are invaluable to geologists as they provide detailed records of Earth's history. The formations are found mostly in Europe but the ones in the Basque Country are distinguished by their exceptional preservation and accessibility. The name 'flysch' originates from the German word 'fließen,' meaning 'to flow', which was the process by which these layers were deposited through ancient underwater landslides and sediment flows.

Fantastic experience: Watch out for the restricted traffic zone. You can park comfortably 200 meters from the beach. After 8 PM, parking is free.

Fantastic experience: A spectacular beach, with beautiful access from the village, the place is impressive, not only for enjoying the sea, but also for observing the rock formations or Flysch, formed over thousands of years by sea erosion. It's advisable to walk from the village because parking is difficult in the area. Famous for filming some scenes of Game of Thrones and for important geological studies.

Fantastic experience: Itzurun Beach in Zumaia is a place of extraordinary natural beauty that takes your breath away. This beach, nestled between spectacular cliffs, is famous for its flysch, unique rock formations that tell millions of years of geological history. Walking along the shore and admiring these layers is truly a fascinating experience. The golden sand and crystal-clear water make Itzurun Beach ideal for a day of relaxation and swimming. The waves are perfect for surfing, attracting enthusiasts from everywhere. The beach is well-equipped, with showers, restrooms, and a bar that serves snacks and drinks, making the visit even more enjoyable. Another highlight is the breathtaking view from the beach, especially at sunset when the colors of the sky reflect on the sea and cliffs, creating a magical atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: Nice beach with somewhat dark sand, with a wall full of Flysch.

Fantastic experience: This is one of my favorite beaches in Gipuzkoa. Parking is pretty easy, park around Amaia Plaza, pay at one of the machines, then walk a few blocks straight to the beach. There are bathrooms and a small restaurant. The beach is smaller than others but the sand is soft and there are plenty of people to watch as well as beautiful views to enjoy.

Lola Ruiz 6 years ago

It's a lovely and beautiful place where you can do a lot of things like walking around the town, swimming at the beach or the promenade, eating, visiting the flich... And I also took away a good memory of being in the cafeteria watching the sunset because it is beautiful.

Positive experience: It's a beautiful beach, I loved it and the rocks are impressive. The only problem is that parking is terrible. Almost the whole town is for residents. You have to go to blue zones that are packed because everyone from outside is trying to park... we went on a Saturday and it was impossible to park, we didn't go to the beach, we came back on Sunday which was cloudy and drizzling and we were able to park. In the end, I want to see the beach. I give it 4 stars because it's worth seeing, but just for the parking situation in the town, I would give it 0.

Fantastic experience: Itzurun Beach aka Dragonstone from GOT! This was an amazing location to bring the wonders of Westeros to our world. The rocks and ledges are truly remarkable, the parking here however is very difficult to get. Unless u stay for a few minutes then you wont have a problem. However the beach itself is truly beautiful. Didnt expect to walk down from a castle like structure so that was awesome as well. Greatly recommend to visit this beautiful gem!

Fantastic experience: We came here because of Game of Thrones episode 1 season 7th, very beautiful beach and also nice caves around in which you can walk in and explore inside, if you want free parking near to beach you need to pass through mark no entry only for hotel visitors, but than it's very easy to find free place and to beach you will walk maximum 5 minutes.

Fantastic experience: Itzurun Beach is one of the most spectacular areas. Its huge and the vertical cliffs and the limestone walls that reach the 150 metres of slope will attract visitors, where they will be able to admire a geological phenomena called flysch caused by the erosion of the sea throughout the years. Public services avaliable, as well as life guard.

Eugene Ong 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: I was expecting a throwaway Game of Thrones tourist site, but the views and the beauty of the beach is spectacular. Parking is a little complicated unless you are just there for a couple of photos.
