Information

Platja de les Fonts, located in Alcossebre, is a beautiful and tranquil beach that is particularly well-suited for families and children. Here are some highlights:

  • Family-Friendly: The shallow waters and gentle waves make it perfect for kids. Many users noted that it feels safe and enjoyable for young children.
  • Clean and Well-Maintained: Visitors have praised the cleanliness of the beach, with adequate facilities such as showers, public toilets, and lifeguards present.
  • A Unique Experience: The beach is known for its sweet water springs, which some users found to be a magical feature, adding to the charm of the location.
  • Access and Amenities: There are nearby restaurants, bars, and a chiringuito (beach bar), as well as options for renting paddle boards and other water sports equipment.
  • Scenic Views: Many reviews highlight the beautiful backdrop of the Sierra de Irta, making it a picturesque spot for a day out.

However, not everything is perfect:

  • Crowded in Summer: During peak season, the beach tends to get quite busy, especially with families, which may not be ideal for those looking for solitude.
  • Water Quality Concerns: Some users have expressed concerns about water cleanliness at times, mentioning issues with algae and pollution.
  • Loss of Springs: A few visitors were disappointed by changes to the beach, noting that the sweet water springs have diminished over time.

Overall, Platja de les Fonts offers a unique beach experience that balances beauty and family-friendly amenities, making it a great destination for those visiting Alcossebre.

Fantastic experience: I can't give more stars because it's not possible. Beautiful beach, a magical cove, it doesn't cover and is perfect for children, there are hardly any waves, you can park for free easily, easy access, there are showers, it's quiet, clean... There are boats and slides for rent and bars around. There's a promenade where they set up a mini fair and sell things. We loved it.

Positive experience: One of the beaches in Alcocebre, which they say is named after the freshwater springs that emerge from the sea, I didn’t see any, is equipped with many services, lifeguards, public restrooms, showers and foot washes, children’s and sports areas, rental of pedal boats, umbrellas and hammocks, wooden walkways, trash bins, and there are several bars in the area, and a beach bar on the beach, which is better in the evening than during the day, it gets very crowded, I think it’s one of the most crowded, but there is always space, as it is quite large, parking in the area, if you look around you can usually find it, though if you go a bit late it’s complicated.

Negative experience: We're absolutely disappointed! Last year we fell in love with this beach because it had fresh water springs, paddles of fresh water perfect for little children, this is the reason we came back this year, 2023! And to our horror it was gone! All the pots with springing fresh water, all the beauty and uniqueness of this beach is gone! and why? Because someone complained it's dangerous for kids! We have a 5 and a 2 year old, we stuck our legs in each pot and it wasn't deep at all. All we have left now is memories. La playa de las Fuentes is nothing special now, another regular boring beach. The authorities made a huge mistake!

Fantastic experience: Perfect. Not too big, but more than enough. Close to the port. With a beach bar. Be careful where you enter the water.... the springs come up in part of the shore and if you step on them your foot sinks. A very curious phenomenon. I loved it.

Fantastic experience: The beach is sandy, although in the area closest to the port it usually has quite a few seaweeds. It's a quiet area with not many crowds where there is space to grab your piece of sand and have some privacy. The waves are moderate and there is a lifeguard. Highly recommended for children as it doesn't get deep for a while and it is good.

Fantastic experience: Some of my first vacations, it's been so long... I can't even remember. I have the memory of the sand boiling with the water seeping through. Now there is a channel that winds and crosses the beach in the middle. The environment is very well cared for and overall the part facing the sea in Alcossebre is frankly very beautiful. Atmosphere in the restaurants.

Fantastic experience: We stayed a few years ago at Hotel Las Fuentes, looking at the photos I realized that I hadn't written a review of this wonderful and original beach. A small but great beach, with its 400 meters long and an average width of 40 meters, during the summer this is a very crowded beach. It's surprising that you can walk on the sand even stepping into the salty water, there are springs from which fresh water emerges from the sand coming from aquifers, the fresh water mixes with the sea water and that makes this beach unique. Besides this fact, it has all the services and entertainment for us to enjoy this place.

Positive experience: The water doesn't seem very clean. It has a lot of suspended solids. I know that at some point it has had e. coli (a bacteria associated with fecal contamination). And it has been closed for bathing. In September it is a quiet beach. It gives me the impression that in summer it must be completely crowded, given the high density of apartments and hotels surrounding it. It has a beach bar, sunbed rentals, and pedal boats. There is a lifeguard.

PABLO AROCENA 3 years ago

Positive experience: Bonita playa..

Fantastic experience: We have been for the first time and we loved it. It has fine sand and clear waters. It's a curious beach and you shouldn't lay your towel on the sand since it is always wet sand and will get wet. A mat or similar is recommended. If you are someone who is bothered by beach sand, you will have no problem here since the sand is wet and doesn't stick to the skin. There are foot showers, showers, a beach bar, and even an inflatable castle in the afternoon for the kids. On days with a green flag, it's a pool of water and not too deep, which is great for small children. We had several days with a yellow flag and the waves were considerable. We will repeat!

Positive experience: The beach is one of the oldest and most central in Alcossebre so do not expect it to be an idyllic hidden gem. However, it leans into its strengths and is extremely family friendly with adequate services in the area and on the beach. My favorite feature of the area are two basketball courts with a stunning backdrop!

louis daane 3 years ago

Positive experience: Sea water is cold and brackish, due to the constant flow of fresh water from the fountains. There are many pot holes that can swallow a grown man to the knees. Special attention should be taken with children.

Fantastic experience: Lovely sandy beach within a rocky little bay, bounded by the marina on one side and a rock/stone bar on the other so very sheltered. At the rear and by the esplanade there is a freshwater stream (of historical interest) running out into the little beach. A great place to sunbath and safe for children to play and frolic in the water. We visited initially because of the truck, car and bike festival taking place in the car park behind the beach, see pictures. Beach is highly recommended
