Positive experience: Cárabos Beach is the most central beach on the Melilla boardwalk. It has a large number of services, lifeguard stations, public restrooms, showers, trash cans, umbrellas, sunbeds, and ample parking. The beach has golden, fine sand, which is very pleasant to the touch, and the waters are usually calm, making it ideal for young children. This beach is a good option if you are looking for an urban beach with all the services.
Fantastic experience: Accesible
ENGLISH With La Hípica as an exception, Melilla beaches are not great, in the spite of the fact that they are near of almost everything and parking is easy. The umbrellas are for free. The sand is heavy, after a walk there your feet become dirty as a bricklayer worker mixing concrete. All is plenty of fag-ends, and many times of fishing lines and hooks because of the fishers that spend the nights there. The water is warm, but dirty. In the winter is a good place to go jogging, as it is in the middle of the seafront. With rough weather, the sand spots the sidewalk. In the summer a lot of kiosks (kiosk is a Basque word, it’s like a news-stand which sells ice creams and sweats instead of newspapers), all of the sells ice creams of Nestle or Frigo, no more brands. It’s the most commercial zone of the seafront, with several restaurants, cafés, banks or a “chino”, that is, a shop owned by a Chinese where you can buy all kind of staff, low quality but low price.
