Morro de Gos Beach
Information
Playa Morro de Gos, located in Oropesa del Mar, offers a beautiful backdrop with golden sand, a wide promenade, and numerous nearby restaurants. Users appreciated the clean and clear water, making it a family-friendly spot. However, many remarks highlighted significant concerns regarding the beach's current state.
- Pros: Long and clean beach, good for families, nice promenade, nearby restaurants.
- Cons: Limited sand area with many stones, overcrowding during peak hours, insufficient maintenance, and lack of services like showers or proper beach management.
Overall, while it has the potential for a pleasant beach experience, urgent action and management improvements are needed to restore Playa Morro de Gos to its former glory.

Negative experience: Accessibility to the beach is very poor, there is practically only one entrance for people with reduced mobility or in a wheelchair out of 12 or more that the beach has; all the others are stairs.
Positive experience: Neglected beach by the municipality, during July and part of August, the toilets and intermittent showers were not working. Luckily, this year we got rid of scooters, jet skis, and paid loungers, which made space for more users.
Positive experience: The beach is bordered to the north by Playa de les Amplaries and to the south by Punta de las Lanzas, with a length of 2100 m and a width of 40 m, consisting of fine golden sand. It is located in an urban environment and has a promenade and designated parking, with access for disabled persons. It is a marked beach for the launching of boats. This beach has held the Blue Flag designation since 1997. It is a very crowded beach during high season.
Fantastic experience: A complete experience for everyone. Fruit stands, shops, souvenirs, beach accessories, seawall with two levels for strolling along the beach. Upper level perfect to view the beach, lower level providing easy access to all the shops and restaurants. Warning, during the day the lower level walkway doubles as a street for the locals who live adjacent to the walkway. Nightlife turns into full throttle around 8pm. Sidewalks become busy with activity as shoppers eagerly search for the exquisite replicas ('dupes', 'fakes', 'counterfeits') from designer shoes to luxury handbags ('Gucci', 'Prada', 'Tous', etc). Prices usually stay around 25 euros for most of the favorite items. Unlike the street sellers in Madrid, the street seller has no fear from the local authorities as it seems to be a symbiotic relationship, where tourists swarm the walkway purchase the dupes and then shop at the legitimate restaurants from pizza to fine dining. Interesting experience! Oh, the walkways are certainly tempting for a skater, although I only saw one actual skateboarder during my 4 visits to the walkway in August.

Positive experience: I remember coming many years ago and it being a spacious beach. This time we found a rather narrow beach with some areas having stones.
Positive experience: It is nice, although there is less and less beach each time. People leave their umbrellas planted before the allowed time and nothing happens, and sometimes you find cigarette butts in the sand (people are very dirty, although it wouldn't be too expensive to clean it well).
Negative experience: There is less sand each time, and many stones, I do not recommend it.
Negative experience: Oropesa del Mar is a pretty good place to summer with family, but to this day it has lost a lot. This beach is completely devastated, so only a couple of umbrellas fit and not much more. There is no space on the beach, it is full of stones, and the showers work when they want. In these conditions, I don't know if it's worth it considering the prices.
Negative experience: Not much beach sand and a lot of people

Fantastic experience: Fantastic atmosphere. Many bars and restaurants. The beach is disappearing because of the low-level politicians. Other than that, it's great.
Positive experience: Very beautiful and well-kept beach. Many restaurants nearby to eat and have something refreshing.

Negative experience: La playa no existe está dejada por la ley de costa aquí nadie quiere saber nada un desastre total los restaurantes muy buena calidad pero los pisos han bajado muchísimo de precio al no tener playa
Fantastic experience: A great place as you have many restaurants and bars mixed with a few beach shops, plus views of the sea.

Positive experience: Long and clean beach, but too narrow; after the last storm, the sandy area is very reduced. It's a shame that the Oropesa town hall hasn't addressed this. There is a lifeguard until 8:00 PM, shower areas, and foot showers.
Positive experience: Good beach with lifeguard services, clean and well-kept. I liked it.
Fantastic experience: A charming place. It is not very crowded in September and it feels nice. Well monitored by lifeguards and ambulance service
Positive experience: Buena playa. Extensa. Limpia.

Negative experience: We have run out of beach, it's a real disaster. There are no services and many days the foot showers don't have water.
Negative experience: The showers are turned on and off by the town hall according to the time, so you don't always have water. You go down at 9:30-10:00 with kids and have to line up in the third row because many retirees go down at 6-7:00 in the morning to set up their umbrellas and then don’t show up until 12-13:00. Poor management by the town hall that allows this and does not implement any regulations regarding it.

Morro de Gos Beach: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Great view...
Positive experience: Seaside promenade with many shops
Negative experience: There is no beach
Negative experience: Accessibility to the beach is very poor, there is practically only one entrance for people with reduced mobility or in a wheelchair out of 12 or more that the beach has; all the others are stairs.
Positive experience: I remember coming many years ago and it being a spacious beach. This time we found a rather narrow beach with some areas having stones.
Fantastic experience: I have been coming since I was a child.. and I will continue to come after 60 years
Fantastic experience: Good beach
Fantastic experience: A very beautiful beach where children enjoy swimming, fishing, and spending time with family.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic atmosphere. Many bars and restaurants. The beach is disappearing because of the low-level politicians. Other than that, it's great.
Fantastic experience: Fine sand, big waves, a dream beach.
Positive experience: It is nice, although there is less and less beach each time. People leave their umbrellas planted before the allowed time and nothing happens, and sometimes you find cigarette butts in the sand (people are very dirty, although it wouldn't be too expensive to clean it well).
Positive experience: Neglected beach by the municipality, during July and part of August, the toilets and intermittent showers were not working. Luckily, this year we got rid of scooters, jet skis, and paid loungers, which made space for more users.
Negative experience: There is less sand each time, and many stones, I do not recommend it.
Negative experience: There is no beach. You either set up the umbrella at 8 am or you won't go to the beach that day. It's a shame it can't be resolved.
Positive experience: The beach is very scarce. Very narrow. There’s barely any space for people to sit.
Negative experience: Not much beach sand and a lot of people
Negative experience: Bad beach. No sand, no space, and too many people.
Positive experience: Long and clean beach, but too narrow; after the last storm, the sandy area is very reduced. It's a shame that the Oropesa town hall hasn't addressed this. There is a lifeguard until 8:00 PM, shower areas, and foot showers.
Fantastic experience: Great
Negative experience: A lot of stones and the sea has eaten away the sand
Negative experience: We have run out of beach, it's a real disaster. There are no services and many days the foot showers don't have water.
Negative experience: There is hardly any sand; they have a lot of accumulated sand which I think is terrible that they don't fix this issue with all the tourists that visit.
Positive experience: The beach has almost disappeared because the sea is taking it away. The water is very good, clean, clear, family-friendly....the promenade is very wide and there is a lot of atmosphere at night.
Positive experience: It has less and less sand each time.
Negative experience: There is no beach here...
Fantastic experience: great for going with family and kids.
Positive experience: Little beach and little sand, if the Oropesa town hall does not take measures we will see its total disappearance.
Positive experience: Very narrow and stony beach, there is little space to be.
Positive experience: Good beach with lifeguard services, clean and well-kept. I liked it.
Positive experience: Hello, I need someone to upload pictures of how the beach looks right now please, as I see that it is difficult to be there because of the rocks and that there is very little beach and space to settle down.
Positive experience: Great beach that has declined due to the tides washing away the sand.
Negative experience: It's disgusting to walk along the Morro de Gos promenade and have kids, and not-so-kids, zooming past on their electric scooters, many riding together or in the opposite direction, without respecting anything that is prohibited.
Positive experience: Very beautiful and well-kept beach. Many restaurants nearby to eat and have something refreshing.
Negative experience: Food by the sea. Ruined by the neglect of the City Council. A botched job for not taking action in time. Now everyone crowds to the other side. An example of poor tourism management only interested in collecting for monumental works in the village, disregarding the tourists who are the ones paying for the party. Bad, very bad City Council of Oropesa.
Negative experience: Narrow beach with few showers, 2 to be exact. Also, people arrive at 8, occupy 5 meters to place 2 chairs and leave by 12 or 1 PM. There is no control. Additionally, they are older people who live across the street, while we arrive at 9 with small children and have to stay behind. I have been reserving the chairs since I have been enduring this for a week, going down at 9 to stay.
Positive experience: Very beautiful beach in a very welcoming place.
Negative experience: Barely any space to put the towel, almost no beach, neglected by the local council and authorities.
Negative experience: There is practically no beach and you can't even stay there, not to mention that the little sand there is is full of stones.
Positive experience: Typical Levante beach that is well maintained
Positive experience: It's a shame about the degradation it has suffered in recent years. It seems that the city council wants to fix it but the coast does not allow it. Anyway, I think it's urgent to take measures.
Positive experience: Lack of sand
Fantastic experience: The best beach in the world!!
Negative experience: I think calling it a 'beach' at this moment is excessive...
Negative experience: There is no beach, the sand has disappeared.
Positive experience: A very quiet place to spend a nice afternoon with friends or family.
Fantastic experience: Clean beach with very fine sand.
Negative experience: It's a shame, there is less and less land on the beach and sometimes a lot of seaweed on the shore.
Fantastic experience: My favorite beach in Oropesa del Mar. As you can see in the videos, on the right day it is the perfect place for you to relax, do your meditation or yoga, and enjoy the peaceful environment.
Fantastic experience: Beach to enjoy with family.
Positive experience: There needs to be a bit more cleanliness, especially in the section before reaching Marina d'Or.
Fantastic experience: Delicious. The mussels were on the table before noon.
Fantastic experience: It is a very big beach with a lot of space to put your stuff and the water is not so deep from the beginning. Very nice place
Positive experience: It is a beautiful beach, with a lovely promenade.
Negative experience: The dirty beaches filled with dry seaweed that emit a smell. Stones on the beach that you have to avoid when you go swimming, otherwise you end up stepping on them. The entire area of Marina Dor is very neglected, abandoned, and there is no good restaurant.
Positive experience: It's painfully depressing the change that this beach has experienced in a few years. From being a great beach, long and wide, it has shrunk to practically a third of its width. It is urgent that the relevant authorities find a solution to this reduction of the beach.
Fantastic experience: very good beach
Negative experience: It's a shame about the state of the beach compared to what it used to be...
Negative experience: Very narrow beach and too crowded
Positive experience: Good beach although with stones in the sand
Positive experience: Beautiful beach, too bad about the many seaweeds present.
Fantastic experience: You can't fall asleep if you want to be in the front row, the beach is very small.
Negative experience: It needs fixing, there's hardly any sand, such a shame because it's very pleasant in the area.
Fantastic experience: A charming place. It is not very crowded in September and it feels nice. Well monitored by lifeguards and ambulance service
Negative experience: IT'S A SHAME THAT THIS BEACH CONTINUES TO GO UNRESOLVED. EVER SINCE THE FAMOUS STORM A FEW YEARS AGO, THE SEA HAS EATEN AWAY A LARGE PART OF THIS BEACH, AND IT'S GETTING WORSE; THERE'S LESS AND LESS SPACE. THANK GOODNESS WE HAVE LA CONCHA.
Positive experience: Very narrow beach, clean water, and no stones. Very family-friendly. The promenade is of no interest, dirty, very neglected, and full of anti Topmanta signs but packed with Topmanta (very surreal). Overall, I didn't like it, there is no quality commerce, I missed some craft market. It gives the feeling of 'abandonment.' It's a shame because it has potential.
Negative experience: After the destruction of nature at this beach, the two photos I published are the best areas of it, the rest has no sand left, this beach is now less than half of what it used to be and the sea is eating it away every day, a pity, the walk is pleasant for taking a stroll and having a drink with its wide range of food offerings. What a shame.
Interesting experience! Oh, the walkways are certainly tempting for a skater, although I only saw one actual skateboarder during my 4 visits to the walkway in August.
Fantastic experience: Very good place, there are local places to have a snack, supermarkets and shops close to the beach. During summer time they organise activities like yoga, zumba etc...
Negative experience: We have always had very windy weather on this beach. In addition, it is very narrow. In the end, we always switched to Playa de la Concha, which we thought was better in everything. Even just before the start of the season, there were no showers, deckchairs, etc., but that will probably change with the arrival of the high season.
Fantastic experience: A great place as you have many restaurants and bars mixed with a few beach shops, plus views of the sea.
