Shell Beach
Information
Las Conchas Beach is an idyllic stretch of white sand framed by turquoise waters, making it a paradise that rivals Caribbean beaches. However, this beautiful beach comes with some cautions; the strong currents and waves often make swimming dangerous, and there are no lifeguards present. Visitors are often alerted to the risks of bathing due to the constant red flag warnings.
This stunning location is recommended for leisurely walks, and while it offers a spectacular view, it is not the best choice for families with young children. Access to the beach can be accomplished via a challenging bike ride or a 4x4 taxi, with the option to walk for about an hour if you're up for it.
Highlights:
- Idyllic white sand and clear turquoise waters
- Perfect for enjoying stunning scenery and taking photos
- Less crowded compared to other beaches
Considerations:
- Strong currents make swimming risky
- No facilities like showers or trash cans
- Always check local conditions before entering the water

Fantastic experience: Superb beautiful beach, difficult access on foot though and not to be reached without water or sun protection. I would have really liked to relax on this beach if my partner hadn’t declared an upset stomach the night before.
Fantastic experience: A fine sandy beach on the small island of La Graciosa, off Lanzarote, facing the open sea. The site is idyllic, difficult to access, and therefore quite uncrowded.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach, but it is true that the waves are a bit strong. We went by jeep-taxi because I had just recovered from a leg injury, but it is easily accessible by bike...plus now many are electric.
Fantastic experience: Paradisiacal, clear water, few people, clean beach. The walk there takes about 1.5 hours, possibly rent a bike.
Fantastic experience: Amazing beach, strong waves, and incredible views. I recommend getting there by 4x4 taxis... They offer the option of bikes but the paths are very rocky. Definitely contact Marcial, he offers impeccable service (be careful because there are several who try to scam).

Fantastic experience: Beautifully located white sandy beach with turquoise water. But better not to swim, there are dangerous currents!
Fantastic experience: Amazing beach to spend the day, the only downside is that it has a very strong current. I would never recommend swimming, but staying a few meters from the sand is perfect.
Fantastic experience: A fine sandy beach on the small island of La Graciosa, off Lanzarote, facing the open sea. The site is idyllic, difficult to access, and therefore quite uncrowded.
Positive experience: White sand beach and crystal clear water. There are no showers or trash cans. The sea is usually rough in that area and there is a red flag almost always.
Fantastic experience: A paradise beach. The sand is fine and clear, with the water taking on beautiful turquoise colors. You can get there by bicycle and also by transportation that can be hired at the port itself. The beach is calm, there aren't many people. The sea is usually rough, but with caution, you can have a good dip!

Negative experience: It is extremely dangerous. When I entered the water, I felt like I was being swept away, and then when we were about to leave, we saw a horrible sign... there was a red flag and it's not for fun!!! There are no lifeguards and it's a complete disaster...
Fantastic experience: I'm just here to assure you it's the beach you came to the Canary Islands for. Indescribable beach. To reach it, it is widely explained how to do it in other reviews. Just to add a little more to my review, I will list the negative differences compared to the Caribbean or the beaches of the Philippines (because these are the beaches it competes with): - total absence of vegetation (no nice palm tree ️) - sand grain comparable to cane sugar both in color and consistency (yellow and coarse) instead of the white flour of other terrestrial paradises. - strong wind when you are lying down, it brings the sand on your bodies with force and due to the thickness of the grain, it will hurt you. - no chance to swim in peace, the waves are huge and very strong, they drag you to and from the shore, covering you with sand if you are too close to the shore. Always red flag and no lifeguard - total absence of flora and fauna in the water and in the seabed. Obviously, total absence of services (⛱️♂️) but for the organization of your trip, I repeat, read the other reviews. Obviously you come to such a beach for its wild nature and its rare beauty. Upvote me if this was useful ☺️ Io sono qui solo per garantirvi che è La Spiaggia per cui siete venuti alle Isole Canarie. Spiaggia indescrivibile.

Fantastic experience: Beautifully located white sandy beach with turquoise water. But better not to swim, there are dangerous currents!
Fantastic experience: Totally worth the cycle, what a beautiful beach! If you're not getting a 4x4 taxi, best to get an electric bike to make the journey easier. The road can be pretty bumpy at points, but worth it if you don't mind that.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommended. The most beautiful beach on La Graciosa Island. It is dangerous to swim. It is located north of the island and west of Montaña Bermeja, which can be climbed to enjoy the view of Playa de las Conchas from above. There are nudists at the northern end of the beach. You can reach it by car or bicycle. There are 4x4 trucks in the town that offer tours and transfers to the beach. Bring water and food. There are no businesses or shops.
Positive experience: Very beautiful beach but swimming is prohibited (red flag), waves are too dangerous. A sign at the entrance reminds you that there have already been tragedies. So frustrated not to be able to swim there but a delight for the eyes.
Fantastic experience: Superb beautiful beach, difficult access on foot though and not to be reached without water or sun protection. I would have really liked to relax on this beach if my partner hadn’t declared an upset stomach the night before.

Shell Beach: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Beautifully located white sandy beach with turquoise water. But better not to swim, there are dangerous currents!
Fantastic experience: I would say best beach in all Canarias :) very dangerous, probably not for kids, but gives you that power of nature
Fantastic experience: Totally worth the cycle, what a beautiful beach! If you're not getting a 4x4 taxi, best to get an electric bike to make the journey easier. The road can be pretty bumpy at points, but worth it if you don't mind that.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely a must-see in the morning.
Fantastic experience: Still impressively beautiful beach! Due to the fact that there are now quite a lot of jeeps on the island, it is no longer as lonely as before, but it is still worth a trip.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach
Fantastic experience: Wonderful beach. It's better to go there on an electric mountain bike or accompanied by car.
Fantastic experience: One of the rare places on the planet where there is no paved road. This beach is monstrously beautiful with its volcano. A natural reserve, and the ideal way to get there is by catamaran (from Lanzarote) to get as close to the volcano as possible and to swim. Fishing is prohibited, of course....
Fantastic experience: Highly recommended. The most beautiful beach on La Graciosa Island. It is dangerous to swim. Fantastic experience: The novel, Part of a story, that I am listening to on A book an hour, invited me to look for La Graciosa to learn a little more about the rich description. Thanks to its visitors, I can enjoy those images of paradise it shows. Very tempting to visit. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Charming
Fantastic experience: INCREDIBLE REAL BEST BEACH ON THE ISLAND. STAY HERE, DO NOT GO TO THE FRENCH BEACH AT ALL.
Fantastic experience: Amazing beach to spend the day, the only downside is that it has a very strong current. I would never recommend swimming, but staying a few meters from the sand is perfect.
Fantastic experience: Paradisiacal beach that has nothing to envy compared to those in the Caribbean.
Fantastic experience: A spectacular beach of 'look at me and don't touch me', it's a postcard place but it's not the spot for a quiet swim, it's not suitable for kids. To get there, the best option is a taxi; if you're not used to cycling, I don't recommend biking.
Fantastic experience: Las Conchas Beach is full of interesting features that one might overlook. Whether you walk – it takes about 45 minutes from the main town – or you cycle (20 minutes), you will reach this pale sandy beach and enjoy its constantly changing blue of the ocean, for which your senses will be eternally grateful. And if you book far enough in advance, you can even visit by 4x4 taxi, one of the few vehicles allowed on the island. It is important to come here. And enjoy. A golden sandy beach overlooking the islets of Alegranza and Montaña Clara. After a pleasant walk from Caleta de Sebo, it is a genuine pleasure to reach Las Conchas and relax on the warm sand with a view of the Atlantic. The walk goes through easy semi-desert terrain. Its view of the islets Montaña Clara and Alegranza, the many shells that gave it its name, and the solitude, purity, and sense of freedom entice you to return the very next day. Just be careful with swimming as the currents are strong.
Fantastic experience: Incredibly beautiful beach, due to its beauty, which is enhanced by the surroundings and the waves give it an additional plus. Honestly, gorgeous, one of the best.
Fantastic experience: Good place to take a look around but it's dangerous to swim there. There is no surveillance.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach at the end of the world with a view of Montana Clara.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful beach
Fantastic experience: Paradisiacal beach that enchants you just with the view it presents upon arrival. But be very cautious, it is as beautiful as it is dangerous. You must be aware of the waves or ask in the village before going.
Fantastic experience: Incredible place, one of the best beaches I have ever seen in my life
Fantastic experience: I recommend doing the safari with the 4x4, it cost us 20 euros per person.
Positive experience: White sand beach and crystal clear water. There are no showers or trash cans. The sea is usually rough in that area and there is a red flag almost always.
Fantastic experience: Paradisiacal, clear water, few people, clean beach. The walk there takes about 1.5 hours, possibly rent a bike.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful beach on the island of La Graciosa. I advise taking a guide with a 4*4 to not miss the magnificent places on this island.
Fantastic experience: A bit dangerous for swimming.
Fantastic experience: Magnificent beach, not to forget the danger of these beaches due to their currents
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach, we cycled here from the town, an amazing place. Even though it was cloudy and very windy, the sea had a beautiful turquoise color.
Fantastic experience: I bathed here and the experience was spectacular.
Fantastic experience: The best beach on the island! You can't leave La Graciosa without visiting it!
Fantastic experience: One of the most beautiful beaches I have seen. The colors are amazing! It's a pity that the day we went it was cloudy and windy.
Fantastic experience: The best beach in La Graciosa without a doubt!!
Fantastic experience: My favorite
Fantastic experience: A must-visit in Graciosa. Perfect place to spend the day. Swimming is prohibited, but it is still worth it. I recommend hiking up Bermeja mountain at sunset.
Fantastic experience: Amazing beach, strong waves, and incredible views. I recommend getting there by 4x4 taxis... They offer the option of bikes but the paths are very rocky. Definitely contact Marcial, he offers impeccable service (be careful because there are several who try to scam).
Fantastic experience: The best beach in La Graciosa, be careful with the sea, there is a warning that a father and daughter died some time ago, the sea there can be treacherous, but the beach is one of the best I have seen. It was named one of the best in Europe.
Fantastic experience: Quite a large beach, great sandy beach. The waves were a bit stronger and you have to be careful with the current here. It's worth climbing up the hillside. The view of the beach is great.
Fantastic experience: It was all worth it.
Fantastic experience: Super!!!!!
Fantastic experience: Caribbean beach in Europe. Definitely worth the 5km walk from Caleta del Sebo.
Fantastic experience: Charming beach that absolutely deserves the trip to La Graciosa and the bike ride from Caleta Sebo!
Positive experience: Very beautiful beach, but with strong waves
Fantastic experience: A beautiful beach straight out of a picture book. Definitely plan for a longer stay here.
Positive experience: super beautiful long beach nice for a bike tour, however mostly too dangerous for swimming due to strong undertows. Unfortunately, no shade to linger, maybe bring an umbrella.
Fantastic experience: Worth seeing, quiet and peaceful. Cycling to it is not fast, and not that easy.
Fantastic experience: A must-visit place if you go to La Graciosa. Crystal clear water and very light sand. One of my favorite places in the Canary Islands. We went in mid-December with a temperature of 24º, unbeatable.
Fantastic experience: Arrive by boat...56 euros Rent the bike for another 10 Ride 5km uphill on the dirt road But then The curtain rises, the Magic of Nature comes to the stage Indescribable how beautiful it is Too bad you can't swim due to the currents A s p e c t a c l e ❤️
Fantastic experience: Fantastic in its wild beauty
Positive experience: Very beautiful beach, large in size, practically frequented only by young people (at least in April). Some naturists who do not cause any disturbance/problems, on the contrary, the landscape is suitable. Recommended!
Fantastic experience: Great beach. Very spacious with white sand. Swimming here is not really possible. Very high waves that you can just let yourself be carried away by.
Fantastic experience: I have never seen such large waves crashing on sand with almost pinkish colors. If you take a trip to La Graciosa, it is absolutely worth seeing. It is not advisable to swim because of the large waves, but the shoreline is so spacious that you will get wet anyway if you want to. WOW waves.
Fantastic experience: Beach with turquoise waters and quite a bit of waves; there are better beaches on the island for swimming, but the views are spectacular, it is worth visiting if you pass through the island.
Fantastic experience: You can reach it from Caleta de Sebi by walking (about 1 hour), by regular bike (30 minutes), or in one of the many 4x4 taxis that take you and pick you up at the time you indicate. There are no litter bins, so please bring a bag to take your waste back (and any plastic you find along the way). And watch out for currents and waves if you go into the water (even though the flag is red all year), do it in calm areas and preferably at low tide. Enjoy this idyllic place responsibly. P.S. Attached is a photo of a hidden carved stone. Let's see if you can find it...
Fantastic experience: Really beautiful beach. Reachable by bike in about half an hour. There is always a lot of wind and choppy sea, and it's dangerous to swim. It is still worth seeing.
Fantastic experience: It's spectacular
Fantastic experience: Beautiful. And a lot of waves. Turquoise waters and calm.
Fantastic experience: One of the most beautiful beaches I have visited. It is completely untouched and quiet. Being there gives you peace and makes you disconnect from everything. Very clean, with few people (at least on the day I went to visit it). I would definitely go back to relax and rest.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful
Fantastic experience: Beautiful wide beach with crystal clear water, you leave the bike up and it's less than a 5-minute walk to the beach.
Negative experience: It is extremely dangerous. When I entered the water, I felt like I was being swept away, and then when we were about to leave, we saw a horrible sign... there was a red flag and it's not for fun!!! There are no lifeguards and it's a complete disaster...
Fantastic experience: One of the most beautiful beaches in La Graciosa, light sand, turquoise water, accessible on foot, by bike, or by 4x4 taxi. Beware of strong waves for swimming (not supervised).
Fantastic experience: The truth is that this beach is a luxury. However, it is very dangerous to swim as the currents are very strong and the waves are very big, there is always a red flag, so if you swim, it should be at the shore since there have been several drownings. It's good to go for a while and get to know it but not to stay all day due to the danger.
Fantastic experience: One od the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. Amazing ❤️❤️❤️!
Negative experience: DO NOT ATTEMPT to go there on foot. As of today (1st October) the original road is closed, the only way to get there to take an extra 13-15km detour around the mountain - we realised only half way through. They should have warned us about this, every sign is in spanish only. Dont come to this island for Playa de las Conchas.
Fantastic experience: One of the most iconic beaches in la Graciosa island. Beware of the beach rip currents as they are strong and unpredictable. Bring your own food and always take the trash with you.
Fantastic experience: Very nice beach, still probably a bit overestimated as there are many other very nice beaches on the island. Please take into account the bike ride requires a good level (riding abilities and physically) as you get much wind and the path is unstable and sandy. Many people could not finish and were walking next to their bikes as the effort is quite strong. The level "easy" that they promote for the path is probably only to make work the bike businesses :) still it is far more interesting and eco-friendly than going in a jeep. Just take your time and enjoy the nature :)
Fantastic experience: Magical, beautiful beach, tucked away from everyone. The cycle there is rough and it's HOT so make sure you are capable cycling there and bring plenty of water.
Fantastic experience: This beach is amazing! If you go, leave it pristine and perfect!
