Sand Beach

Positive experience: A very crowded small beach, even in mid-December. Additionally, there were strong currents and high waves – swimming was prohibited. On the plus : affordable sunbeds and umbrellas, toilets, and nearby shops and restaurants. If you're looking for peace and relaxation, I wouldn't recommend it.

Fantastic experience: An interesting beach with black volcanic sand. After the completion of the reconstruction of the beach area, everything looks very nice. All the beach infrastructure is in place...

Fantastic experience: Nice beach. Fine, black sand. Access to showers and toilets for a small fee of 20 euro cents. You can park by the beach in a free parking area if you find a spot. No beach sellers typical of the nearby Costa Adeje selling towels, etc. The location in a valley makes it well sheltered from the wind.

Positive experience: We paid €20 for sandbeds and umbrella for us to relax and for the kids to swim. The flag was yellow/red the people swimming but apparently the yellow was for the adults and the red flag was for kids. My kids are over 10 years old and they do swimming lessons for over 6 years. I am pissed off I paid €20 we stayed 1 hour and now I have to take my kids somewhere else.

Easy to park, many terraces, shops, and restaurants nearby. Showers, toilets, everything available. The beach is quieter and not crowded. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: The beach is beautiful, and so are the waves. However, remember to wear shoes, the sand is so hot that it's hard to walk to the water. I struggled for two days with burnt feet.

Fantastic experience: Though it can be quite touristy, it is the best beach in Tenerife as the sand is soft. Plus, the sunset views are amazing. There are parking spaces around but they fill up easily. I would definitely recommend this beach if you are in the area to see Los Gigantes!

Fantastic experience: Small cove with black sand and rocks. Access is very comfortable. The lifeguard services are spectacular. At one point, they announced all the meteorological data of the moment (outside temperature, water temperature, tide status) and reminded everyone of the rules to follow on the beach (smoking and vaping are not allowed, for example). Additionally, the rules state that you cannot swim in any area other than between the two yellow flags located on the shore, for safety. The sand being so black absorbs a lot of heat, so I do not recommend going barefoot if you don't want to burn yourself. The water is clear and at a spectacular temperature!

Fantastic experience: Fairytale beach. It's even more charming on site than in the numerous pictures available online. The combination of the blue ocean, dark sand, colorful beach towels, pitch-black jagged rocks, palm trees, and nearby cliffs of Los Gigantes stays in memory. Everything is well organized. Stores, restaurants, and cafes are close by. The fact that you can only enter the water at certain parts of the beach and it gets deep quite quickly is part of the charm of this place. Sometimes lifeguards are very strict and intervene when people play ball (this is prohibited) or even when riding the waves on inflatable toys, but it’s manageable. You can even rent an umbrella. A special lifeguard team will organize the equipment for us in the chosen spot. Overall, I recommend these areas and the beach itself.

Positive experience: Nice beach, but out of the 8 days we were on vacation, there were strong waves for 5 days, it was scary to go into the water. I don't recommend the beach for children, elderly people, and those who swim poorly. I wish there were breakwaters.

Positive experience: It's somewhat complicated to find a parking space. It's a very beautiful beach with black sand (that burns quite a bit hehe), somewhat dangerous because it is full of rocks, it gets deep quickly and has waves. You can rent both sun loungers and umbrellas. From my point of view, I recommend going very early.

Positive experience: Crowded, people do not care about cleanliness. Tenerife is not a paradise for beachgoers; we will not find beautiful beaches, but beautiful nature and views.

Fantastic experience: A small, cozy beach that we really liked, although it can get crowded - great for little kids because there are puddles in the rocks where the little one can splash around and the older one can jump in the waves.

Positive experience: Bad beach, the sand was extremely hot, the showers had weak pressure. I do not recommend it for families with children, rather for couples, older people, etc. Otherwise, the water is clean and the surroundings are nice.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful black beach in the middle of the city; in my opinion, one of the most beautiful beaches in Tenerife. Easily accessible by car. If there are no parking spaces available at the beach, there are more parking options in the side streets. Sunbeds and umbrellas cost 4 EUR each and can be used until 6 PM. Shopping and dining options in the area. Unfortunately, on our first visit, there were no drinks or ice cream available directly on the beach, but on the other two visits, the sales area was open. The black sand gets very hot - water shoes/flip-flops are basically a must. The sea gets deep quickly and there is a strong current - not suitable for children. The flags green, yellow, and red signal the situation. With beach supervision (Lifeguard).

Positive experience: Very beautiful small bay. Lifeguards present. Black hot sand. Sunbeds and umbrellas for an extra charge. Shops, bars, and restrooms. During our stay, the water was pleasant, with hardly any waves, and it was good for swimming.

Positive experience: Black sand beach with the option to rent sunbeds and umbrellas. The sand is excessively hot, it's ideal to wear flip-flops. The water is quite cool but acceptable.

Negative experience: The beach is not very nice, not only that, but the sand burns, even with flip-flops, it is unbearable, like stepping on hot coals. The water, on the other hand, was like from the North Pole, and full of little algae. The only way to survive is by staying under the umbrellas, because even putting a towel on the ground burns you, an umbrella and two sun loungers cost you 12€.

Fantastic experience: It's a beautiful beach, but the sand is so dark that it absorbs all the heat from the sun and it's really hot. I recommend bringing two towels or something to sit on. The swimming area is limited, as it is dangerous and there are many rocks. It's a lovely place and a quality beach. We went during the low season and there weren't too many people; I can't imagine how crowded this beach will be in August.

Fantastic experience: Vacation, nice hotel, several pools and a new outdoor spa area, very attentive staff and top-notch food and drinks. We were able to enjoy a live paella with freshly made sangria in the pool area with entertainer Ricardo and the Great Chef Javier. The buffet dining area was acceptable. And the nighttime show was very good. The live music at the pool was fantastic as well. We have to go back.

Positive experience: There was a strong surf that swept many tourists away. Be careful with the black sand as well. Definitely bring a large beach towel and swim shoes! And pay attention to the signs about what you can and cannot do. Otherwise, you risk getting yelled at by the lifeguards. I have observed this a few times.

Fantastic experience: Super beach. I am writing the review right from it. I rented a sun umbrella for 4€ per day because it's sunny. The water is great. There are tasty restaurants nearby with prices below average. I recommend this place.

Positive experience: Small pleasant beach but the sand is really hot, it's impossible to walk on it, even with sandals, you really need surf shoes to be able to walk on the sand. The lifeguard staff is not friendly at all.

Fantastic experience: Free public beach, not crowded, possibility to rent sun loungers, free warm showers, lifeguard service very attentive and operational both in maintaining the beach and in water monitoring-rescue. Fine sand, beautiful, magnificent waves, seabed that goes from sandy to deep and rocky in a few meters, very nice to dive in and follow the wave motion along with the fish or get overwhelmed by the waves on the shore.

Positive experience: Nice and comfortable beach, the waves are not big. 2 sunbeds + umbrella for 12 euros. You need to enter the water where the flags are, to avoid hurting your feet on the stones at the bottom.

Fantastic experience: So far, the only beach I know with black sand (not small stones), which is what one expects to see on a volcanic island. The most interesting thing is when there are many people with their multicolored towels and umbrellas... the contrast is beautiful, it can even be perceived in the photos. Everyone I take is delighted. It's not easy to park nearby on holidays or when it's very crowded.

Positive experience: Very nice black sand beach. The waves were intense one day we were there and the next day they were not, so I guess it depends on the weather. There is a lifeguard there until 18:00 that is looking out for the safety of swimmers and some days they only let you swim in designated areas. There is also umbrella and sunbed rentals available but it's good to be aware that they shut down around 19:00.

Fantastic experience: Very beautiful beach with fine, black sand that sparkled in the sun. We really enjoyed it here and visited it twice during our stay. Loungers and umbrellas could be rented separately. In strong winds, the Baywatch comes and lowers the umbrellas. Strong waves, beautiful impressive view. For swimming, it was too wild for me and also a bit too dangerous. We would spend days here again!

Positive experience: High waves, often red flag.

Fantastic experience: In our opinion, one of the most beautiful beaches in Tenerife, we have returned many times!

Fantastic experience: An extraordinary beach due to the black sand. However, when it is windy, the sand is whipped up so much that you get a peeling, either willingly or unwillingly. That would be the only limitation I would like to point out about this beach. So it's better to choose a calm day. Along the road, there are many restaurants and a few small kiosks. The parking situation can be described as tense, you might have to park further up on the feeders at the roadside.

Positive experience: There were a lot of people and we couldn't swim. The beach is large and very pretty. We enjoyed eating an ice cream and continued the walk towards the devil's pool which was also closed!

Fantastic experience: Give me Playa de la Arena any day over the popular touristy spots further up the coast that are full of tasteless English groups and make it more like Blackpool than Tenerife. The bars and restaurants here are nice and cultured, catering for all types of tastes and the beaches around here are gorgeous. The lifeguards on the beaches keep everybody safe when the waves are too strong and prices for loungers and sombrero's are reasonable.

Fantastic experience: One of the most beautiful beaches in Tenerife. Healing sand, which contains magnet (explained by the fact that it makes it difficult to shake off the body. Once my phone's magnetic charger fell into the sand... I had to separate it grain by grain! I often see people with disabilities burying themselves in the sand and not only because the sand contains jade, history says it helps! The only unpleasant thing is the waves, and they are almost always present.

Fantastic experience: It's paradise, calm with a good atmosphere, the area is very beautiful, the temperature is nice, the beach, the food, you have everything excellent, what more could you ask for, I recommend it.

Fantastic experience: Beach near the place where we were staying. This is a beach with black volcanic sand. Not very large but spacious and beautiful. It's just that there are usually waves and the water is colder than in Adeje.

Positive experience: We stayed at the Allegro Isora Hotel, so it’s not far from this beach. I’ve been a couple of times, not on the beach itself, because I don’t really like sunbathing, but sightseeing yes :-). I was with friends who spent a lot of time on this beach and praised it very much. According to what my friends said, Szymon L's opinion is 100% accurate. The walk from the hotel to the beach also allows you to see the tourist architecture in its great variety, and the landscapes are nice. You can almost see Los Gigantes.

Positive experience: A beautiful, scenic beach surrounded by plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars. The lifeguards are over the top however, with almost every day being red flagged. The sea was not crazy today (I could comfortably float on my back behind the breaker waves), but the lifeguards whistled me out. Disappointing if you want to actually swim.

Fantastic experience: One of the most beautiful beaches in Tenerife. Those who arrive early have a chance of getting good spots with a wonderful view of Gomera. There are strong sea currents here, and the lifeguard's instructions must be followed; they are not positioned there for fun.
