Tejita Beach
Information
La Playa de la Tejita, situated in Tenerife, is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and expansive black sand. This beach offers visitors a relaxed atmosphere and breathtaking views of the nearby Montaña Roja. Here are some key points about the beach:
- Natural and Scenic: A vast natural beach ideal for those looking to unwind with views of the mountains.
- Ideal for Surfing: The beach is well-liked by surfers thanks to its impressive waves.
- Amenities: While there are sunbeds available for rent at a reasonable price, the absence of food and drink services is noted by many.
- Windy Conditions: The beach can be quite windy, which may not be suitable for all visitors, especially families and those wanting to sunbathe comfortably.
- Accessibility: There is ample parking available, though the entry road may need some caution.
- Mixed Usage: The beach has areas for both textile bathers and nudists, leading to a diverse visitor demographic.
Overall, Playa de la Tejita is a must-visit for nature lovers seeking a tranquil beach experience, but it’s advisable to check weather conditions in advance and prepare for the windy environment.

Fantastic experience: Very nice beach. Large parking lots. On one side, a view of the water and ships leaving the port, on the other side, mountains.
Positive experience: Not many people, nice sand, no problem with parking, minus for the strong wind when we were there
Negative experience: I had rented an apartment in La Tejita. Problem: the beach is very far and inaccessible on foot. I did not go there.
Positive experience: Tejita Beach in Tenerife is a great beach that offers ample space to relax and enjoy the sea. Although it is a bit windy, this can be pleasant during hot days. Another plus is the ample parking available, which makes access very convenient. An ideal destination for those looking for a spacious and well-equipped beach.
Positive experience: Classic beach, with indeed a beautiful view, but swimming is not monitored and the rental of a sunbed costs €15 (for reference, it costs €6 in the north of the island), so don't be caught out. The parking is free, but be very careful at the entrance, it is in very poor condition!

Positive experience: The beach is very nice, parking is good. We went with our mini sausage dog because we had read in several blogs that, although it is not a dog beach, you could bring your pet. Also, a previous review on Google stated 'there are many pets.' The reality is that as soon as we arrived, the lifeguard came and told us that we couldn't be there with the dog, that if we had paid attention to the signs we would have known. Attached is a photo of the sign in question, hahahaha, no seriously we looked carefully and there is no sign that reads no dogs.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful beach with volcanic black sand, the only downside is the wind.
Positive experience: Great beach but a lot of wind, fortunately there are some protections that were naturally built with volcanic stones. Additionally, some somewhat questionable naturists in the drinks.
Positive experience: Tejita Beach offers a unique experience with its black volcanic sand. The beach is a great spot on calm days, but a big pain during windy ones. However, the parking situation can be challenging and is somewhat inconvenient. On the positive side, there are several restaurants nearby, providing options for snacks and meals, enhancing the overall beach experience.
Fantastic experience: Beach of black volcanic sand, here the ocean is very majestic and with high waves, nudist beach. The only downside is that there are neither toilets nor refreshment points nearby. However, I recommend spending a day at this beach because you are really away from the city chaos and can breathe only nature.

Positive experience: Beautiful black sand beach! However, there is a lot of wind, but the rock shelters are very nice for taking cover. Many nudists also hang around.
Fantastic experience: So far, the most beautiful beach in the South. Windy, big waves, black sand, really long, with unreal views.
Fantastic experience: Spectacular views of a couple of landmark places and also the airport. The parking is fine, but keep in mind that it is a bumpy strip of land. There is still a good walk to the coast. The beach is always quite crowded but there is plenty of space to find a free spot. There is a lifeguard station and the sand is soft when entering the water.
Positive experience: Wide beach with the background of the red mountain and ample parking (you have to walk a bit to reach the beach), some equipped bathrooms, choppy and windy sea, semi-dark sand with nearby takeoff and landing of airplanes. Several nudists present. Too windy, better in the secluded coves but for nudists.
Positive experience: A spacious sandy beach where you can surf, swim, and sunbathe. The view is beautiful. Be careful with the beach chair and umbrella rental companies. The offered price was € 5 for a beach chair and an umbrella. When I asked for 4, it suddenly became € 30... Scammers through and through. That's why 3 stars instead of 5 stars... A shame about their behavior.

Positive experience: For me, one of the most beautiful beaches in Tenerife. Close to the airport, but you can't hear planes more than anywhere else on the island. It's often very windy, making it unsuitable for children to swim, but ideal for surfers. Inexperienced swimmers should also not go out too far due to the strong current. It must be said that the wind is also a nice cooling effect in the sun. The beach itself is huge and not crowded, which makes it peaceful. Sunbeds are €15 for 2 pieces and an umbrella, which is a bit pricey, but the scenery makes up for it. There are no restaurants, etc., but there is a lifeguard.
Fantastic experience: A really beautiful beach that is not yet shaped by tourism. A cute little beach bar where you can spend nice hours. Here I also proposed to my wife. The video about it is on Auswandern 2.0 on YouTube.
Fantastic experience: Very nice beach, but there is no beach bar to grab something and it has a nudist area.
Positive experience: Very beautiful beach and very accessible to get there by car (there is public parking), no slopes. Just check the wind before going, otherwise it can be a bit uncomfortable to stay, but other than that, very nice! There is no beach bar, so take water and what you need.
Positive experience: A bit far away, with somewhat inconvenient parking, a lot of wind, but the water is spectacular and there are not many waves. Also, it's sandy and not rocky. When we went, there were no beach bars or anything similar.

Positive experience: I was there yesterday. It's a wonderful beach with strong waves and wind. Well, it was a bad experience for me as one unexpected strong wave washed away my phone, which was kept a few meters away. I tried to find it for 1 hour with the help of the lifeguard and other swimmers, but it wasn’t helpful. I lost my iPhone.
Negative experience: Today, Saturday, August 17, at 4:15, an elderly gentleman drowned and the lifeguards did nothing to help him. After some time, during which the man was shouting and asking for help, they pulled him out, but it was already too late and unfortunately he passed away. A shame for the lifeguard staff of La Tejita, may he rest in peace.

Negative experience: The beach itself is very beautiful if you don't look back at the horrendous abandoned buildings. They say it's a naturist beach where normally everyone is welcome, and the lifeguard came to tell a couple who were quietly lying there with their small dog that the DOG cannot be on the beach and they have to leave. What a shame! A discrimination in every sense. The beach belongs to everyone!

Positive experience: Ohh well... the beach is beautiful but not really for nudists, mostly old, fat guys...
Negative experience: The beach is beautiful but I just had a unpleasant experience of being stalked by two middle aged men a little bit after dark. Very unsettling. Don't visit after dark alone.
Positive experience: A good spot if you like the cruising vibe. There were people getting their fill. As for the beach, it was extremely windy and the water was exorbitantly clean.
Fantastic experience: A great beach, it is huge, and in November there were only a few people. However, it can sometimes be quite windy. In the eastern part (closer to the mountain) there are more nudists, while in the western part there are more families with children. The water is clear, and the entry into the water is good. Watch out for the waves – my things got wet, and a wave almost swept them away.
Positive experience: Beautiful black sand beach! However, there is a lot of wind, but the rock shelters are very nice for taking cover. Many nudists also hang around.

Positive experience: Beach suitable for surfers
Positive experience: For me, one of the most beautiful beaches in Tenerife. Close to the airport, but you can't hear planes more than anywhere else on the island. Fantastic experience: Beautiful and large beach with plenty of space in case it gets crowded, the only thing is that today it's very windy and it's impossible to set up an umbrella and it's 39°, so being in the sun is nice but a bit of shade is necessary, the sand blows with the wind haha it covers the blankets, a lot of wind, on the other side there’s another beach where we saw people doing kiteboarding or rather paragliding surfing.
Positive experience: La Tejita Beach is a true gem in Tenerife and offers breathtaking natural beauty. The striking feature of this beach is the impressive red mountain Montana Roja, contrasting with the deep blue Atlantic. The view is simply spectacular, providing great photo opportunities. The beach itself is large and well-maintained. The golden sand is soft and inviting, ideal for sunbathing and relaxing. The water is clean and refreshing, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. I even watched some water sports enthusiasts windsurfing. There is ample parking near the beach, which is very convenient. Additionally, there is a beach bar where you can grab refreshments and snacks. What makes this beach particularly special is its tranquility and calmness. Compared to some of the more crowded beaches in Tenerife, like Playa de las Américas, La Tejita is a peaceful spot, perfect for a relaxing day at the sea. A minor drawback could be the occasional presence of strong winds that can stir up the sand, but that depends on the season. Overall, La Tejita Beach is a wonderful place for nature and beach lovers seeking a quiet and picturesque environment. I would definitely recommend it, and it is worth visiting this hidden treasure in Tenerife.

Fantastic experience: A very quiet beach to take a walk in the South of Tenerife. There are many people kitesurfing and doing sports activities. There is sunbed service, but in winter I didn’t find any beach bar to have a drink.

Me encantó.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful place at all hours of the day. Decent snorkeling near the red mountain. Arrive early to get the best spots.

Fantastic experience: Very pleasant beach, at the moment there was no wind, the water temperature was reasonable, nice to accompany various people doing nudism.

Positive experience: Ohh well... the beach is beautiful but not really for nudists, mostly old, fat guys...
Fantastic experience: Nice beach

Well, it was a bad experience for me as one unexpected strong wave washed away my phone, which was kept a few meters away. I tried to find it for 1 hour with the help of the lifeguard and other swimmers, but it wasn’t helpful. I lost my iPhone.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach! Unfortunately, on the days I was there, it was always very windy and a bit cold. If you want to avoid nudists, do not go to the establishment near the Red Mountain.
Fantastic experience: quiet beach with a nice viewpoint.
Negative experience: The beach is beautiful but I just had a unpleasant experience of being stalked by two middle aged men a little bit after dark. Very unsettling. Don't visit after dark alone.
Fantastic experience: Very nice beach. Large parking lots. On one side, a view of the water and ships leaving the port, on the other side, mountains.

Watch out for the waves – my things got wet, and a wave almost swept them away.
Positive experience: Not many people, nice sand, no problem with parking, minus for the strong wind when we were there
Positive experience: Beach suitable for surfers
Fantastic experience: It's one of our favorite beaches. Well protected from the prevailing winds, at least at the foot of the Red Mountain. Textile and naturist. Contrary to one review, the rental of sun loungers with umbrellas is 15€ for TWO PEOPLE (and not one), which is not excessive.
Negative experience: Today, Saturday, August 17, at 4:15, an elderly gentleman drowned and the lifeguards did nothing to help him. After some time, during which the man was shouting and asking for help, they pulled him out, but it was already too late and unfortunately he passed away. Positive experience: Nice beach with waves up to 1 m.
Negative experience: I had rented an apartment in La Tejita. Problem: the beach is very far and inaccessible on foot. I did not go there.
Positive experience: Beautiful black sand beach! However, there is a lot of wind, but the rock shelters are very nice for taking cover. Many nudists also hang around.
Fantastic experience: Places that captivate...
Fantastic experience: It is a true spectacle of waves, they are huge, it is worth going just to see it, although swimming is not guaranteed.
Fantastic experience: It's a super cool beach, but the wind makes it impossible since you can't stay for long and definitely not on the towel. It can be nudist and there are no services or restrooms, just an area with sunbeds and hammocks.
Fantastic experience: So far, the most beautiful beach in the South. Windy, big waves, black sand, really long, with unreal views.
Fantastic experience: Super beach!!!
Fantastic experience: Magnificent view but too windy!
Fantastic experience: Small black sand beach, very beautiful and with services
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful beach, with an unreal view, next to the Red Mountain. It is not crowded but the wind was very strong, we couldn't swim because of the big waves.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach, not far from the red mountain and for quiet visitors like campers. Not very touristic, just right. Close to El Medano.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach with volcanic black sand and good waves. Cozy, warm, and nice.
Fantastic experience: One of the best beaches in Tenerife in my opinion. Clean sand, easy access to the ocean, crystal clear water. Minimal infrastructure, so there are not many tourists, mostly locals. There are several parking spaces, there is always a spot for your car. Beautiful view of Montaña Roja, one of the longest beaches, over a kilometer. It is often windy and has strong waves, so check the forecast before your trip.
Positive experience: Super beach, mega long and wide. Huge waves! It's a bit of a shame that there's no bar or toilet.

Several nudists present. Too windy, better in the secluded coves but for nudists.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful place. Naturist. A bit windy, but the whole island is like that.
Fantastic experience: A place filled with positive atmosphere, you can shed all negative thoughts and you can also take off your swimsuit for a nude sunbath.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach and very nice view. A bit more wind and bigger waves.
Fantastic experience: Great beach with parking! There's a naturist area, but that's not bothersome for us! Sometimes it's windy, but with a panoramic view as a reward.
Positive experience: The downsides are strong winds and nudists around. The positives are the mountain we climbed, the clean ocean, the sand, the vacation, and the mood.
Sunbeds are €15 for 2 pieces and an umbrella, which is a bit pricey, but the scenery makes up for it. There are no restaurants, etc., but there is a lifeguard.
Positive experience: Since the airport is not far away, it can be quite loud here at times. If you like that, this is the right place for you, but there are nicer spots in Tenerife.
Positive experience: Very beautiful beach but with a lot (too much) of wind... be careful, there are some nudists wandering around the area... (and not the most beautiful ones :) ).
What a shame! A discrimination in every sense. The beach belongs to everyone!
Fantastic experience: Very calm, FEW PEOPLE and easy to park. Good waves due to the wind.
Negative experience: never go there!!! strong wind, sharp sand in the air, black sand beach. Waste of time and nerves
Fantastic experience: One of the best beaches on the island! Big waves and a super view!
Positive experience: Beach with free parking and easy access, areas with sun loungers on both sides of the beach with considerable dimensions to be away from people around you. The big problem is the wind, which made it impossible not only to swim but also to stay there. It's a shame because it's beautiful.
Positive experience: Very windy beach with natural sand, be very careful with the currents, parking next to it.
Fantastic experience: Tejitas Beach in Tenerife is a true paradise. This extensive golden sand beach, located next to the Red Mountain, offers a natural and tranquil environment, perfect for relaxation. Its crystal-clear waters are ideal for swimming and practicing water sports. Additionally, it is an excellent place to enjoy stunning sunsets. The beauty and serenity of this beach make it a must-visit in Tenerife. Totally recommended for nature lovers!
Positive experience: The beach is very nice, parking is good. We went with our mini sausage dog because we had read in several blogs that, although it is not a dog beach, you could bring your pet. Also, a previous review on Google stated 'there are many pets.' Fantastic experience: Very large beach! Huge waves!! Hit and run!
Positive experience: Beautiful mixed beach (textile and free) peacefully lying on the numerous sunbeds.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful beach but quite windy, I recommend 'renting' the umbrellas for €15 a day
Positive experience: Special place to the southwest of the island, windy but clearly the best sandy beach. Next to the Red Mountain. I couldn't tell if there are facilities to eat or drink.
Positive experience: The beach is magnificent and huge with a mix of black and white sand. Sunbeds are available for 15 euros a day with wind protection because the only downside is that there is a lot of wind on this beach! Without that, it would be simply perfect.
Positive experience: A sizable beach, lacking tourist infrastructure. Plenty of space for everyone. Right next to it, at the cliff, is a nudist beach.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful large beach with rocks in the water, airport and El Teide in the background. Very windy but with a ship in the water.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful big beach. Nearby is a mountain, from which you can admire the beach, the ocean, and the airport from above. The beach is clean, and the sun warms the sand. There are no cafes or showers. You can rent a sunbed and an umbrella. You can sunbathe and swim naked. There is a large parking lot for cars near the beach. I recommend choosing this beach not on a windy day!
Positive experience: Beautiful beach, however there is almost nothing nearby. This makes it favorable for those who prefer more natural shorelines. There are no restrooms or showers at the beach. The sunbeds are a bit expensive, we paid 15 euros for them. I do not recommend it for children, the waves are very strong and there are many nudists.
Fantastic experience: Very nice beach, but there is no beach bar to grab something and it has a nudist area.
Fantastic experience: I liked the beach, it's beautiful and it was definitely one of my favorite places, the access was inconvenient but everything was fine
Fantastic experience: It was really good! Especially windy but we loved it!
Fantastic experience: Very nice beach, easy and close to park. Clean sand and nice location. One of the best in Tenerife from what we saw!
Positive experience: Very beautiful beach and very accessible to get there by car (there is public parking), no slopes. Just check the wind before going, otherwise it can be a bit uncomfortable to stay, but other than that, very nice! There is no beach bar, so take water and what you need.
Positive experience: It is a spectacular beach but not practical for spending the day. There's a wind that prevents you from staying on the beach, only passing through. That said, it is worth stopping by to see it.
Fantastic experience: Wow, beautiful beach and a great recommendation for nudists.
Positive experience: Nice beach, can get windy. Full of nudists and the closer to the red mountain you get the more strange the people get…
Fantastic experience: The square is super sandy. It was a bit windy, but the weather was like that that day. There are no bars or changing rooms there. However, there was a lifeguard. There were quite a few naturists.
Negative experience: Total nonsense, cold beach not suitable for relaxation.. if you are not a windsurfer, you will be sunbathing in a hat and jacket, because there is a strong wind all the time, the coldest place on the island between this beach and Los Cristianos is a ten-minute drive away. Today, April 28, 2024, it was 19 degrees warm with wind and clouds.. in Cristianos it was 27 degrees. It’s a shame that no one said anything, and we rented an apartment for 10 days in this place... sunbathing and especially swimming is unrealistic.. we have to go to Adeje, otherwise this is not Tenerife but a desert at plus 19 degrees..... sand mixed with stones,.. the crowd consists of educated stoners, Rastafarians with dreadlocks in caravans, and German egg rattlers, nudists with 70+ year old girlfriends... a normal person avoids this place by a wide margin.. not recommended at all...
Fantastic experience: Great beach with gray sand. There are sunbeds for rent, but you can also lie on your own. There is a large parking lot nearby, we always found a spot.
Positive experience: Nice beach, very windy.
Fantastic experience: Very wide and beautiful beach. Not crowded, and also for naturists. Sandy and desert flora with a view of the promontory.
Positive experience: A very beautiful beach, only in strong winds it gets a bit uncomfortable as the sand flies around and hurts. But otherwise definitely top. (There are also lifeguards).
Positive experience: Silence, tranquility, full relaxation and wind - a head-blowing wind and sand that, driven by the wind, works better than sandblasting in a familiar workshop. For the first time, I experienced that being hit by sand hurts like hundreds of tiny needles :) . There is no tourist infrastructure around, so you need to bring your own food/drinks. Loungers (2) cost €12 per day. The days are very smooth, with few stones, and entering the water is calm. At times, there are large waves - be careful. Parking in front of the beach is free, but it fills up quickly after 12.
Fantastic experience: Calm, very wide and long beach. There is a large free parking area, but the entrance leaves much to be desired, even for tall cars. Nice shining sand, the beach can be described as quite windy. There is a small area with umbrellas and sun loungers, but definitely a lack of toilets, showers, etc. For the active ones, you can go up to look at the beach from a height and at the airport.
Positive experience: Beautiful sandy beach where you can also be naked, there are no bars or bathrooms. There are umbrellas and sunbeds for 6 euros. Go on days with little wind.
Fantastic experience: I always go to this beach, it's windy.... But it also helps relieve the heat, to each their own.
Positive experience: A bit far away, with somewhat inconvenient parking, a lot of wind, but the water is spectacular and there are not many waves. Also, it's sandy and not rocky. When we went, there were no beach bars or anything similar.
Fantastic experience: Excellent beach, the best in Tenerife to enjoy the natural scenery. There's a beach bar very close to the small beach that is great for having a drink and eating.
Fantastic experience: My husband is from the Canary Islands and avoids crowded areas. I hope this corner is respected and that large, crowded tourist developments are not allowed to be built, so that small places like this can remain for locals who want to enjoy their land.
Positive experience: We haven't had much luck with the weather, we have been here for 1 week and every day has been cloudy. However, we enjoyed lying on the sand. The beach is easily accessible from the dirt parking lot, via a dirt path of about 100 meters.
Fantastic experience: Great sandy beach, also fantastic for nudism.
Fantastic experience: Nice beach, partly places with many people. Perfect for a small day trip if you have to go to the airport later.
Fantastic experience: Naturist beach, in my opinion one of the most beautiful on the island. With various coves where you can relax in peace... It is easily accessible via paths, there is a part of the beach that is equipped. The only drawback is that there are no kiosks, bring your own drinks, from time to time some guys pass by selling water, tea or beer. Accessible with a large parking area.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful beach with volcanic black sand, the only downside is the wind.
Positive experience: Beautiful beach. It's a shame that the surroundings are not well maintained.
Fantastic experience: An unbeatable experience, the truth is, we don't know what is more beautiful. Tenerife has spectacular views and everything is very calm for a repeat visit.
Positive experience: Good long beach on some busy days you will have some trouble to find a parking spot. If you are there in a wrong time you have a chance to see a giant tanker parked like 300 meters from the coast and on one side of the beach you can see few unfinished buildings.
Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed going back for the sunset, the change of the Red Mountain was incredible. I thought it was beautiful at sunset, a quiet beach for a little walk at sunset and to enjoy the calm.
Positive experience: The beach is huge but the proximity to the road makes it quite busy. Parking is plentiful even on busy days, however, if you’re looking for a naturist beach that is secluded, private and quiet this isn’t it. As others mention the naturist side is on the left but it’s still 50/50 textile (and is really only 10% of the entire beach). The rest of the beach is mostly textile. The mountain climb is 3km up and down and worth it. If you want to relax look elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful place with a sheltered area from the winds, beautiful walks, too bad about the new constructions on the side of los abrigos
Fantastic experience: Wide beach with dark sand and sunbed rentals, there are no other services and in April we found a lot of wind.
Fantastic experience: A large, spacious, sandy beach, everyone can find a spot for themselves. There are lifeguards on the beach, and you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas. It's a mixed beach, with both naturists and textile users. Pleasant and friendly.
Positive experience: Nice beach for skinny dipping - some are dressed, some are half-dressed. It's a colorful mix, but everything was very relaxed. Water with and without waves... close to the beach, a tanker was anchored, which was a bit unsightly. But the beach is clean, no kids, everything is calm and chill. The mountain protruding into the water makes for a nice backdrop - it wasn't a highlight.
Positive experience: Beautiful and large beach, but too windy, it even hurt my legs.
Fantastic experience: Beach with dark sand and a view of Mount Montana Roya, very nice but also windy!
Positive experience: Great beach but a lot of wind, fortunately there are some protections that were naturally built with volcanic stones. Additionally, some somewhat questionable naturists in the drinks.
Fantastic experience: A long sandy beach, over 1 km long. Black and golden sand. Gradual entry into the water. One of the best nude beaches. The wind causes certain inconveniences, but you can settle closer to Montaña Roja, where there is no wind.
