English Beach
Information
Playa del Inglés is a vibrant and well-known beach located on the southern coast of Gran Canaria. Renowned for its stunning golden sand and clear waters, it stretches nearly 3 kilometers, offering an ideal spot for sunbathing and various water sports such as surfing and windsurfing. The beach is surrounded by a lively area with numerous restaurants, bars, and shops, making it a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. Visitors appreciate the extensive sandy stretch, the nearby natural dunes of Maspalomas, and the cleanliness of the beach.
However, some reviewers have mentioned that it can become quite crowded, especially during peak season, which might detract from the experience. The waves can be quite strong, making swimming challenging for families with young children. Additionally, access to the beach may involve descending long staircases, posing difficulties for those with mobility issues. While it has many excellent amenities, there are concerns about the maintenance and cleanliness of certain areas, and some have criticized the high prices in surrounding establishments. Nonetheless, Playa del Inglés remains a beautiful beach worth visiting.

Positive experience: Beautiful dunes. Especially in clear sunshine, very warm. Certain areas are cordoned off for animals only. Unfortunately, people often do not adhere to this... Due to some people without decency, it is unfortunately dirtier than it should be. There are plenty of trash cans. All in all, a super pleasant retreat if you do not want to lie directly on the beach.
Positive experience: A wide and windy beach with lots of space. Large paid parking adjacent and also nearby. Lots of souvenir stores and restaurants, usually many people walking around at all hours at the large plaza/square with a scenic view of the ocean for great picture taking.
Positive experience: The beach is very nice, but the access to the beaches involves quite long stairs, so if you have mobility issues, I'm not sure if there is another way to get to the beach.
Fantastic experience: Very nice beach, large and clean with restaurants and shops nearby.
Fantastic experience: A huge and well-maintained beach. It can be windy at times, especially after 4:00 PM. There is always space available and there is a large paid parking lot right at the entrance to the beach.

Positive experience: I visited the beach, it is very nice, there is a shopping mall nearby with shops and restaurants.

Positive experience: No, it's not an English beach. It's a Spanish beach: Playa del Engless in Gran Canaria. The picture is of 'dunes' = sand cliffs.

Overall, reviews of Playa del Inglés often emphasize the cleanliness of the beach and the excellent facilities available, though some may mention that during high season it can get quite crowded.
Fantastic experience: The longest beach in Gran Canaria. Huge, extremely clean, passes by the dunes reservation of Maspalomas. Friendly with nudists also. Fantastic walks, baths in the sun and the ocean, the sand is fine. Far away it is rocky but huge part of it is prepared for tourists.
Fantastic experience: I visited recently and loved the waters and sand of this beach, I recommend it.
Fantastic experience: It's a safe place very popular with locals as well as tourists. The sunbeds with parasol are €7.50 (for two users). There are many points when you reach the edge of the beach and back to paved areas, where you can wash off your sandy feet or indeed yourself fully, these are free. There are many taxis to be found even at the busiest points in the car park, just the other side of the beach.

Positive experience: A wide and windy beach with lots of space. Large paid parking adjacent and also nearby. Lots of souvenir stores and restaurants, usually many people walking around at all hours at the large plaza/square with a scenic view of the ocean for great picture taking.
Positive experience: The beach is nice, full of restaurants, etc., around the sun loungers and umbrellas. Also, starting at 5 PM, you can go there without paying for the sun loungers because it closes. The water is beautiful, there are strong waves, but refreshing. Be careful, the beach is crowded because it is the main one.

Fantastic experience: Very nice beach, large and clean with restaurants and shops nearby.
Negative experience: It was super crowded and the prices at the restaurants are very expensive, and they speak to you in English before Spanish. If you are Spanish, there are many better and less crowded beaches. It is super difficult to find parking and the parking is very expensive.

Fantastic experience: Very spacious and big beach. It’s not crowded at all and everyone has personal space. The waves are little and the water is shallow. It’s lifeguarded and there’s plenty of bars and music. However if you prefer nature and quiet, you can walk further down the beach and have the whole beach for yourself. It’s a massive beach.
Positive experience: Classic tourist beach. Beach clean. However, there are already cigarette butts lying around. 2 sunbeds and umbrella for €7.50. They are in good condition. No public toilets. Showers available sporadically. No changing facilities. Beach vendors are very present and often very annoying. Sea access is shallow. Waves are strong and you must pay close attention to the current. Lifeguard on site. Shopping opportunity right on the promenade. Pay attention to the reviews of the places. There are often really bad restaurants. However, you can spend a very good day.
Negative experience: They are jeopardizing the safety of a beautiful and spectacular area. I feel sorry for the workers and for the other people who live in that area because in the long run, it will affect them. I believe that a drift has started that we need to react to and not remain silent.

Negative experience: I have been trying to understand the 'supposed charm of this beach' for three days, and for me, it's the worst. The dunes are nice, and you can see them in 10 minutes. Everything looks horrible and old, the bars have expensive and low-quality food. It's a place aimed at tourists and nothing more. Don't waste your time, it's HORRIBLE TERRIFYING.
Positive experience: English Beach in Maspalomas. Clean sand and mild water.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful, wide beach with very pleasant fine sand. The descent to the ocean is gentle and, most importantly, free of stones. Larger waves often appear here, which is a great plus for surfers. There are plenty of interesting restaurants and souvenir shops around the beach.
Fantastic experience: A phenomenal beach, with its sand dunes. A very long beach with good weather. On its avenue, you can find restaurants, pizzerias, shops, and it’s sunny 365 days a year. There is a naturist area where you can practice surfing and a nudist area. For me, the best, the most beautiful, and the largest beach in Gran Canaria. I recommend it to everyone.

Fantastic experience: Very easy access to the beach, good water temperature, fun waves, variety of places to get a drink.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach. Unfortunately, no restrooms. Various sellers of massages and sunglasses, but they are not pushy. There are many bars.
Positive experience: There are too few sunbeds and umbrellas available..the beach is very extensive and difficult to reach... A large section of the beach and even in the dunes is unfortunately not always youth-friendly... as many use it for various meetings
Fantastic experience: A beautiful beach. We accessed it from the dunes where there were few people, a few nudists, and as we went up there were more people with umbrellas and hammocks. One of the best beaches we have visited so far. There are quite a few waves, but they make swimming fun. There are many beach restaurants and stalls nearby to buy gifts and souvenirs. Definitely recommend visiting.
Fantastic experience: Groooot strand mooi en divers sluit aan op Dunas de Maspalomas zeer mooi

Fantastic experience: Beautiful place
Fantastic experience: Always worth a walk!
Positive experience: No, it's not an English beach. It's a Spanish beach: Playa del Engless in Gran Canaria. The picture is of 'dunes' = sand cliffs.
Positive experience: Usually very busy
Fantastic experience: Beautiful.. a place that deserves a visit once in a lifetime
Negative experience: Calima again...
Fantastic experience: Fabulous
Positive experience: A wide and windy beach with lots of space. Large paid parking adjacent and also nearby. Lots of souvenir stores and restaurants, usually many people walking around at all hours at the large plaza/square with a scenic view of the ocean for great picture taking.
Negative experience: You need to be careful about stomach problems when encountering a gang of 70+ with hanging limbs. There are many of them and children do not bother them.
Fantastic experience: The best beach on the island
Fantastic experience: One of the most beautiful holiday destinations ever!
Fantastic experience: You have everything, I feel comfortable.
Fantastic experience: It's very long, next to the dunes. The downside is that there are waves every day, so I don't recommend it for children or elderly people.
Fantastic experience: Brutal beach to enjoy massively battling against the waves, my father not very compatible with small children. Watch out for an impressive dune landscape and a nudist area.
Positive experience: Beautiful scenery and beach, to enjoy
Positive experience: The beach is very nice, but the access to the beaches involves quite long stairs, so if you have mobility issues, I'm not sure if there is another way to get to the beach.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach with great swimming conditions.
Fantastic experience: Near the dunes with many services, bars, and restaurants
Positive experience: English Beach in Maspalomas. Clean sand and mild water.
Positive experience: The beach is nice, full of restaurants, etc., around the sun loungers and umbrellas. Be careful, the beach is crowded because it is the main one.
Positive experience: Vast beach with views of the dunes. Overall, the area is lively with bars and shops, but the sea is not the best for swimming.
Fantastic experience: Nah, the best beach in Gran Canaria by far.
Negative experience: I'm going from Puerto Rico to Gran Canaria baby I don't know anything baby I am a tourist friend the warm weather whenever I call anonymous that doesn't change the mood we always arrive at the island and we are chill
Fantastic experience: Playa del Inglés in Gran Canaria is known for being one of the most popular and vibrant beaches on the island. Negative experience: My stay at this place has been disappointing. It has a good location and has the potential to be the ideal accommodation, but the cleanliness leaves much to be desired and the maintenance of the facilities is not good. There is zero care in cleaning. Everything is full of dust, the sheets and towels are very poorly washed, some should even be thrown away. The protector of my mattress had mold... Cleanliness. It is understandable that things get damaged over time and use, and misfortune can happen to a tenant.
Positive experience: Beach with a large expanse and a lot of shops, with many dining options. I particularly think it is more focused on foreign tourism.
Fantastic experience: A beautiful and extensive beach in a privileged location. We arrived on foot from the dunes walking from the viewpoint. Close to Kiosk n3. The area did not have large crowds unlike the northern part of the beach. Although there are rocky areas, it is not difficult to find a spot to lay down the towel and enjoy the sea and the views. A charming place.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach, looks neat.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful but always crowded beach
Fantastic experience: Ideal place to go on vacation in the summer. And at all times of the year.
Positive experience: A very popular spot, the beach is the most crowded but honestly there are prettier beaches to see.
Fantastic experience: Very nice beach, large and clean with restaurants and shops nearby.
Positive experience: Perfect, very beautiful and clean, 2 sunbeds and a parasol for 7.50 Eur per day. Small bar stocked with everything. With the dunes just a few meters away, it's a nice environment. A must-visit.
Fantastic experience: Wide sandy beach with a gentle ocean shore. Besides the long stretch of wild beach, there is a designated supervised area. You can fully enjoy the sun, waves, and water sports.
Fantastic experience: I visited recently and loved the waters and sand of this beach, I recommend it.
Fantastic experience: I loved it
Positive experience: Too much construction... they have overwhelmed it.
Fantastic experience: Spectacular beach that rivals Maspalomas beach. Surrounded by dunes. A very beautiful landscape. Perfect for a long walk.
Fantastic experience: A huge and well-maintained beach. It can be windy at times, especially after 4:00 PM. There is always space available and there is a large paid parking lot right at the entrance to the beach.
Fantastic experience: I love walking for miles along the beach
Fantastic experience: Super beach, but the sellers become a bit annoying after a while, although they are not very pushy. The beach is clean and the water is wavy. I have to say it's a nice beach.
Positive experience: A very long beach equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas in some places at very affordable prices: €2.5 for the sunbed + €3 for the umbrella and €2 for the second sunbed. The only downside: payment is made by card or phone, they do not accept cash. You can also find places to refresh yourself with bars located near the sunbeds, as well as 2 naturist beaches, one of which is gay-friendly.
Positive experience: Everything was perfect. Except for these people who stand around everywhere and bother people with some kind of lottery. They are worse than mosquitoes. Therefore: never again Canary Islands. The authorities there should do something about it. But probably they profit from it because as far as I know, these pests have been around forever.
Fantastic experience: Very easy access to the beach, good water temperature, fun waves, variety of places to get a drink.
Positive experience: Good waves and very nice places to eat with views. I didn't see Quevedo dancing around anywhere, but it wasn't necessary hehehe.
Fantastic experience: Positive experience, dunes very similar to those in the Sahara, light and very hot sand, it is possible to reach the beach by following recommended paths, at the end there is a wide and very long free beach, few private areas, adjacent to the beach there is a service area that allows anyone to eat and buy the desired products. Parking is paid, but if you have a little patience you can also find free areas.
Fantastic experience: 7.5 eur for 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella for the day. Clean beach, no crowds, pretty safe, good for families, individuals, couples. Wonderful in the morning when no one is around. Huge waves during the whole day, almost impossible to swim, but I spent my whole holiday here on this beach. Proximity to the small tourist district in the background. Supervised by red cross and police. No marine life around such as sea urchins or jellyfish. Endless walking space. Close to the watersports activities such as jet-ski, parasailing etc.
Fantastic experience: Simply beautiful...
Fantastic experience: Nice wide beach
Fantastic experience: Delightful to enjoy the sea, beautiful view of the mountains
Fantastic experience: Great beach. In my opinion, the best in Gran Canaria. The water is clear.
Positive experience: Despite the (bad) views I saw while landing, I am happy with the hotel I am staying at and the friendly service provided as of now (04.09.2022). At first, when I looked at the pictures, I expected a completely green island filled with trees, but I later realized that I had come to the middle of a desert. All the sides of the road were very dirty and neglected until I got to the hotel. However, when I arrived at the area with the hotels, the view completely changed. There are palm trees and green areas everywhere. Without the hotels, I think it would have been a completely desert island that has suffered from drought. I hope the authorities take measures to make the island a cleaner and more livable place. We tourists are not the only ones here. The local people also deserve a clean and orderly life. Best regards.
Positive experience: Many people and therefore quite a lot of hustle and bustle. The beach itself is very beautiful.
Positive experience: Yes, it's definitely worth seeing, but it's quite crowded, at least near the water.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach, the sunbeds and umbrellas are affordable at 7.50.
Fantastic experience: Nice, clean, wide beach. Lots of shops and restaurants.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful for walking, but not barefoot.
Fantastic experience: From the English beach, you can see the dunes of Maspalomas, a characteristic and spectacular landscape, worth visiting while respecting the environment.
Fantastic experience: We stayed 7 days at the Berverley Park Hotel and were very satisfied. It was clean, friendly, and we found it to be the best located. Europalace, Lucana Allsun, and Corona Roja have deficiencies in location, service, and rooms, as was reported by other guests. Those who want sunshine ☀️ all day and always great weather and swimming conditions should fly there. Good shopping options are available and are cheaper than in Germany, and at the Duty Free at the airport. It is worth visiting the highest mountain in Gran Canaria at 1947 m. We drove up there with a rental car, breathtaking landscape and view, it is definitely worth it.
Positive experience: Beach very beautiful, shallow entry. However, the waves have been very high on most days. Toilets are available and there is a small kiosk. Two sunbeds + umbrella are very affordable for €7.50. Occasionally, people walk by trying to sell you stuff and offer massages, but if you just don’t react, they quickly move on.
Positive experience: clean water and quiet beach
Fantastic experience: Good beach, with a long promenade, small shops, and bars.
Fantastic experience: Spectacular sandy beach next to the dunes
Fantastic experience: Incredible, I go whenever I can. I have always been in winter and it is a wonder.
Positive experience: It's a magical beach, but I found it a bit abandoned and all around it. It made me sad, and I hope it returns to its splendor soon.
Fantastic experience: Amazing beach with all the services and various shops and dining options.
Fantastic experience: Great sandy beach just behind the dunes. One of the best on the island!
Negative experience: It was super crowded and the prices at the restaurants are very expensive, and they speak to you in English before Spanish. If you are Spanish, there are many better and less crowded beaches. It is super difficult to find parking and the parking is very expensive.
Negative experience: Total lack of public services. There are no bathrooms, neglect in the maintenance of the site,… it seems that since people keep coming, it isn't worth spending to provide services.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful beach, highly recommended to visit. There are plenty of walking areas, it is calm and gorgeous.
Fantastic experience: Spectacular beach, although to get to the sand you have to go down more than a hundred steps and then go up just as many from the beach... exhausting
Positive experience: Nice beach, fairly clean, good bit of water, but do not go at night if you aren't prepared for big crowds, harassment by 'local merchants with good price for you' and to be invited in a drink in an overly loud bar 6-7 times after you'd already said no, Still a good beach during the day and something to see at night lmao 7/10
Fantastic experience: The best beach in Gran Canaria, incredibly long and right next to its dunes, a true paradise, and very easy to park in its parking lot.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach, with calm water that is quite shallow, it also has hammocks and umbrellas for rent, to rent them you sit down and a person charges you €7.5 for two hammocks and an umbrella for the whole day. The downside is that you can only pay with a card.
Fantastic experience: It's a very beautiful and well-organized beach. I like it a lot️.
Positive experience: It is a very large beach, with all the amenities and attractions. Showers at all exits, restaurants, bars, rentals of loungers and umbrellas, jet skis, etc. The water is cold but you get used to it quickly. There are strong waves. When it's windy, a lot of sand gets blown around. The sand is fine and brown. Accessible.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful clean beach with many loungers and umbrellas and a very low cost of €7.50 for the whole day, some lovely restaurants and shops, but they are a bit more expensive than in the city. The sea is very shallow for about 20 meters, but be careful of the strong high waves if you go further out, overall it is a very nice place to spend the day.
Fantastic experience: A very nice place and it's good for having a drink with family or friends at night, there is atmosphere and several places to have dinner or snack where the square with the big Maspalomas letters is. It's fine, but they should change the flags; they look very bad.
Fantastic experience: Very good
Fantastic experience: Best place... You have to be there!
Fantastic experience: Very nice, large beach. 10/10
Fantastic experience: Great beach with a lot of waves. Lovely to walk along the beach. There are also plenty of restaurants along the way.
Positive experience: But it has aged a bit, it feels more like small Mallorca, you can only drink beautifully.
Negative experience: ❗Beach and sea waters contaminated by feces and cigarette butts❗No wastewater treatment plant for the feces and waste water from surrounding hotels and other facilities in Maspalomas, -they are channeled into the pipes and into the sea❓❓ Due to the lack of toilets, people are defecating EVERYWHERE between the hills. Urine is on every sand area, and then people unknowingly lie down on it. The city administration cares little about this.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful beach, but please enter with sandals as it is very hot. You can take off your shoes by the water and walk barefoot. Always remember to apply sunscreen, otherwise you can get burned quickly, as you don't notice it much because of a slight wind. You can go quite far into the sea, but be careful, as there are quite a few waves.
Positive experience: Lovely by the beach, you can walk and shop. Plenty of food and drink stalls. The only downside with a stroller is having to lift it up and down the stairs.
Fantastic experience: One of the most beautiful beaches on the island, long and wide located by the Maspalomas dunes
Positive experience: Longest beach in Gran Canaria. We managed to find free parking on the street leading to the beach, about 400 m. Otherwise, there is paid parking near the beach. Showers are also available. There are many places around to stop for food, drinks, or shopping.
Fantastic experience: We spent a wonderful week here. There were enough loungers at what we found to be a very fair price of €7.50 (one umbrella and two loungers). Affordable even with a card!
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach on a beautiful island. And coming from an island that has a stony beach, a sandy beach is bliss! Sun loungers 7.50 euros. June '24
Fantastic experience: Wonderful, wide beach with very pleasant fine sand. The descent to the ocean is gentle and, most importantly, free of stones. Larger waves often appear here, which is a great plus for surfers. There are plenty of interesting restaurants and souvenir shops around the beach.
Fantastic experience: Playa del Ingles, a beautiful beach transitioning into the dunes of Dunas de Maspalomas. Plenty of sunbeds with umbrellas, but there is also a huge amount of space to lay a towel on the sand. Next to it, there is a beautiful promenade and shops.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful to visit on holiday
Fantastic experience: It's a place to disconnect, I recommend having a picnic and bringing a little horn to listen to music.
