Positive experience: Considering the access, it's not worth making a special effort to come here because there's nothing new beyond other views. The view of the rock tunnel is poor and you can't approach it.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful natural spot where previously the American Star ship wrecked. Nowadays there is nothing more to see from the ship. To reach this place, the road is very bumpy and I rather recommend to have 4x4 car. This place is worth a visit. Just couple of people, campers there. Very private.

Fantastic experience: Good beach for body boarding and a bit for surfing. Around 6km of dirt road but it's in good condition. You can park your car right in front of the water.

Positive experience: Next, we head to the west coast of the island to Playa de Garcey. The drive there is about 50 kilometers, the last 6 are unpaved. I wanted to see the remains of the sunken American Star, but unfortunately, there are no remains left. However, a trip to Playa de Garcey is beautiful anyway. The west coast is a bit wilder, which means there are hardly any tourists. So my detour to the west of the island will be a bit shorter; it’s better not to swim here due to the currents.

Fantastic experience: Quiet beach and empty of people. The boat is no longer there. Very good for spending the day, but very dangerous for swimming.

Fantastic experience: Nice beach. Access only by car. Strong tide and not very accessible for swimming, more for surfing.

Fantastic experience: The place is beautiful, but there's practically nothing left of the ship. Only a rusty mast is visible, and that's at very low tide.

Fantastic experience: You need to drive 8 km on a dirt road, a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. There are sections where the road is of quite poor quality, but it's worth seeing, especially because of the historical wreck of the SS American Star. You can still find a piece or two washed ashore. Perfect for collectors as a gift. The shipwreck is only visible at low tide. The beach area is wonderful, although it's unsuitable for swimming due to the waves. It's perfect for rock climbing and there are also small caves.

Negative experience: We went to Garcey beach to see the SS boat. When we arrived, it wasn't there; we thought it was a matter of the tide, but it turns out it has completely sunk. It can no longer be seen. To get there, we went in an off-road vehicle. It's a dirt road in bad condition (35-40 minutes from the main road to the beach).

Positive experience: The shipwreck sunk somewhere last winter we think so all that’s left is a small iron box sticking out at low tide. Never the less the beach is amazing and one beach to the right (it’s a climb or 3 min car ride) there is a beautiful arch.

Fantastic experience: The beach is truly beautiful and pristine, with breathtaking sunsets that enchant visitors. The clean surroundings create a relaxed atmosphere. It would be fantastic if visitors could feel encouraged to preserve a little piece of paradise by taking away the washed-up trash. Every contribution helps to maintain the beauty of this place and to preserve it for future generations.

Positive experience: In 1994, the ship American Star ran aground on this beach. When they attempted to recover it, it broke in two and was declared a total loss. It was looted and there were several fatalities due to the bad sea conditions. Little by little, it sank. In 2007, it completely disappeared. There is not a trace of it left.

Fantastic experience: Very steep incline on the way back from the beach. Some cars get stuck and have a hard time getting out.

Fantastic experience: Small secluded beach with a lovely sunset. It can be reached via an 8 km dirt path. As for the shipwrecked boat on the rocks, there is nothing left. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach in the middle of nowhere. It is accessed via a path, but it is quite good for any vehicle. There are usually some camper vans camping there, and the views are amazing with some incredible rock formations. There's even a cave that goes through to another beach.

Positive experience: The American Star is hardly visible anymore, yet it's a lovely little beach.

Negative experience: Infested with flies, we had to leave.

Positive experience: What it really has is the cave, since the beach is too rocky to bathe peacefully. It's beautiful, but you have to travel too far compared to other similar ones we found on the island.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful place to watch the sunset, much better if you have a 4x4. If not (as was my case), it takes twice as long to get there (but you still get there).

Fantastic experience: The beach is very beautiful, but to reach it you have to travel 10 km of dirt road, it's not necessary to have a 4x4 car. You can find surfers there, but the shipwreck is no longer there. The cave is also very nice, but you have to come in the morning when there's low tide. The sea is very clean, but there are no public services, so bring something to drink and an umbrella and enjoy the show.

Positive experience: Recommended place, for its tranquility and landscape

Fantastic experience: Wide, quiet and remote beach of Fuerteventura, really amazing! The road to get there is not too demanding, despite the fact that there is a bit of dirt road (quietly surmountable with any car). In addition, here you can catch a glimpse of the tip of a ship sunk several years ago, not even too far from the coast. I highly recommend!

Positive experience: I was a kid when we were on this ship on a cruise around the word back in the 60's. I remember the cabins, I remember the party as we pulled into Sydney, a big cake shaped like the ship. Great memories. I want to dive on the wreck before its gone forever.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful unspoilt shingle beach with marvellous cliffs and caves. Wonderful fish and crabs in rock pool s. Very small amount of the shipwrecked SS America still visible at low tide

Positive experience: IMPORTANT: If you go there to see the ship wreck you can skip it, it's not there anymore, it sunk completely. Great place for surfing, the waves are impressive there. However, make sure you have a car which can handle quite a bad road (8 km without asphalt, only rocks and some sand). Not really worth it if you aren't a surfer.

Positive experience: ! Be aware, there is NO ship wrack visible anymore (04/2022) ! It's gone with the wind and the waves. Disappointing, as we didn't know that. Apart from that, a dreamlike and almost untouched nature that makes you feel tiny.

Fantastic experience: Great wild beach off the beaten track

Positive experience: Great beach, unfortunately in the summer months this is filled with locals with gypsy like campsites, who make outsiders feel unwelcome. The rest of the year it's incredible.
