Positive experience: Large sandy beach with a gentle slope and calm water. Ideal place for diving. It is quiet and peaceful, but rather quite a few people. At the entrance to the beach, there is a shower, and you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas. Parking is easy on the large parking lot right by the beach. There are also cafes and a shop nearby.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach with a good bay for snorkeling. You can encounter many things here, from small fish to turtles.

Fantastic experience: Nice quiet beach where you can snorkel beautifully by yourself. There was quite a bit of wind. But for 3 euros you can rent a sunbed, possibly with an umbrella for €6. Parking for now has enough space. We also had a nice lunch beforehand. So snorkel along and snorkel by yourself. It seems that you can also see turtles here. I didn't encounter them, so I decided to join a snorkeling trip here in the same bay. Snorkeled with snorkeling Tenerife excursions.

Fantastic experience: The beach itself isn't super pretty, but there are a lot of fish and crabs to observe, so I recommend you bring goggles. There are restaurants nearby but they have only a few tables so it's not easy to get one during dinner time. There's a big car park, so you shouldn't have a problem finding a free spot.

Fantastic experience: For me, one of the most beautiful beaches. Never too crowded and very clean, and I love the black sand. You can rent a sunbed and an umbrella for a small fee. Toilets and showers are available. Sometimes a bit windy; if that bothers someone, it could quickly become too much. For me, it's not a problem. There are plenty of free parking spaces available. Above the beach, there is a small supermarket and some restaurants.

Vicente Hernández Padilla 5 years ago

Positive experience: The Playa De Los Abriguitos in Tenerife is a quiet, secluded beach with black volcanic sand and clear water. Surrounded by impressive nature and rocks, it offers plenty of space to relax. There are only a few facilities, which preserves its natural charm, and a small kiosk provides visitors with snacks and drinks. While there are no fish and the conditions for snorkeling are not ideal, this beach is perfect for a relaxing day away from the hustle and bustle!

Positive experience: It's okay. The sand, when windy, blows all your towels, but you can hide beneath two cliffs. There is also a road to neighbor beach on the north side, although there a lot of kids were playing. Water entrance is good enough for kids and not too shallow for adults. You can snorkel around the edge of the ocean to the south, finding a bit of marine life. There is only one small open passage between rocks at 6m to freedive to, but nothing fancy. Water was calmer here than in the north of Tenerife.

. The Abades Leper Hospital On the east coast of Tenerife, in the locality of Abades in the municipality of Arico it is possible to visit the ruins of the "Leper hospital". It is a complex of many buildings scattered on a very large surface built in 1943 but never came into operation, at least as a leper colony, to be used later for military training. Very special and mysterious the movie atmosphere that you breathe in this "abandoned village", great scenery for a photo report or even just for a visit with an unusual flavor. . Positive experience: Great place to visit if you've got transport as it's a little way from the main tourist attractions. It's good for diving and has a few diving centres, quite a nice beach area to walk along and some nice little bars. It's well known for its derelict church building and its outbuildings, it was built many years ago as a leper colony but was never used as such. Great for photo enthusiasts theres lots of different genre in this area to get some fab photos, easy to access it's a different place to visit if your holidaying in Tenerife

Fantastic experience: Nice beach to go and throw some firecrackers and a couple of fireworks at 'Los leprosos'. The downside is the wind, which tends to be quite strong. My 5 stars are because you don't usually come across either street performers or hippies with dogs making a nuisance. Very good.

Fantastic experience: A beautiful beach with almost yellow sand, maybe more gray, a calm, uncrowded bay. You can rent a sunbed with a umbrella for 6 euros. There are shops and restaurants where you can buy something or eat at quite affordable prices. The beach itself is great, I definitely recommend it; it's not a typical city beach, locals come here, the beach is not crowded, ideal for snorkeling. You can see interesting fish, schools of fish, or a mini reef; unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to see turtles, and I snorkeled there 3 times.

Positive experience: A trendy beach among many others... This is one of the popular swimming locations in the area. It is so trendy it is used to make movies, as on October 19th, 2022: the place was invaded by a crew + actors, and access was restricted due to some movie making activities (pics attached). If you are not too much into swimming, it is within walking distance of the ruins of the sanatorium.

Fantastic experience: Great beach, ideal for snorkeling on days that are not windy. Avoid on weekends when the people from the North come, it is hard to find parking in this little quiet town on weekends.

Fantastic experience: One of the best beaches of Tenerife, if you're into snorkeling make sure you check it out. Easy parking right by the beach itself, then you can walk along the beach into the rocky area and go check the fish. The reef is teeming w life... wrasse, damsel fishes, lizard fishes, and a lot of them, so get your gopro ready. Watch out for the waves and pick a low wind day. We went in September and it was calm enough, but I assume that during the high season it might be a bit hectic here.

Fantastic experience: We took a snorkeling tour at playa de Abades. The reefs are very fun to snorkel and the beach is very quiet and nice. Cute shops and restaurants are right there by the beach and it felt a bit like Greece with the small white buildings. Locals told us to watch out for pickpocketers as it’s apparently an issue. However, we didn’t have any problems with our belongings getting stolen. Make sure to take the trek up to see the Ghost town. I wish we would have went on foot from the beach. We tried to drive to it but those roads are more for ATVs or bikes and not for regular cars. Definitely worth the trip though!

One can admire rose-coloured rocks constantly washed by waves colliding on them or swim to the black rocks to a meeting with local crabs. A mysterious abandoned church can be seen on a hill further inland, which gives the beach a somewhat post-apocalyptic feel. A true gem for lovers of natural beaches.
