Information

Playa de la Aldea is a charming local beach nestled in the picturesque landscape of Gran Canaria, surrounded by mountains and cliffs. It is known for its clean waters and tranquility, making it a perfect spot for relaxation away from crowded tourist areas.

Key features:

  • Snorkeling Opportunities: The waters are teeming with marine life, although beachgoers should be mindful of the strong winds that can bring debris to the area.
  • Facilities: The beach offers wooden sunbeds for comfort, nearby restaurants serving local cuisine, and picnic spots, providing a relaxed atmosphere.
  • Natural Beauty: The breathtaking views and stunning sunsets make this beach an ideal backdrop for photography and leisure.
  • Local Charm: The beach is primarily used by locals, which adds to its authentic charm.

However, visitors should be prepared for:

  • Rocky Terrain: The beach consists mainly of pebbles and stones, making it less convenient for swimming and access to the water.
  • Limited Amenities: While the area has some restaurants and facilities, they can be limited during off-peak times.
  • Traffic Challanges: The roads leading to the beach can be winding and narrow, requiring cautious driving.

Overall, Playa de la Aldea is a hidden gem offering a mix of natural beauty and local culture, perfect for those seeking a peaceful coastal escape.

Positive experience: Stone beach, quite large and secluded. Access could be improved and parking can be a bit tricky.

Positive experience: Free parking both on the street and underneath, no beach just big pebbles, but if you are lucky there are some very nice wooden walkways. Then you go through a small tunnel and there's a small beach, usually very crowded. To get there from Maspalomas or the south of the island, the road is a breathtaking adventure with curves and it's very narrow in many sections with no protection, so be careful.

Positive experience: It is very small and difficult to navigate. To the point that there are wooden platforms to lie down. It is accessed through a tunnel. It is highly appreciated by the locals. The way to get there is long and winding if you come (as was my case) from Mogán.

Fantastic experience: The harbour provides a great spot for a dip with steps straight into the water, there was free parking nearby, it was a great place to stop for an hour or two. It was fairly quiet on a Monday afternoon in May with lots of locals about having a swim.

Fantastic experience: If you can't find parking in a legal area, get out of there. Fines at will.

Fantastic experience: We often go to Aldea beach (stones). We go for walks, enjoy the tranquility, the sea, and eat and drink in one of the 3 restaurants. Always a lovely trip. Thumbs up.

Positive experience: The views are nice but I wouldn't swim there, I think the waves would take me away. It's rocky.

Positive experience: The landscape is undeniably spectacular, but the large rocks in the water do not invite diving when the sea is more agitated. It could be better utilized in another way, it has many qualities to be taken into account.

Positive experience: We stopped by Aldea as a stopover on the trip we made between Galdar and Puerto de Mogan. What a picturesque and charming little place with a few nice restaurants. I am sure this place will have grown significantly in a few years.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach surrounded by the cliffs, some restaurants around, beach has mostly rocks not easy accessible, didn't feel safe to go to water as no sand, only giant rocks

Fantastic experience: A peaceful corner, with a wide range of Canarian cuisine. Far from the crowds, crystal clear waters, and a place of rest rather than posturing. Special mention to the lifeguard from Granada who watched over our safety.

Negative experience: SAILORS! WARNING FOR THIEVES! ⚠️ We were here on Dec 24 with our sailing boat, super cute small fishing town. BUT one night our dinghy got stolen from our boat!! BE AWARE! Do not have your dinghy in the water at night when you’re here.

Positive experience: Very beautiful to look at, but to swim... I doubt it because of the dirty water waterfall it has.

Fantastic experience: Very cute little place with great picnic options, but also dining. The shop on the main street has absolutely fair prices and even ice cream in a cone AND on a stick/ice pop. There are 3 beaches; the official ones where sunbathing options have been created through wooden structures on the stony beach or through the tunnel, allowing for setting up a sun umbrella. And one beach further left, at the end of the bridge, however, it is unguarded and since it is already outside the harbor, it is also noticeably rougher.

Positive experience: A very cozy beach. Super interesting for snorkeling because you can see everything. It is true that due to the strong winds in the area, trash ends up in the sea, which is a shame. Keep in mind that the wind here is very strong almost all the time.

Fantastic experience: Very nice how they have left the beach promenade and the remodeling of its surroundings. Now it's necessary for people to respect and appreciate them to enjoy them as much as possible. Unfortunately, on the handrail of the bridge, loose wires were already noticeable from trying to steal/break the LEDs.

Fantastic experience: The village and beach area could improve, it is the same as it was 50 years ago, there is not a good transport service, the beach area on weekends has hardly anything open, they should improve the service a bit, since tourists come and it would be great to reform some areas, the area is great and I like to go there, the thing is that they should already do it, as it is time! Make a big change at all levels.
