Cure Beach
Information
Playa del Cura is a charming and tranquil beach located in a small village surrounded by a few hotels and restaurants. Visitors appreciate its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful scenery, often highlighted by stunning sunsets. The beach features a lifeguard, making it family-friendly, and although it’s not overly crowded, it can fill up quickly on weekends.
However, some guests noted that the area could use better maintenance, and while there are some amenities nearby, options for dining are limited. The beach is described as having fine black sand, which some find appealing, though there are mixed reviews about cleanliness and water quality due to nearby resorts and occasional seaweed.
Key Highlights:
- Small, tranquil beach ideal for families.
- Good access to local supermarkets and restaurants.
- Beautiful sunsets and a peaceful environment.
Areas for Improvement:
- Maintenance and cleanliness of the beach area.
- Limited dining options near the beach.
- Can be crowded during weekends.

Positive experience: In comparison to the neighboring beaches of Amadores and Tauro, this one is dull. Greyish, rocky on the right side, and giving the impression of neglect. We didn't even go down to it, we chose to walk along the beach on the adjacent promenade.
Negative experience: Saturated, there is hardly any parking and the area is not the right place to disconnect.
Fantastic experience: Very quiet beach, with excellent access, suitable for both adults and children. The sand is very beautiful and black.
Positive experience: Fantastic beach. We stayed at the O.C.B with direct access to the beach. It never seemed full. The sand was amazing. The water was amazing. A little to much waves for my youngest. But overall a beautiful beach. Near perfect.
Fantastic experience: Un descubrimiento. Una playita muy bonita y limpia en Gran Canaria y posible aparcar cerca en agosto

Positive experience: Good sandy beach
Fantastic experience: Quite a nice little beach. Enjoyed a few days down on the sand and swimming in the sea. Not much else here, just a little Spar if you want something to eat or drink.
Fantastic experience: Very quiet beach, with excellent access, suitable for both adults and children. The sand is very beautiful and black.
Positive experience: Beautiful 'wild' sandy beach with only a few people around. Unfortunately, there are no toilets nearby. Great for snorkeling, there are many fish and crabs to see, best seen in the nearby cave which can be easily accessed from the water.

Positive experience: Compared to the other busy resorts, this smaller beach is quite nice. There are hotel guests, but they are also at their own pool. There are no beach chairs or umbrellas, i.e., the beach itself is not operated, so there is always space for your towel. On the east side, beyond the few rocks, there is another nice small beach. On weekends, there are more locals who come to enjoy, but it remains relatively calm compared to the mass tourism beaches. In Playa de Cura, you have a commercial center with a Spar, a bar, and a few restaurants, so everything you need. If you want to walk, go check out the Barranco. From the beach, after 3 km, you arrive at a quiet cave. By the way, we stayed in a finca in the Barranco.
Fantastic experience: Small but nice. Nice restaurants: Jardin de Joaquim, Pizzeria Jardin, El Torro Steak House all highly recommended in and around the Commercial Center. After dinner, live music at the 19th Tee with Carlos. Two beaches to choose from. Tauro Beach is just a few meters away from Playa del Cura. Since Vista Mar (Tauro Beach) reopened, there are delicious tapas and cold drinks back at the beach! We have been happily returning to our 'second' home every winter for 10 years.
Positive experience: A lovely and cozy place with restaurants and supermarkets, and just 10-15 minutes into Puerto Rico.
Positive experience: Small village with a few restaurants and one SPAR shopping mall. The sea nearby a few hotels. Other hotels locate more uphill. Nice & peaceful place. With the local bus, you may visit the nearby villages such as Amadores, Puerto Rico or Puerto de Mogan.
Positive experience: Lovely beach, the sand is black. The sea is great, but note the sea shore drops away quite sharply and the current can be strong. There are no beach front cafes or bars as thr bay is lined with large resorts. It's only a few minutes walk to the nearest restaurant or bar.

Fantastic experience: Quiet beach, with a lifeguard and mainly visited by locals from the Canary Islands.
Fantastic experience: Quiet beach with dark sand. There is a bit of waves but it's fine for kids to jump and play making sandcastles. There is a lifeguard. Next to it, there is a Spar. And there are sunbeds for rent as well.
Negative experience: Sucia, socorrista más preocupado en las hamacas que en lo suyo, ,DA PENA

Positive experience: We only saw the beach from the boat. The water was clean and clear, the beach looked good too.
Positive experience: Small beach, ideal for going with children. It is a quiet tourist area, unlike the crowded nearby beaches. The cleanliness and rehabilitation of the avenue and beach services could be improved.

Positive experience: There is a landfill nearby and sometimes it smells strong
Fantastic experience: Beautiful view
Negative experience: Beach full of stones and debris...
Negative experience: We’ve visited this beach approximately at 17:30 on Sunday during high tide and the sea was full of garbage. From plastic things to a sock. Yes, a sock. The beach itself was very nice. Due to only one visit we can’t compare with morning or other days. However, we did not want to swim in it at all.
Fantastic experience: Small but nice. Nice restaurants: Jardin de Joaquim, Pizzeria Jardin, El Torro Steak House all highly recommended in and around the Commercial Center. Fantastic experience: The ideal place and the host is a super friendly and professional person, very attentive and takes great care of the apartment, which is well maintained and has everything you need. Perfect.
Fantastic experience: Quiet beach, with a lifeguard and mainly visited by locals from the Canary Islands.
Positive experience: A lovely and cozy place with restaurants and supermarkets, and just 10-15 minutes into Puerto Rico.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful beach although the resorts are next to it.
Positive experience: Good sandy beach
Positive experience: Quiet place, not much to do. Mostly hotels, there are a few restaurants.. ok food but nothing more. There is a shop and a spa. A bit dry and boring town but a small strip of beach. For those who mostly want to stay at the hotel, you can walk to Puerto Rico after the beach or take a taxi/bus, there is a bit more to do there.
Positive experience: Beautiful beach but somehow a lot of water plants
Fantastic experience: Calm nice beach
Fantastic experience: Spectacular place to visit
Positive experience: Great upcoming place and peaceful too.
Fantastic experience: Few tourists, atmospheric and intimate, without services - only nature
Positive experience: We only saw the beach from the boat. The water was clean and clear, the beach looked good too.
Fantastic experience: I loved the beach, not many people and super calm
Fantastic experience: I swim every day at 8:15 AM in the ocean. Wonderful place in winter.
Positive experience: In comparison to the neighboring beaches of Amadores and Tauro, this one is dull. Greyish, rocky on the right side, and giving the impression of neglect. We didn't even go down to it, we chose to walk along the beach on the adjacent promenade.
Fantastic experience: Quite a nice little beach. Enjoyed a few days down on the sand and swimming in the sea. Not much else here, just a little Spar if you want something to eat or drink.
Fantastic experience: November sunshine is lovely jubbly and the hotel food top notch. Peace and tranquillity, the place to be ⛱️ Hotel staff and workers all helpful and kind.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach at a lovely bay. Well located and very quiet. Supermarket 150 m away.
Negative experience: Saturated, there is hardly any parking and the area is not the right place to disconnect.
Positive experience: Cozy little hotel with a small charming center.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful and relaxing here!
Positive experience: For those unfamiliar with the area: on the rocks to the left (facing the sea) there are some gigantic crabs. Definitely worth a visit.

Fantastic experience: Very beautiful beach, the waves are strong but you can still swim.
Positive experience: Good beach, not so popular but nice
Fantastic experience: Nice and quiet resort.
Fantastic experience: It has its charm. I liked it.
Negative experience: A place for old English fatty zombies liking 'caraoke' noise and smell of greasy barbecue. To be omitted by normal tourists looking for relax and sun.
Positive experience: Small beach, ideal for going with children. It is a quiet tourist area, unlike the crowded nearby beaches. The cleanliness and rehabilitation of the avenue and beach services could be improved.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful place
Positive experience: Beautiful 'wild' sandy beach with only a few people around. Unfortunately, there are no toilets nearby. Great for snorkeling, there are many fish and crabs to see, best seen in the nearby cave which can be easily accessed from the water.
Fantastic experience: Unbuilt barriers for the water provide good replacement and fresh water.
Positive experience: A small but cozy beach, no shops or anything.
Fantastic experience: Always beautiful
Fantastic experience: Quiet beach with dark sand. There is a bit of waves but it's fine for kids to jump and play making sandcastles. There is a lifeguard. Next to it, there is a Spar. And there are sunbeds for rent as well.
Fantastic experience: Charming dark sand beach with a lot of charm, a quiet place after 6 PM, the best time for a relaxing swim.
Negative experience: Not the greatest place, grey sand, not many amenities near. Good thing is that Amadores is very close so you can switch if you don't like it. Not worth visiting with all the other beaches on the island.
Fantastic experience: The beach is marvelous Great waves Nice and peaceful except for Sundays when there is a busy and lively vibe
Positive experience: Nice quiet beach generally. If you sit at the back wall on the beach you'll find that elder couples love to walk by you within a few centimetres despite having the rest of the beach to use. What is it with older people!?
Positive experience: Fantastic beach. We stayed at the O.C.B with direct access to the beach. It never seemed full. The sand was amazing. The water was amazing. A little to much waves for my youngest. But overall a beautiful beach. Near perfect.
Positive experience: Lovely place if you are in the hotel.beqch is not brilliant and nothing to do outside of the hotel
Positive experience: Lovely beach, the sand is black. The sea is great, but note the sea shore drops away quite sharply and the current can be strong. There are no beach front cafes or bars as thr bay is lined with large resorts. It's only a few minutes walk to the nearest restaurant or bar.
Fantastic experience: A relaxed beach away from the busy tourist infrastructure, our favourite beach during our stay in Playa de Mogán
Fantastic experience: Great place in Gran Canaria! The Ocean Beach Club Hotel was exquisite. There are few restaurants and SPAR supermarket. The beach is also nice. By walking distance you reach Amadores Beach. There are also buses frequently to Las Palmas, the Airport, Maspalomas, Puerto de Mogan etc.
Positive experience: Great beach in the south of Gran Canaria island;nearby Taurito's beach and Melenara
Positive experience: Rock secluded beach with no amenities
Fantastic experience: A paradise where I will always return with joy! ♀️⛱️
Fantastic experience: A lovely place to visit for a bit of winter sun
Fantastic experience: Stayed in Playa del Cura and found the area, beach and facilities great.
Positive experience: Very nice, sandy but small beach. You can rent sunbeds and umbrella here. Two sunbeds and an umbrella cost 10 euro for the whole day. Very nice place to swim but a little rocky so swimmingshoes may be required. A lot of sport activities around.
Negative experience: Too many stones in the water.
Fantastic experience: Great place for a laid back and relaxed break, short walk to Tauro beach too
Fantastic experience: One of the best little places on Gran Canaria. Two beaches, one grey sand, the other white sand. Great views, no clubs! Very quiet. Just a couple of restaurants and a Spar supermarket. I’d highly recommend renting an apartment here. Easy buses all over the island. Simple. There is a special microclimate here that’s even better than Playa del Ingles.
