Oyambre Beach
Information
The Oyambre Beach is a spectacular natural paradise located within the Oyambre Natural Park. This expansive beach features fine sand and dunes, making it ideal for sunbathing and relaxing. Visitors rave about its magnificent scenery and the vast space it offers, which can accommodate both families and surfers.
Some highlights of Oyambre Beach include:
- Stunning Landscape: The beach is surrounded by beautiful cliffs and has breathtaking views, perfect for walking and enjoying the sunset.
- Surfing: The beach is popular with surfers due to its sizable waves and good surf schools nearby.
- Cleanliness: The beach is generally well-maintained and offers a clean environment.
- Accessibility: There's available parking nearby, though it can be small and fills up quickly during peak seasons.
However, some users noted areas for improvement:
- Facilities: There is a lack of showers, trash bins, and restrooms.
- Overcrowding: The beach can get crowded, particularly on weekends, which can make it difficult to find a quiet spot.
- Dog Policy: While dogs are allowed in certain areas, there are complaints about irresponsible owners not following the rules, leading to issues with waste on the beach.
Overall, Oyambre Beach is highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy the sun, sea, and a bit of surf, as long as you're prepared for some crowds and minor inconveniences.

Positive experience: Impressive beach with dunes and very wide views. Very long and wide beach, shared between surfers and bathers in good harmony. Also for ball games in the afternoon. Small free parking, but there is a parking area next door where you can park all day for €3 with surveillance. Area with many campings, golf course. Bar and restaurant-type chiringuito very well located. Highly recommended. We will return.
Fantastic experience: Spectacular beach. There is a paid parking (3€) but it's worth it because it is right by the beach. Dogs are allowed.
Negative experience: There are not enough showers, bins, and bathrooms. The access to the beach should be more accessible; anyone could fall. I won't come back.
Negative experience: Wide beach but always full of people and surfers. There is no way to find a spot to swim without risking a collision with a board. The worst thing is that they don't leave space even among themselves, which also bothers one surf club with another. Too overexploited. By the way, dogs are not allowed.
Negative experience: Paying for parking - ok. But the path to the beach is awful. The beach itself is so overcrowded and the waves make it too dangerous to swim.

Negative experience: It's a spectacular beach, enoooorme, just as huge as the sign that prohibits dogs under a fine of €750. That's human selfishness. I'm very disappointed because not even 100 meters of that wonderful beach is shared with pets. Dog owners also travel, we also spend money, and we have rights; we should be welcomed and not looked down upon for bringing a little dog, who will neither bother nor dirty (because we are very, very civic, more than others without dogs). It's good to share when nowadays, in thousands of homes, there are pets instead of children.
Fantastic experience: It's very nice, but the downside is that being so big, there isn't an area for dogs.

Negative experience: The worst beach I have ever been to. It was full of dog poop, garbage, and rotting seaweed. I had a terrible day. I wouldn't go back even if they paid me.

Fantastic experience: If you step on its sand, you'll surely come back; it captivates with its beauty, tranquility, and peace, a 2 km beach where you can stroll from end to end without suffering from overcrowding, with compact golden sand. Moreover, if you like to travel with your dog, you won't have any problem being with it; in fact, you'll find more than one there, but with enough space not to disturb those who don't want to be with them, a perfect coexistence of both. It's a paradise to enjoy.
Fantastic experience: To take incredible walks. Fine and clear sand. Very clean and with a very healthy surfing atmosphere. The sunset from Gerra (meadows on high) is SPECTACULAR.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful. I don't know any beach in Cantabria that is not a marvel or has some special charm: sand, services, geology, landscape, water, etc.
Positive experience: Wide sandy beach, we loved seeing the horses galloping freely around, there is an outdoor parking and access to the beach by a well-maintained wooden path. The beach is surrounded by cliffs and is not overcrowded (we were there in July). However, services are scarce, just there to enjoy nature.
Fantastic experience: Huge and beautiful beach. About 3 km long, very flat, fine sand, beautiful views on both sides, well-maintained, clean, and with relatively ample parking. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

Fantastic experience: Spectacular beach. Prairie House restaurant. Spectacular.

Fantastic experience: Amazing beach, clean, big, waves, surf school, restaurant...natural park, can't ask for more...well, maybe if the water were a bit warmer...but then it wouldn't be the same...

No volveremos.
Positive experience: Muy bonita playa.

Fantastic experience: Spectacular. With quite a bit of wind and waves, it is very frequented by surfers. Red flags are not uncommon, although in general it is a safe beach for swimming. It tends to get crowded in summer.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful beach... what a stretch!!!

Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach...
Fantastic experience: A beach like most of those you can see in Cantabria, there are more spectacular ones but this one is beautiful too. I recommend visiting it.
Negative experience: We didn't make it to the beach. Overcrowded as if it were Benidorm in August and it was a weekday in September. Incredible... We wanted to see where the first transoceanic flight landed and we had to imagine it.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful, nothing more is needed, just to see it.
Fantastic experience: When I went, it was clean and well maintained, not many people but good sun.

Fantastic experience: A beach you never want to leave, in love.
Fantastic experience: Very spacious beach, in the summer months it has a large influx but it is not overwhelming. Moderate waves
Fantastic experience: WONDERFUL
Fantastic experience: Fabulous beach
Fantastic experience: Idyllic and endless, very close to Mirador de Trasvia, the best wild seabass and bonito pie in a window with views of Oyambre beach

Fantastic experience: What to say about a natural park... spectacular
Negative experience: Paying for parking - ok. But the path to the beach is awful. The beach itself is so overcrowded and the waves make it too dangerous to swim.
Positive experience: It's a spectacular beach. The only problem year after year is those lines at the showers, caused by the surfers who go to wash their boards, a rinse for the wetsuits, I can understand, but that waste of water comes from pressing the button to keep it spotless and they continue with the boards in a reckless manner, someone had to control it and they need to get it checked.
Fantastic experience: The beach was quite uncrowded. We parked well. The weather was bad, but the beach is very nice.
Fantastic experience: Great beach for sunbathing. It's also good for surfing depending on the conditions.
Fantastic experience: A magnificent beach is so spacious that even on weekends you can enjoy a peaceful time.
Fantastic experience: It is a huge beach. The parking area is very small but there is a private parking lot next to it.
Fantastic experience: To take incredible walks. Fine and clear sand. Very clean and with a very healthy surfing atmosphere. The sunset from Gerra (meadows on high) is SPECTACULAR.
Negative experience: Today, July 22, 2024, yellow lines have been painted around Villa Sofía, preventing 5-8 cars from parking for free. Congratulations, it is officially a PAY BEACH now. Tourists can stick it where the sun doesn't shine.
Fantastic experience: Amazing beach, clean, big, waves, surf school, restaurant...natural park, can't ask for more...well, maybe if the water were a bit warmer...but then it wouldn't be the same...
Fantastic experience: Spectacular. Nature in a state, almost, pure.
Negative experience: The worst beach I have ever been to. It was full of dog poop, garbage, and rotting seaweed. I had a terrible day. I wouldn't go back even if they paid me.
Fantastic experience: Amazing beach to disconnect, walking with your dog is fascinating... whenever I can, I escape there.
Positive experience: Good for taking your pet for a run
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful beach
Fantastic experience: Beautiful, quiet, huge.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful beach to go with dogs
Fantastic experience: I can only confirm all the positive reports. Even as a non-server, a very very beautiful place and even on weekends, a nearly empty beach. The water is still relatively warm and super clear. Parking spaces are of course still scarce.
Fantastic experience: Spectacular
Fantastic experience: A wonderful place
Positive experience: Beware of the wake from the water
Fantastic experience: Magnificent, clean, and immense. Good atmosphere.
Negative experience: Although dogs are not allowed, the beach is full of loose dogs and their little gifts.
Positive experience: Very nice surf beach... With gently broken swell, great for beginners.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach, with pleasant waves and fresh water to enjoy and relax.
Positive experience: It's a wonderful beach in every way, except that there are so many dogs because their disrespectful owners ignore the signs indicating the dog prohibition. This has become a problem to the point that I know many people who don’t want to go to that beach because of the number of dogs present. The dogs are off-leash, leading to issues such as dog fights, scares to people, feces, etc. On the other hand, the authorities show no interest in controlling this problem and neglect their duties.
Positive experience: Beautiful beach if it weren't for several things. First, there are still people who care more about their pets than their neighbors. Gentlemen, dogs are prohibited all over the beach or can’t you read? However, when you threaten to call the civil guard, they run away. Also, if you call their attention, they confront you. And gentlemen, parking is prohibited except in the parking lots. More than one arrives last and parks right on the sand. I remind you that this is a natural park. Please, authorities, we need more police presence.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach with a very interesting history linked to aviation.
Fantastic experience: Great for walking and very beautiful
Negative experience: There is actually nothing to add to the praise of the beach. But we have ended up here for the umpteenth time because the place is an ideal stop for our motorhome trips. Here we can refresh ourselves and shake off the travel fatigue and decide whether to continue traveling the beautiful coast of Biscay to the west or, depending on the weather, go via Valladolid and Salamanca. Now the space for motorhomes is closed. In my opinion, a possibly corrupt local government is to blame, which caters to the interests of the local campsite operators, as they can rip off motorhome owners so wonderfully. And this space is indicative of hundreds of other places that want to stifle land-interested tourism: a disgrace for the region and Spain. Now we park exhausted on the street because we simply cannot drive any further, even though hundreds of empty car parking spaces are available everywhere!
Fantastic experience: Wonderful
Positive experience: Spectacular, like all of Cantabria.
Fantastic experience: Very clean and beautiful
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach to walk peacefully
Fantastic experience: A spectacular beach, with incredible views
Positive experience: The beach is very cool, but it has lost a lot, now many people go and there is no way to park.
Fantastic experience: A clean and large beach with stunning views, with many surfers and a good atmosphere, to be honest.
Negative experience: I was quite disappointed. It is true that it is a beautiful beach with great sand and many waves, but within the context of Cantabria, it is one of the least beautiful. I didn't see anything special about it.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic beach within the natural park. The only downside is the parking; the best one is the last when heading towards Gerra, more accessible to the beach. We went with our dog and people didn't say anything. Good atmosphere.
Fantastic experience: One of the best beaches in Cantabria, I love being at this beach..... you breathe peace and tranquility.... the access is not difficult but you have to pay attention to the exit if you go by car. There are parking lots that usually cost two or three euros and the car is monitored.
Fantastic experience: Easily accessible beach by car (parking costs 3€ per day and you can park next to the beach). The beach is very large, so I don't think there will be overcrowding even in the high season. Perfect for going with children because it is shallow and they can splash around comfortably.
Positive experience: A visually stunning location located in picturesque Northern Spain. The sand is lovely and the beach is generally very clean. The one minor negative is that there is generally a large amount of people on the beach as well as surfers, wind surfers and body boarders in the sea.
