Information
Platja de la Fossa is a picturesque beach known for its crystal-clear waters and fine sand. It features a long promenade lined with restaurants and shops, making it a great spot for families. Visitors appreciate its cleanliness and the available amenities, such as showers, public restrooms, and lifeguards. Despite this, many noted the beautiful views of the Peñón de Ifach and the enjoyable atmosphere around the beach.
- Pros: Clean beach, great for families, beautiful views, variety of amenities.
- Cons: Crowded during peak season, issues with algae, and occasional lack of maintenance.

Fantastic experience: A beautiful beach with nice waves to have fun in the water. There are many people, but even at 5 PM we found a spot for 6. There is a large free parking nearby and paid parking as well.
Fantastic experience: Great wide beach, parking available on the streets in front. Parking costs are inexpensive.
Positive experience: Big beach, with fine sand. We went at 10 AM and at that hour it wasn't very crowded; from 12 PM onwards, it started to fill with people. From 10 AM to 11 AM there was entertainment with music! There were quite a few seaweeds, probably because a storm is coming and the water was a bit choppy. The location is perfect! Close to beach bars, parking (orange zone and free) and beautiful views of the rock!
Fantastic experience: We have been going to this beach for years and it never disappoints. It's true that in recent years it has become more crowded, but the fine sand, the incredible color of the sea water, the boardwalk, and a parking lot nearby make it the ideal place to go. Now it is further away from where we live, but I am sure we will go this year on a weekend :)
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach with a beautiful view, very nice area. In February, there were no parking problems at all.

Fantastic experience: Very family-friendly. 1 km long and the last 200 meters are narrow. The water rises slowly. Very clear water.
-Aparcamiento.

Fantastic experience: Stunning sandy beach, no rocks even in the water. A lot of people but to expected in August, a lot of restaurants and bars on the boardwalk. 10/10 experience
Negative experience: Blue flag beach with crystal clear water and nice sandy beach, although the beach is becoming narrower. Unfortunately the city council are hoodwinked into believing that allowing the dead seaweed to pile up is environmentaly friendly. But not for the economy of the city which relies on tourists. It stinks and is really smelly and you have to climb mountains of it to get to the sea. The contract for sunbed management is also messed up by the incompetent City Council, so no sunbeds or umbrellas for hire. Shame because it used to be beautiful!
Fantastic experience: Great sandy beach with plenty shops and restaurants nearby. Does not have sunbeds or parasol hire though so go prepared.

Positive experience: Great sandy beach, perfect with kids. Large selection of restaurants and shops. Not the place if you are bothered by beach vendors. Avoid the northern part due to strong smell from seaweed.

Fantastic experience: Lovely beach... Plenty of nice bars and restaurants.. laid back vibe
Positive experience: This is the other beachfront in Calpe, less crowded, where walkers find the usual restaurants, bars and souvenirs shops. Ideal for a short stroll. The beach itself is wide, it must be packed during the summer months. The beach is cleaned up every morning by the municipality technical services. There are benches along the way which allows for frequent breaks.
Fantastic experience: Peaceful walk with restaurants, some of quality.

Fantastic experience: Spectacular, beautiful beach, clean and with crystal clear waters. With lifeguards.
Positive experience: Small urban beach with fine sand and crystal clear water, equipped with all services (lifeguards, toilets, showers…). It is surrounded by bars, restaurants, and shops. Great for a day at the beach.
Fantastic experience: We went this summer in July, and it has been a great experience. We found this beach and stayed there for 5 days, we didn't want to change because we love it. The sand is fine, and we got on a water cart and were able to see helpless algae! What a wonder! The best part is that in the area you can do various activities, there are many restaurants nearby, ice cream shops, and other stores where you can buy everything related to the sea. On the last day we went, they set up a movie, we couldn't stay because we were already tired, but I thought it was a good plan. The best part was the lifeguard service, they are attentive, and they also help disabled people to enter the water. The rocky outcrop next to it has the best view. Definitely the best beach.

Negative experience: Once it was a beautiful sandy beach, clean and not crowded. Now it is a disaster. Poorly managed and poorly maintained. During peak season it is super crowded. Mountains and stretches of rotting, stinking Posidonia left there to decay. As soon as there is a bit of rough sea, to enter the water you have to swim through thick patches of dead seaweed. And the icing on the cake... from time to time it is also closed due to fecal matter.
Fantastic experience: Peaceful walk with restaurants, some of quality.

Fantastic experience: It is a beach with clean water, ideal for snorkeling. It has a beautiful and well-maintained promenade with a lot of shops and restaurants.
Positive experience: Pebble beach. Nearby, grass and shade. While snorkeling, I saw a stingray and a spider crab.
Fantastic experience: A beautiful place. The beach buildings are nice and quite modest for that area of the east coast. However, lately, tall buildings have been appearing that could overcrowd the place. It's easy to see the posidonia meadows with plenty of fish using simple snorkeling goggles and a snorkel. Let's respect and preserve what we have because it is very beautiful.

Positive experience: -The beach is very good overall. -Primarily it enjoys an excellent location, situated next to the Ifach rock, in the town of Calpe. -Magnificent and beautiful beach, very wide, very comfortable, and very clean. -It has all the basic services needed to enjoy a good day at the beach. -It has children's playgrounds and sports areas where various activities can be carried out. -It has a long seaside promenade filled with leisure, with a multitude of businesses of all kinds, commerce, hospitality, and other services.
Positive experience: Clean beach with various activities
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach with crystal clear water, perfect for diving among the rocks near the mountain.

Fantastic experience: It's one of my favorite beaches, fine sand good for going with children, little current, easy access, a promenade with a wide variety of beach bars offering different types of food, bars, and shops, very broad accommodation options, in short, I really like Calpe in general, it's a great place to go with families.

Fantastic experience: Ok
Positive experience: It's a beach that is very nice, although the other beach in Calpe has more life than this one.
Fantastic experience: Large sandy beach with gastro facilities
Positive experience: Nice beach area and promenade
Fantastic experience: Huge and empty beach. Beautiful views. Clean and warm water. (January) I recommend it to everyone.
Fantastic experience: Lovely beach... Plenty of nice bars and restaurants.. laid back vibe

Fantastic experience: It is a beach with clean water, ideal for snorkeling. It has a beautiful and well-maintained promenade with a lot of shops and restaurants.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful place.
Positive experience: Beautiful wide sandy beach, suitable for those who enjoy relaxing in public and near beach restaurants.
Positive experience: Lovely place to stay and chill out
Fantastic experience: Pleasant, sandy beach, with many dining places along the promenade. The backdrop is picturesque with the Ifach cliff. One of the prettiest beaches in my opinion on the Costa Blanca.
Fantastic experience: Massive clean beach. Plenty of bars and shops running alongside.
Fantastic experience: A beautiful beach with nice waves to have fun in the water. There are many people, but even at 5 PM we found a spot for 6. There is a large free parking nearby and paid parking as well.
Fantastic experience: A very beautiful and clean beach
Fantastic experience: Great wide beach, parking available on the streets in front. Parking costs are inexpensive.
Positive experience: It's worth diverting from the road to take a photo of the beach with the huge rock in the background. And that's it... Definitely cooler views after driving up to a nearby hill on the terrible road to Alicante.
Positive experience: Very crowded and lots of seaweed... it complicates swimming and playing for the kids.
Positive experience: We went just today. The truth is that it's not a beach suitable for small children, LOTS OF WAVES, LOTS OF SEAWEED! Honestly, I didn't like it, but well.. I think it has good entertainment and being close to bars and the promenade can be acceptable.
Positive experience: Pebble beach. Nearby, grass and shade. While snorkeling, I saw a stingray and a spider crab.
Positive experience: Summer, sun, beach. Nothing more needs to be said....
Fantastic experience: In 5 minutes on foot, in the field, there is a sufficient number of free parking spaces. In July/August, I always found spots on the first try! The beach is clean, there are foot showers, toilets, a medical station (until 8 PM), and at night the beach is illuminated by floodlights, so you can swim at night too. There are quite a lot of people, but they are somehow evenly distributed across the beach, there’s no feeling that someone is lying on your head. This is of course unless you have complaints about lying a meter from the sea ;) There was always space to set up a beach tent. And during the month we were here, there weren’t any strong waves. It was either calm or just a bit more than a ripple!
Positive experience: Great sandy beach, perfect with kids. Large selection of restaurants and shops. Not the place if you are bothered by beach vendors. Avoid the northern part due to strong smell from seaweed.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful sandy beach next to the Ifach rock. In summer, it is often very crowded.
Fantastic experience: I loved it, fine sand and clear water.
Positive experience: We come every year. Good beach. The only problem is the same as always. People occupy the front line with all kinds of umbrellas, chairs, etc. And they are never there. Preventing those of us who come early from being able to enjoy it.
Fantastic experience: It's a super cool beach, and on Wednesdays they have movies. I specifically watched the final between Spain and England, a lovely night.
Fantastic experience: Spectacular, beautiful beach, clean and with crystal clear waters. With lifeguards.
Positive experience: There are a lot of jellyfish, everything else is great: volleyball court, showers, public restrooms, bars around! Awesome!
Fantastic experience: Beautiful sea. A bit windy, go prepared.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach
Fantastic experience: My favorite place in Calpe
Fantastic experience: Nice beach
Fantastic experience: Ren beach, lovely water, sandy bottom, child-friendly
Fantastic experience: Nice sandy beach boulevard with lovely restaurants
Positive experience: Not so nice as Arena-Bol....but still a very good beach with many options
Fantastic experience: Amazing beach
Fantastic experience: Spectacular and tranquil area, one of the best beaches around here
Fantastic experience: Recommended, the beach is very quiet and above all it is not overwhelming to see so many people.
Negative experience: 30 years ago it was better than now. Beach with quite a bit of accumulated plastics, pieces of plastics and remains of bottle caps, plastic straws and nowadays you can see masks and butt ends still on the sand. The water is stirred up, bringing back to the beach leftover detergents, oils, and sewage from the city built along the coast. The weather is pleasant since here the coastline extends into the sea and allows breezes; for now, humans don’t influence this.
Fantastic experience: My favorite beach. I recommend it 100%, especially for families with children, it is very calm.
Negative experience: Shameful the state in which the beach is, the showers do not work and it doesn't look like they are going to fix it, and the beach is full of rotting seaweed with the consequent bad smell and the city hall says they can't remove it. A disappointment.
Positive experience: Beautiful beach in Calpe, crowded but not overrun, with all kinds of services both gastronomic and commercial, clean and clear water.
Negative experience: This year 2024, La Fosa Beach is very neglected; I estimate that the blue flag granted to the beach does not correspond to it because the services leave much to be desired; some even lack locks; none of the foot showers work, and the town hall has put up signs blaming the Valencian Generalitat; it has never had showers and on the contrary, it has all the algae it could ever need, which causes it to rot in some places and produce bad odors: I do not know who is responsible for all this, but please, I believe they need to find solutions.
Positive experience: Nice beach with very clean water. The downside is the lack of restrooms (there are few and they are very dirty). The foot showers on the beach do not work. They could also clean some areas of the beach that have a lot of seaweed that smells very bad.
Fantastic experience: Best beach in Calpe, perfect for children. Fine sand extending far into the water. Gentle slope of water depth, many bars, restaurants, shops, and a wide promenade for strolling in the evening.
Fantastic experience: Modified. One of the beaches in the area, fine sand and clean water, which is the important thing. It has showers for washing feet. There is a promenade and commercial establishments. Good views of the Rock.
Fantastic experience: To see... superb
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach with a beautiful view, very nice area. In February, there were no parking problems at all.
Positive experience: Very good, a 10
Negative experience: How is it possible that La Fossa beach does not have foot showers at all its access points? The answer is simple: due to the ineptitude, at best, of the municipal authorities. Pathetic. It's unbelievable that the E.U. awards blue flags under these conditions. However, the unstoppable property tax. And the building permits for outrageous high-rise towers.
Fantastic experience: Fine sandy beach, 1km, and good restaurants. Blue flag
Fantastic experience: Great beach, wonderful atmosphere
Positive experience: Busy beach with small pebbles on the shore. The Ifach rock nearby is impressive. Next to the port, you can enjoy a nice walk with sea views, but there's not much shade.
Negative experience: Disappointing how the town hall maintains the beach, dirty, without foot showers for the season we are in, lacking infrastructure and very poorly cared for. There is a big discrimination against Arenal beach, which is the urban one that is much better looked after. People complain a lot; there is much to be done.
Fantastic experience: Wide beach of fine golden sand. Area with a lot of shops and dining options.
Positive experience: Worth it
Fantastic experience: Deliciously prepared food. The service also speaks English. Friendly service.
Fantastic experience: Very nice beach, well located, very clean
Fantastic experience: The beach is beautiful and popular. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain and is known for its long stretch of fine sand, clear waters, and lively atmosphere. It is also known for its calm waters and gentle waves. It is a popular spot for families and swimmers. The beach is well equipped with facilities, including showers, toilets, changing rooms, shops, and beach bars. Ideal place to relax and enjoy the sun.... Top notch!!!
Positive experience: Beautiful beach and restaurants
Fantastic experience: A very pleasant experience. A spectacular place, tranquility in a good environment.
Fantastic experience: Super relaxing
Fantastic experience: Nice place to be with a family with children
Positive experience: Wide beach, free parking during this period just a few meters from the beach, in front of the beach there is a nice avenue full of shops and restaurants.
Fantastic experience: Super simple
Fantastic experience: Spectacular
Fantastic experience: What a pleasant place
Fantastic experience: I love this beach, it's big, it has services, the sand is fine, the water is crystal clear, the view is beautiful, it has it all!
Fantastic experience: I loved the walk at night, well-lit and with a sign for Calpe to take a photo.
Positive experience: Beautiful beach. Also more interesting boutiques than on the big beach.
Fantastic experience: One can walk well along the promenade and look out over the sea
Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach, quiet in winter. Clean and very peaceful. It should have a pet-friendly area.
Negative experience: Overly crowded.
Fantastic experience: Plenty of space and pleasant view
Fantastic experience: Stunning beach, clean waters
Fantastic experience: Awesome. Simply great. Many restaurants to stay and look at the harbor. Beautiful ships. Also 3-masters from Denmark. School ship.
Fantastic experience: Perfect weather even in winter
Fantastic experience: Can someone please help? Is there sand in the water or are there stones?
Fantastic experience: Crystal clear water and clean beach, many shops and restaurants
Fantastic experience: Had a nice relaxed snack and a drink.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely beautiful here. Definitely a must to climb the mountain in Calpe.
Fantastic experience: Super accessible for camper van users with free parking 150 m from the beach near a lake with a nature reserve. Beach with super fine sand, it's really good!!! It scratches less than the coarse sand between the toes... 800 m away, there is the start of a great hike to do on the rock with very beautiful views.
Fantastic experience: This is a nice place to stay. Beautiful, long beach with white sand. There are many cafés and restaurants along the promenade, as well as small boutiques.
Fantastic experience: Two minute walk from our hotel, a lovely walk down towards the rock and then it continues all around to the town centre. Very clean and great to just stroll and enjoy the sunshine and views.
Fantastic experience: The best
Fantastic experience: Great beach.
Positive experience: Very good place for relaxing
Fantastic experience: Great place
Positive experience: Delicious rest.
