Cala Murtra Beach
Information
The Platja Cala Murtra is a beautiful natural destination, ideal for those seeking tranquility and a spectacular environment. This small cove, located in the Cap de Creus Natural Park, is known for its crystal-clear waters and scenic beauty. However, it is important to note that access can be challenging; it requires a hike of approximately 15 to 30 minutes along steep trails, which can be a challenge, especially on the way back.
Here are some highlights:
- Clear water, perfect for snorkeling.
- Naturist environment, although it is common to see clothed bathers.
- Marine richness, with many fish species in its waters.
- Serenity, especially if you arrive early in the morning to avoid the crowd.
- Beautiful landscapes, ideal for nature lovers.
However, caution is advised when entering and exiting the water; the beach is made up of stones and can be slippery, which makes access difficult. Additionally, some visitors mention that comfort is not ideal due to the lack of sand and the presence of seaweed on the shore. It is recommended to wear suitable footwear, such as water shoes or durable sandals.
In summary, Platja Cala Murtra is an ideal place to enjoy nature and tranquility, but it is advisable to prepare adequately for access and the conditions of the beach.

Fantastic experience: Naturist cove, I recommend it at sunset, walking the coastal path and ending up swimming there, it's very pleasant.
Positive experience: superb beach (naturist) but accessible to everyone. Good luck getting there on foot (20 min from the lighthouse).
Positive experience: Small cove with magnificent crystal-clear water!! It's certainly worth it given the steep little path to get there. Don't forget your mask and snorkel! The naturist aspect of this small beach (be careful, a mix of pebbles and coarse sand) only enhances the place. We didn't like: - the group of 4/5 stupid young people (17-20 years old) who came only to gawk - the too many moored boats, even though they respected the buoy limitations well. - the beach not very comfortable, but well, it’s also perfectly natural! Just plan for something thicker than a towel next time. We loved: - the cove and its perfectly crystal-clear water of course - but also the great respect of the naturists (there were all kinds: old, young, families) and the 'dressed ones' who were also very respectful. Wonderful experience and discovery (our first time as naturists), to be repeated soon! Note: review originally published in September 2019 (and by the way the first on this wonderful cove) but removed a few months ago for no reason ♂️
Positive experience: Cove difficult to access, thus preserved from mass tourism. We went there by boat and were able to enjoy a stop for swimming.
Positive experience: One of the many beaches on the coastal path 'Cami de Ronda' in the 'Cap de Creus' park. It has the advantage of being one of the first beaches on this route and is therefore not far from Roses. The beach had - when I was here in the fall - however, a bit more pebbles than the other beaches that come afterward. It is not very wide, but has some small trees at the edge that provide shade. It is well suited for water sports (if you can somehow get your equipment here). The beach is quite well protected in a round bay.

Positive experience: It is beautiful to look at, but unfortunately it has a lot of rocks, it is very difficult to enter or exit even with water shoes, and there are areas with pieces of shells that can cut you while swimming :( Be careful!!
Negative experience: There is no sand, only stones, the shore is full of seaweed and so is the water.

Positive experience: Great little cove. Quiet and not very crowded, nudism is possible, rocky beach, access is difficult over stones that are partially slippery.
Positive experience: Boats parked very close to the shore. You have to walk for a while and the beach is rocky, it is hard to enter even if you wear sandals or water shoes.

Fantastic experience: Complicated to get there/spend time, but peaceful except when boats act like mobile nightclubs.
Negative experience: There is no sand, only stones, the shore is full of seaweed and so is the water.

Fantastic experience: A wide and well-maintained beach. Besides taking a swim, you can also take several types of 'boats' just for a ride or to do various activities.
Fantastic experience: Belle plage avec divers accès possibles pour des marcheurs courageux ou moins courageux.....plage naturiste mais pas seulement

Positive experience: Nudist beach but with a lot of textiles and a huge contrast in behavior, depending on how many people are wearing swimsuits, as kayak flotillas often arrive like the Normandy landing and the calm disappears, with a lot of shouting and little space for the kayaks, to the point where they end up on top of people. Of course, nobody takes off their swimsuit. Thus, I recommend going very early in the morning; as the day progresses, it gets crowded and naturists become a very small minority, with more shouting and general chaos. Very beautiful, but overcrowded. There are more recommended naturist beaches.

Positive experience: Beautiful beach between the mountains, a bit difficult to reach but the view is superb and the place is magnificent. Highly recommended if you enjoy walking in the mountains.

Fantastic experience: We walked from Roses, there were not many people in the morning. Beautiful.
Positive experience: Cove difficult to access, thus preserved from mass tourism. We went there by boat and were able to enjoy a stop for swimming.
Positive experience: Amazing. You have to go before 10 AM, otherwise they won't let you in by car.
Positive experience: It's not a bad cove. It's nudist and it's not comfortable for them to have a lot of textile, so we took a dip and continued.

Positive experience: Naturist beach with quite a bit of dry seaweed on the beach. The water is clear and there are some appreciated shaded areas.
Fantastic experience: Naturist beach, quiet with pebbles
Fantastic experience: Cove accessible by a path. Do not be surprised, it is also a nudist beach.
Fantastic experience: Excellent and quiet beach. Not easy to get to. You have to park on the road or on a small parking spot for 4 cars and go down about 300 ft. Do not go there, if you are offended by nudity. Water is generally warmer and calmer. About 20 ft deep near the buoys. Plenty of fishes near the rocks.
Fantastic experience: Cove of naturist tradition (please respect) where you can observe seabirds fishing peacefully or other crabs and crustaceans. A place appreciated for diving. Crystal clear waters. Little parking space at the top by the road. Quick access via descending paths. The return is steep... And don't forget your 'jellyfish' or water shoes, as you can easily injure your feet. Pebble and rock beach. Rocky seabed with posidonia meadows.
Fantastic experience: BEACH - PLAGE - NUDIST BEACH!!! No clothes
Negative experience: Nice small remote beach, the water is dirty but very clear a little bit further away from the beach near the rocks, lots of fish, but we found out after a 30 minute hike from the parking spot that it was a nudist beach, which wasn't disclosed on google maps or internet, which disappointed us. No sand, just rocks, so bring a chair.
Positive experience: Beautiful spot, unfortunately taken by nudists. Stony beach, 25 minutes trip from road to beach. We snorkeled and saw starfish, sea hedgehogs and other fish.
