Escalona Beach
Information
Playa de Escalona is a charming location ideal for family outings, offering a refreshing experience during hot summer days. Visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the water, making it a safe spot for children and pets. Key highlights include:
- Family-friendly atmosphere: The beach is shallow, which is perfect for kids.
- Free parking: Conveniently available, though access can be challenging on busy days.
- Natural surroundings: The area is beautifully located next to the Alberche river and a picturesque castle.
However, some users have expressed concerns about overcrowding, especially on weekends, which can lead to a noisy environment. There are also mentions of a need for better waste management, as littering is an issue. Amenities are limited, with many wishing for food stalls or restroom facilities. Despite these drawbacks, Playa de Escalona remains a popular choice for those seeking nature and relaxation.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful for spending a spectacular day with the family. Free parking.
Negative experience: The place is nice, with the swimming area below the castle, but you have to go through a path, all dirt parking area, uncared for, without restrooms. It's a shame that the local authorities do nothing to improve the area.
Positive experience: Cool place, shallow water, nice and fresh in the morning, a bit murkier in the afternoon but clean. There are areas where you can build sandcastles, a total beach day near Madrid. Dogs and kids were very happy. The village is very beautiful with its castle. The beach bar was closed, everyone had their picnic food like on a Sunday, there wasn’t even a place to buy a bottle of water. Free parking, easy access. The downsides: there were too many people, it wasn't overcrowded, but to disconnect in nature... at least on a Sunday... not really. Trash accumulations in some areas... I think it would be good to have a capacity control and more bins, considering it’s a natural environment, and unfortunately not everyone picks up what they bring. The music was very loud everywhere..., if you prefer to listen to nature and relax... this is not the place, I think the village could benefit more from this area and take better care of it by offering some services like more cleaning, capacity control, at least for those of us coming from outside... some stand to buy ice cream or water, information about the environment and how to respect it... In the end, if you go to a place looking for nature and culture and find something else, you won't want to come back, and the people that keep coming are the ones who blast music all the time..., which isn’t necessarily bad, but I will never understand how they can be like that in a natural environment like a nightclub... Carol G everywhere, a bird singing nowhere..., for me it’s not the place and it bothers me that I seem out of place.
Fantastic experience: A nice place for those who can't swim or are afraid that their dogs and children are alone in the water, the water comes up to your knees and at most to your waist if you keep going further in. On weekends it is crowded, but you always find a spot, take an umbrella because the areas without shade are the most comfortable if you don't like being next to a lot of people. For parking, there is space around it, but everything is stone and sand roads, and obviously, those who arrive first have more chances of finding a spot earlier. To buy sandwiches, water, chips, etc., you have to drive to the village which is 5 minutes away by car.
Positive experience: We liked it a lot! Easy parking, the area where we stayed was quite clean and the kids and our pet enjoyed it very much. The only thing we missed was more trash cans.

Fantastic experience: Well-maintained river beach where you can go with dogs.
Fantastic experience: Very clean and quiet with fine sand ideal for going with little ones or pets
Positive experience: Nice place to spend time with family and kids, but please, keep the dogs in another place. There are still too many dogs, and some without leashes, with children around.

Fantastic experience: It's very nice, especially for going with family and kids, as there is a lot of sand and the water doesn't cover more than if the kids go too deep. That said, now in summer you need to go with a sunbed and umbrella since the sun is quite strong. I've been back several times this summer, and I appreciate it!
Fantastic experience: It's great to go with your little ones and also your dogs, a very nice place, the water is very good, no stones. A wonderful day with my kids, I recommend it.

Positive experience: We loved the place. We went with the dog, and to let him run free we walked a bit to get away from the families and had a great day. The water is very clean, the areas with trees not so much, hence the 4 stars. It costs nothing to bring bags for trash and throw away the cigarette butts, papers, cans, etc.
Fantastic experience: Great place to spend the whole day with family. Very clean and spacious. Although there were a lot of people, there was plenty of room.

Fantastic experience: Excelente!

Escalona Beach: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Excellent beach awesome
Positive experience: Good area to walk with a dog and let them soak a little. Just need a small kiosk to grab a drink.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful and clean. Its waters are clear, calm, and not deep.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful for spending a spectacular day with the family. Free parking.
Negative experience: I couldn’t be there as it was crowded with uncontrolled people.
Fantastic experience: Great... And peaceful to bring pets too... Nature, that simple.

Fantastic experience: I loved it, it's a perfect beach for kids and to take your furry friend to enjoy together.

Negative experience: Awful, EVERYTHING FULL of Latin people, THEY HAVE EVERYTHING INVADED. If you try to spend a day with the family, forget it, it’s an invasion, they invade everything like they do everywhere. It will end up like in Madrid, they will prohibit swimming because of overcrowding, just like what happened in La Pedriza, which was also invaded and closed. Anyway, go to a paid place, as they won’t go there because they only want free.
Negative experience: It's fine to wet your ankles because it doesn't cover anything. Maximum saturation and good luck if you run into a Spaniard because it's full of Latinos with their speakers, honestly, I won't come back.

Fantastic experience: It's great to go with your little ones and also your dogs, a very nice place, the water is very good, no stones. A wonderful day with my kids, I recommend it.
Positive experience: It is a peaceful place to spend the day, the water is cool.
Negative experience: It is overcrowded, and the worst part is that they have ruined the place; it has become a public restroom. You find feces everywhere, and not just from dogs but from humans. It won't be long until health services have to close it down. People don't understand that these places need to be cared for. What a shame.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful
Fantastic experience: It's fantastic to spend the whole day there; you swim comfortably, it's great because you don't feel that extreme heat and you’re there to eat whatever you want.
Fantastic experience: Well-maintained river beach where you can go with dogs.
Fantastic experience: Ideal place to enjoy a day with family and friends... clean water and nice and cool to alleviate the hottest days
Fantastic experience: It's full of water!! You can really tell it's been raining ☺️ great for a day of picnicking and swimming in the river.
Positive experience: The water was a bit cold for my taste, but we felt very comfortable, we found shade, we brought a cooler with food and drinks, and we had a great day.
Fantastic experience: Perfect place to spend the day with kids and the dog. I loved the place. I will come back many times.
Positive experience: Free place to refresh yourself, cool water, clean in the morning but more murky in the afternoon, somewhat crowded, bad access and exit for cars if parked on the sides of the road, no bins or trash cans, can be improved a lot.
Fantastic experience: Very clean and quiet with fine sand ideal for going with little ones or pets
Fantastic experience: A nice place to spend the day and cool off, although the water isn't very deep.
Fantastic experience: A wonder, very clean
Negative experience: Stagnant waters without signaling. We found out after being in that area for 1 hour since a man told us, who, seeing us, also did not warn us earlier. We were already surprised that there was no one in that area, but since we don’t usually go to rivers to bathe, we didn’t know why it was.
Fantastic experience: It is a very cozy place and the puppies will enjoy it a lot. A quite clean space. If you go with children, they will surely have a great time since it is a river that doesn't have much current and is not very deep. Lovely experience.
Positive experience: Nice place to spend time with family and kids, but please, keep the dogs in another place. There are still too many dogs, and some without leashes, with children around.
Fantastic experience: Spectacular, very clean, well-maintained and beautiful.
Positive experience: It's not bad at all here at the river Alberche beach in front of the castle. In the morning, the water was fresh and quite clean. By the afternoon, it gets crowded with people and the water becomes much muddier, and it gets pretty hot, unless there's a breeze. But it’s quite nice. I recommend this area to anyone who doesn’t know it; at least come once to see a medieval town with a castle, which is a bit noisy, but it was a great fortress.
Positive experience: Very nice place and a swim in the river is always refreshing.
Fantastic experience: Very nice place.. we go there whenever we can. This last time we went, we found it completely flooded..
Fantastic experience: In spring and summer, it is an attractive place... in autumn and winter, it is spectacular, the best of the best.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful
Fantastic experience: I love that dogs have access to the beach, there are very few places where it is allowed, Cheers to the City Council of Escalona (I hope it recovers soon from the flooding issue 09/05/2023)
Positive experience: The river is good for going with the family and spending some time. You can bring your pet if they like water and if you can take care of them. I recommend going early as it tends to get crowded and you can find a good spot. And remember, if you bring food, always have a bag for the trash.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful view of the castle
