Information

Cala Ginesta is a charming little cove located a few kilometers from Castelldefels and about 20 minutes from Barcelona. This small, picturesque beach is often recommended for its clean environment and clear waters. Many visitors appreciate the beach's accessibility and the amenities such as lifeguard services, restrooms, and a very nice beach bar called Punta Roca.

Some highlights include:

  • Clean and beautiful beach ideal for family outings
  • Stunning sunsets, particularly lovely in the winter months
  • A relaxing atmosphere, especially recommended for early visits to avoid crowds

However, there are several drawbacks noted by visitors:

  • The beach can become overly crowded, especially in summer
  • High parking fees often deter visitors
  • The beach bar occupies a substantial portion of the cove, impacting the available space
  • Some complaints about cleanliness and increased presence of jellyfish in the water

Overall, Cala Ginesta is a sweet getaway with its natural beauty, although visitors should be prepared for crowds and high costs during peak times.

Fantastic experience: Access through a port, a small and cozy beach. Very nice atmosphere

Fantastic experience: A small and very cozy cove just a few kilometers from Castelldefels and about 20 minutes from Barcelona. The beach is clean, the water is clear, although like almost all beaches, there are quite a few jellyfish. There is a lifeguard service and restrooms, there is a beach bar that is really great, and foot showers at the entrance of the beach. I usually visit the cove in winter because the sunsets are spectacular, but in summer it's great for spending a beach day with family or friends. If you don't know the surroundings, it's best to park in the parking lot at the same port, although the price may be a bit high.

Fantastic experience: Platja tranquila i neta.

Fantastic experience: Very well... Except for the fact that it was a warm summer day and there were some jellyfish like in so many other beaches... It’s important to be aware of our part of the responsibility... If there are more and more jellyfish, it’s because we are doing something wrong...

Andreu F.C. 1 year ago

Positive experience: This place is kinda new, hard to find it’s a little hidden gem at the end of the beach. You can see acceptable sunsets for the east coast. Food is surprisingly good and service acceptable. The biggest drawback is the overly inflated prices, which in some way mirror the rest of the more centric 'chiringuitos'. It’s not bad but be prepared to spend.

Positive experience: Less crowded during the week (obviously) but if you go on the weekend make sure you get there as early as possible. We just spent Sunday there, arrived about 09:20 left around 12:00 and it was getting really busy. No chiringuito this year, there are shower and toilet facilities at the beach and nearby restaurants for lunch, but book a table especially if you want to eat at Santos Marisqueria. Plenty of parking, although it is expensive. I think we paid close to €8 for just over three hours on Sunday. Very nice little beach, in a secluded cove, with boats and jetskis to watch for entertainment as they come in and out of the harbour.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful secret gem close to the port, where you can spend an afternoon enjoying the sun and the beach. There's a view to the tunnel where the train goes which makes it appealing to enjoy the view and take great photos. Beautiful view and nice spot to disconnect from the typical beaches.

Positive experience: Quieter in the winter but a wonderful walkway all the way to Gava with the sea on your right.

Positive experience: Great atmosphere, lots of families and people of all ages. However, as the sun sets behind Garraf very early (around 19:00) families start to leave, the chiringito closes and as there are no lights whatsoever it doesnt look wery safe when dark. Well not for a family with children.

Positive experience: Well protected if the wind is from the North. Good for kids as the beach slopes slowly
