Information

Platja Tavernes de la Valldigna is a serene and family-friendly beach located in Valencia, ideal for relaxing and enjoying a day by the sea. Visitors appreciate its cleanliness, calm atmosphere, and moderate waves, making it a great spot for families. However, there are some criticisms regarding the lack of services, limited nightlife, and diminishing beach width due to erosion. Many long-time visitors mention that the area has fewer amenities and entertainment options than before, particularly for younger people.

Highlights:

  • Clean and tranquil environment.
  • Good for families with ample space for beach activities.
  • Moderate waves suitable for swimming.

Concerns:

  • Limited services and nightlife activities.
  • Beach erosion leading to narrower sand areas.
  • Lack of a promenade and public restrooms.

Positive experience: In July, in the La Goleta area, there is a lot of noise and dust from construction. They are now, in July, adding sand to the beach. All day long, trucks and shovels are going back and forth. They are also conditioning the access to the sidewalks for carts and people with mobility difficulties, now, in July, with the noise of compressors breaking concrete and dust and blocked access. Everything needs to be done, that's clear. But now? In July? Wouldn't it be better before or after the summer months?

Negative experience: Terrible. There is no space on the beach, there is no sand, and on top of that, you have to share it with dogs. The city council does nothing. They turn a blind eye, but they see everything when it comes to taking money from the neighbors.

Positive experience: It is a Blue Flag beach, very long, only separated from another Blue Flag beach by a breakwater, although this one doesn’t have much sand as the sea washes it away a lot. In general, it is not a beach suitable for young children and elderly people, since just entering the water, at 2 meters there is a huge step where the water already covers you by the neck. Then, further along, there is another step but it's for going up, and the water covers you by the knees. To access the sand, in many accesses you have to go up some steps. Parking is difficult, as there is hardly any space on the avenue for the large number of residents. There is no promenade, as they did not respect the coastal law back then. The promenade is the avenue, which is very nice. The beach has mini goals, volleyball, spider, snack bar, and lifeguards until September inclusive. It is an accessible beach, thanks to this many elderly people can get into the water because without the amphibious chair, they wouldn’t be able to due to the huge step that makes it hard for them to get out without help. It is a family beach and almost everyone has apartments in Tavernes, and at lunchtime it empties out since there are not many outsiders. Next to the Tavernes beach is the dog beach of Cullera, which are connected. Depending on the time, and the situation of where you put your towels on the beach, you will get shade if you are close to the buildings because they are right by the sea. The Consum that is there has higher prices than other Consums. If you have to come, it should be because you have an apartment; otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend coming when there are better beaches.

Positive experience: My usual and lifelong summer spot. Lack of services... there are fewer and fewer things to do and more closed businesses. The water is rough and the beach is short and almost without sand. A shame because I have spent my whole life there and see how they have let it go.

Negative experience: I read the reviews of this beach and I don't know if we are talking about the same place. Beach with hardly any sand, there are areas where from the construction to the water there are barely 2 or 3 meters. No planning regarding urbanization, the first one who arrived built. There is no boardwalk. In the interior walkway, more and more businesses disappear every year. Few nightlife spots. Very few young people. Average age 65/70 years. The best business on the beach is the pharmacy. It's a pity, but they have let this beach on the Valencian coast go to waste.

Positive experience: It's a beach for relaxing, there's not much nightlife, some music and spaces to have a drink. The only thing they should do is something to prevent it from losing sand. During the first half of July, they were doing work to refill the beach... and after so much work, the sea took it all away again. There is no wave protection system and the beach disappears in some areas. Other than that, everything is very good.

Fantastic experience: Thank you Pepe for helping me get to the beach from the station. The beach is nice, very family-friendly, and also has lifeguards. It is clean and well-maintained, but according to what Pepe (a lifelong neighbor) told me, you have to be careful with the currents in the water because they can sweep you out to sea (several people have died). If you are taking public transport, keep in mind that from the station you can only reach it on foot by crossing the train tracks through a difficult access point, so it is recommended to take the L2 bus. The bus stops are yellow posts that are hard to identify, and the buses have no signage.

Negative experience: Unfortunately a very different cousin to bordering towns Gandia and Cullera, who boast wide, flat pristine beaches and lively promenades. Playa de Tavernes is strapped with very narrow beaches (La Goleta) and crumbling beachfront homes that were allowed to be built too close to the sea (perhaps before zoning laws). Far too many people populate the highrises in summer causing the beaches and town to be overcrowded.

Positive experience: Tavernes has three beaches within its area, with Tavernes beach being one of them, an urban beach almost 2000 meters long and about 30 meters wide. During peak season, this beach tends to be crowded, the golden sand and its clean waters have a moderate swell that makes it the perfect beach for family outings. In summer, and during weekends, the degree of occupation is higher. In summer, and during weekends, the degree of occupation is higher and it is adapted for people with reduced mobility.

Positive experience: The actual town is really nice and relaxing. The beach is clean. It only really gets busy in the summer months, which is crowded but nothing compared to other beach resorts. I have been visiting this area for over 30 years and have seen the changes of the development of the whole beach town and unfortunately not for the better. It's practically the only beach town that does not have a beach front walkway which is a great shame. What it does have is a "Paseo" which runs the length of part of the main town. It's basically a walk way in-between the first row of houses and second row. It used to be beautiful with a wavy stone design in Red, White and Blue. It was a great walkway...but a few years back the town hall decided to remodel the whole thing by giving it a modern look and made the worst decision ever. Such an ugly walkway with rusty metal pieces placed on the borders of the walkway. Such a shame as it's just so different to the original. The beach town does have quite good restaurants and bars. Unfortunately it does lack shops as so many have closed. Only 1 pharmacy which gets really busy in the summer with waiting times of up to an hour. There are also a couple of Supermarkets which are open all year round. A lovely lake was also created at the North end of town, nice place to bring the kids and walk as it's full of ducks and geese. This summer 2021 they started road works to improve the streets and pavement width. Also mayor changes of road directions , which was really chaotic and very confusing. The most important topic is the fact that the sand in the beach is being swallowed by the sea rise and completely disappearing. Mayor problems of floodings have occurred and in the winter the sea water reach the houses in the front row.

Positive experience: If your looking for a quiet, relaxing beach during September to June, this is your beach. It only gets busy during July and August. It has some shops and Restaurants open all year around. A bus service that picks people up from the train station which also goes to the main Village. It is a very small beach resort that transforms itself in Summer. The water is clean and Sand cleaned during the Summer months. There is also a dog beach at the end of the beach going towards Cullera.
