Crazy People Beach
Information
Playa de los Locos is a popular beach located in Torrevieja, Spain, known for its extensive sandy area and vibrant atmosphere. Visitors appreciate the beach's accessibility, with facilities like toilets, lifeguards, and nearby restaurants and bars. The beach is family-friendly, and there are designated areas suitable for disabled guests, making it inclusive for all. However, it can get quite crowded during peak season, so arriving early is advisable to secure a good spot.
Despite its charms, some visitors have pointed out significant downsides. The beach often has rocky areas and a considerable amount of seaweed, which can make swimming less enjoyable. Additionally, the cleanliness of the water has been questioned, with reports of waste accumulation along the shore. On certain parts, particularly the southern end, access to the water requires caution due to the presence of rocks.
Overall, Playa de los Locos offers a lively beach experience with beautiful views and various amenities but may require some caution regarding its natural conditions.

Fantastic experience: Nice beach with loads of free roadside parking and accessible restaurants and bars.
Fantastic experience: Very nice beach, clean. It is divided into two, a stone and a sandy one. On the right side from the stone pier, the beach is pedestrian and safe for children; On the left side the beach is stone, rather for adult people. In some places, on this side, there are metal stairs to go deeper into the water. The views are easy on the eye, warm... even very much. In the evenings, you could watch couples who created a beautiful atmosphere picnic on blankets. I will never forget this place. I was with my son for almost two weeks, but with temperatures close to 40°C, one week is enough; Children are not adapted to such heat, so high temperatures are very exhausting.
Fantastic experience: Very good long beach with fine sand. Toilets available, although you have to walk a little to get there. Restaurants and bars on site. Parking is available on the street, but almost all are occupied and always full. Entrance to the water is not sandy everywhere, rather stony. Overall, a great beach.
Positive experience: It's pretty good!! You can find parking around and there are quite a few restaurants nearby!! You have sand or rocks depending on where you choose to sit!!
Positive experience: Los Locos Beach is located north of the center of Torrevieja, making it easily accessible for both residents and tourists. There are several bus lines that pass nearby, and it is possible to find parking on the nearby streets and in some paid parking lots, although it can be limited during peak season. The beach offers beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea, with clear waters and a wide stretch of golden sand. The rock formations at both ends of the beach give it a unique character and make it ideal for photography and landscape contemplation. Los Locos Beach is a popular beach, which means it can be quite crowded, especially during peak season. Nevertheless, the atmosphere is lively and vibrant, perfect for those who enjoy a social and dynamic environment. Los Locos Beach in Torrevieja is an excellent option for those looking for an urban beach with good infrastructure and many activities. The combination of natural beauty, amenities, and a lively atmosphere makes it a very attractive destination for families, couples, and solo travelers. If you don't mind the possibility of crowds during peak season, Los Locos Beach offers a complete and pleasant beach experience.

Positive experience: Beautiful beach but mostly prohibited for dogs

Fantastic experience: Nice beach space for disabled guests. Clean and safe for adults and kids.
Negative experience: The worst beach I have ever been to in my life. It is dirty, full of seaweed and stones. The water is not clear as some comments say... The sand is artificial and there are only stones. It is very neglected. I do not recommend visiting it at all.

Fantastic experience: Nice beach with loads of free roadside parking and accessible restaurants and bars.
Fantastic experience: Most beautiful beach section in Torrevieja ☀️ Restaurants and a small supermarket along the beach

Positive experience: The Playa de los Locos is 760 meters long and 25 meters wide, and it gets its name from a psychiatric residence that existed in the early 20th century where the large building that characterizes this beach is now constructed; it was previously called Salaret Beach. It has 4 watchtowers, 4 lifeguards on the front line, a first aid station, and 2 lifeguard-medics, as well as numerous bars, restaurants, and various shops along the promenade. It is one of the beaches where you can find a platform in the water, as well as a rope pyramid for climbing. There is a bus stop so you don’t have to drive, as parking is quite scarce, just like in the entire promenade area.

Positive experience: Very safe beach with a good atmosphere, every 3 minutes you see a lifeguard walking in front of you, the only downside is the dirt in the water at the shoreline of the entire beach, and that in one part of the beach there is no sand and it's all rocks, but everything else is great.
Negative experience: small bathing area, overcrowded, there are lifeguards only 2 months a year, dirtiness and few services. The foot showers only work in July and August. It is surely the worst beach of the Spanish Levante.

Positive experience: You have to arrive early to find a spot, as the beach is not very large. Be careful of the stones before and after the water. There is usually wind that lifts the umbrellas.

Crazy People Beach: Reviews
Fantastic experience: small but cozy beach
Fantastic experience: Dreamy sunsets. It's worth coming down here. I was here last week and I loved it.
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful
Fantastic experience: Royal hall
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful
Fantastic experience: Nice place
Fantastic experience: Good place!
Fantastic experience: Nice beach with loads of free roadside parking and accessible restaurants and bars.
Fantastic experience: Great beach in the middle of Torrevieja
Fantastic experience: Most beautiful beach section in Torrevieja ☀️ Restaurants and a small supermarket along the beach
Fantastic experience: One of the 2 main beaches in Torrevieja. It is located at the northern edge of the town, which makes it a little less crowded than the central Playa del Cura. It is naturally beautiful and highly recommended.
Positive experience: Very crowded child-friendly beach that gently slopes into the water. Even with strong winds, the waves at either end are shallow, thanks to the breakers. At least in the northern part, there were no hidden stones in the fine sand. The restrooms were closed in mid-October.
Fantastic experience: Nice beach space for disabled guests. Clean and safe for adults and kids.
Fantastic experience: I spent most of the days at this beach. If you want to get a good spot, you should wake up a little early, around 8am by the sea, well almost... The locals go down at 7am and leave chairs to reserve it, and when you arrive, there's no space. So, be ahead of them!
Fantastic experience: Really nice
Negative experience: The worst beach I have ever been to in my life. It is dirty, full of seaweed and stones. The water is not clear as some comments say... The sand is artificial and there are only stones. It is very neglected. I do not recommend visiting it at all.

Fantastic experience: Many seaweeds and stones on the bottom
Fantastic experience: 35 years vacationing there. Family beach, unfortunately increasingly crowded.
Positive experience: You have to arrive early to find a spot, as the beach is not very large. Be careful of the stones before and after the water. There is usually wind that lifts the umbrellas.
Fantastic experience: A very nice place. The scenery is spectacular.
Positive experience: It's pretty good!! You can find parking around and there are quite a few restaurants nearby!! You have sand or rocks depending on where you choose to sit!!
Positive experience: A fairly large beach and even though there are so many people, you always find a spot. It should be noted that about 75% of the ground is pure rock with seaweed and that in some areas, there is a lot of seaweed. Other than that, everything is good; most people stay near the shore, I recommend going further in as long as you can stand. There are quite a few fried egg jellyfish, I didn't see any other species.
Fantastic experience: Lovely and calm
Positive experience: There is almost no sand, very small pebbles, and there are large stones on the bottom. It's not very pleasant to walk and trip, you can hurt your leg. I do not recommend this beach for visiting.
Positive experience: Pleasant without rocks
Negative experience: Dirty
Negative experience: It's not a bad beach, but it is flooded with dangerous stones and holes where you can hurt yourself; other than that, it's like any other beach.
Negative experience: A wide beach, in summer there are many people, it is full of seaweed and sometimes there are jellyfish. It is called that because in the past there was an asylum on the same street as the beach, as a note. It is the last beach of Torrevieja.
Fantastic experience: Calm beach
Fantastic experience: The quietest and most soulful beach
Positive experience: The beach is longer and wider than in the center. The right half of the beach is uncomfortable for entering the sea, there are large stones in the water. There is no way to rinse off the salt from the body after the sea, you can only rinse your feet. There are almost no toilets. The beach is cleaned of trash, but for some reason, the seaweed is not removed.
Positive experience: Beautiful beach section in Torrevieja. It's not soft sandy, and there are rocks and stones in the water, we had to be careful where we stepped, but it's a nice and wide beach. I missed the restroom.
Positive experience: An interesting place, a good beach, sometimes there are big waves)
Fantastic experience: A good beach with sandy shore, clean and well-maintained.
Positive experience: A shame about the beach, it could improve
Fantastic experience: Clean, little wave.
Positive experience: Like Blackpool. Far too busy and no room to move.
Fantastic experience: For me, the best beach in Torremolinos town.
Positive experience: Quite rocky when entering and seaweed, very good atmosphere

Fantastic experience: Torrevieja's least crowded beach, with beautiful water and sand, but a bit far from central Torrevieja compared to Playa Del Cura, for example, which is by the heart of downtown Torrevieja.
Positive experience: The Playa de los Locos is 760 meters long and 25 meters wide, and it gets its name from a psychiatric residence that existed in the early 20th century where the large building that characterizes this beach is now constructed; it was previously called Salaret Beach. Positive experience: Well attended.
Fantastic experience: Very pleasant
Positive experience: Beautiful beach but mostly prohibited for dogs
Negative experience: You can only sunbathe; you can only swim if you want to break your legs.
Negative experience: Good beach, but there are no restrooms!!! In the resort town during the season, there are no public restrooms!!!
Negative experience: small bathing area, overcrowded, there are lifeguards only 2 months a year, dirtiness and few services. The foot showers only work in July and August. It is surely the worst beach of the Spanish Levante.
Fantastic experience: The beach has coarse sand and calm waters, although there are many rocks in the water. You can enter carefully and enjoy a good swim. If you are a sea lover, you can bring your gear to swim and observe the marine life that hides in the rocks. There are many seaweeds at one end of the beach, but none at the other.
Fantastic experience: float stand
Fantastic experience: Very nice location
Fantastic experience: The beach is located near restaurants and shops.
Positive experience: Easy to reach beach with good facilities, including a bar and restaurant.
Fantastic experience: Gravel beach resembling sand. There are many restaurants around. On the beach, there is a mini playground for children.
Positive experience: The beach is very nice, the sand is pleasant, there is a mini playground on site. The downside is the lack of toilets and water to rinse off the body/legs.
Fantastic experience: Best beach in the area
Fantastic experience: Nice place to walk
Fantastic experience: I have been vacationing at this beach since I was 9 years old (I even have two daughters now), and as an expert visiting this beach, I must acknowledge that it is mostly a very rocky beach, except for the area farthest to the left (going up to the second-to-last stairs, just a bit before), where the rocks stop and it becomes a really nice beach, with very calm and clean waters. However, in July and August this area gets extremely crowded and it's hard to find a spot if you go after 11 in the morning. Besides this, continuing along the promenade, there are beautiful views and you quickly reach Playa del Cura with its abundant restaurants and shops. Overall, it has very good views and this beach also has restaurants right on the beach front, some of which are quite affordable for being literally in front of the sea. I highly recommend it.
Fantastic experience: Sandy and very clean beach
Positive experience: What a nice beach, where there is plenty of space at the end of March.
Fantastic experience: Very good
Fantastic experience: Beautiful sunsets
Fantastic experience: Imadom... spring, summer, autumn... never gets boring :)
Positive experience: The beach is nice with white sand, but the entrance to the sea is not always convenient.
Positive experience: Ok
Fantastic experience: It is a very nice flat beach, filled sand that is cleaned daily and very shallow, with fewer rocks at the edge.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful and central beach
Fantastic experience: Best near beach in LOS LOCOS. Swim down the 222 end, no rocks.
Fantastic experience: I go fishing there not a lot of fish it's nice to be there
Fantastic experience: The sun, sand, sea is just great..
Positive experience: Urban beach, what else can I say, I personally don't like the proximity of houses and bars to the beach, but everyone has their own preferences.
Positive experience: The best beach in Torrevieja, without a doubt.
Fantastic experience: Lovely safe beaches
Positive experience: The place has potential, however walking around the area leaves much to be desired. Dirty beaches and walkways. I think they need to improve the overall appearance. That said, as you can see in the photos, it is a place with beautiful views, where you can spend time listening to and looking at the sea.
Fantastic experience: Good
Fantastic experience: One of the finer beaches along that stretch.
Positive experience: Lovely quiet beach, nice to walk here. Many restaurants and shops.
Positive experience: Public beach in Torrevieja, close to shops and restaurants
Fantastic experience: Very nice beach, I have excellent memories of it, besides that even though there are some seaweed, they are not too many and it's easy to see where the rocks usually are. If you live nearby, it's a very good place to be.
Fantastic experience: Coarser sand than the other beaches
Fantastic experience: My favorite beach. Small white sand. Good waves on windy days. Not too big. Relaxed atmosphere. Bars and bazaars nearby.
Positive experience: The advantages are that the beach is quite big. But... there are many stones at the entrance, and little sand on the beach. There are no changing cabins or toilets, even paid ones. The northern part is only suitable for children, so it is always very crowded there.
Positive experience: Cons: rocky bottom (water shoes are helpful), no toilets, no sweet water showers to wash off after swimming. Other than that, it's cool.
Positive experience: The best beach in Torrevieja town by far
Positive experience: You have to be careful with the time and day because it gets crowded.
Positive experience: Quite a rocky beach and surprisingly busy even in September. It was not terrible but I wouldn’t visit a second time.
Positive experience: It is a narrow, quite small beach. It doesn’t cover much and tends to be clean. The sand is not very fine. There are standing showers and a point for people with reduced mobility. Outside the beach, next to the bars of complex 222, there is a public restroom. The crowd at this beach is international and mostly family-oriented.
Fantastic experience: Perfect
Positive experience: Top beach, and at the end of the beach, superb wild nature
Positive experience: Lovely beach, nice sand and beautiful water to swim in!
Fantastic experience: Very convenient place, there are no changing rooms, but this is not a big downside for Spain)
Positive experience: The beach is beautiful and nice - it could be. Unfortunately, getting in and out of the water is very difficult because there are large stones and pits alternating, and it's very easy to get injured, especially when the waves are big. There is a small area where the sand brought in has remained, but that’s also where the largest crowd is. The waves wash up sea plants on the shore, which are not usually collected, and this will become quite smelly over time.
Fantastic experience: Touristy and picturesque
Positive experience: a quiet beach
Positive experience: It was my first time going, and I thought the beach was larger, as it's not, and we are very close to the one next to it.
Positive experience: The beach itself is great, I give it three stars because the bottom is rocky and it's a bit uncomfortable.
Positive experience: The beach is not really suitable for small children, the southern part of the beach has reefs/rocks in the water so it is not well accessible. The northern part has thick sand and quite steep access to the water.
